    Hugo Chavez

And here I was thinking Chavez was a bad pick. Assuming these reports are true.

He's too sick to attend his rescheduled party. Looks like he's on his way out.

    American Football Players

Should've stuck Paterno on the main team and put Shivers on the Theme Team. Oh well. A hit is a hit.

    Etta James

It's happened in 2006 with Lou Rawls on January 6th. This is the first time the DeathList's #1 has died since 2008.

I'll take Thatch. I may be on a role after voting Etta correctly.

A possibility. Others would say he's in the first stage of grief.

Interesting how every news report on Gibb that comes in mentions his intestinal issues, but forgets about his liver cancer.

Shame, I actually like his music a lot. Hope he gets better.

    Muhammad Ali

It's at least his last big birthday. He won't make it to 80. I'd give him 4 years at the most.

    Hakimullah Mehsud and his Successors

Seems that he's likely dead, but did he die in 2011 or 2012? A difficult one this. How can we be absolutlely sure he's dead? If his mates in the Taliban confirm it, then perhaps... The Taliban have a reason to say he's alive. I'd wait until either Pakistan or the United States confirms his death. However, if the Taliban does admit he's dead, then give the teams points.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Many opinions. Calling Mubarak or Gaddafi "Moderate" is certainly wrong. And calling a brief pat-down at the airport a loss of civil liberties is the kind of rhetoric I expect from Paul and his supporters.

    The Dead Of 2012

A team picked him for DDP 2012, but he was ineligible.. That was me. (Hi!) She was the joker on my under 45s theme team. Seems to have been a unique pick too. Shame about the rules... Devil's Advocate: She was unique because everyone else knew the rules.

    Margaret Thatcher

No. The last one was for Sir Winston Churchill. Even the Queen Mother didn't get a full-on State Funeral, so I am mystified why people think Thatch might. Perhaps it's similar to the United States, where leaders will often deny a state funeral in their will. The only reason Nixon didn't get one was because he refused one.

    Derby Dead Pool 2012

I would think Maas would get an obituary over Janklow or Bartow, but I can see that I was wrong.

    Derby Dead Pool 2012

Turns out I was wrong, my friend took him out as the last second because he worried about obituary chances. Replaced him with Gregory Powell. I've got both Xolile Mngeni and Gregory Powell. Infinatley more worried about Powells obit than Xolile. The Anni Dewani murder has been heavily publicized in the British Media. I am almost certain Mngeni will get an obit should he pass. To be honest I thought Gregory Powell may have been a unique for me. gutted. No way is he unique. A couple people have posted in this thread saying they have him, and I have him on my theme team.

    Derby Dead Pool 2012

Not a chance. I struggled a bit for ideas this year, so I doubt 2012 will be a vintage preformance. I'm a bit like the Ronnie O'Sullivan of deadpooling - unstoppable when it's going right, pretty average when it's going wrong . Anyway, here's my list. I'm hoping my joker will be a unique pick (probably no chance), is as ill as he says he is (possibly half a chance) and that he gets a UK obit (a pretty good chance). I'd also be very pleased if Joseph Kony gets shot to pieces. A friend of mine sent in Xolile in too, so he won't be unique. Turns out I was wrong, my friend took him out as the last second because he worried about obituary chances. Replaced him with Gregory Powell.
