RIP Senator Inouye. Probably the most badass man to ever serve in Congress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MCHjb50S20

    Journalists

Prolific NBC field reporter Richard Engle, currently reporting from Syria, has been missing since Thursday. NBC is currently asking for a media blackout regarding his status. http://gawker.com/5969029/richard-engel-is-missing-in-syria-nbc-news-enforces-news-blackout

    Derby Dead Pool 2013

My Process: 1) Spend year compiling names, writing down their age and condition as well. 2) Check on all my picks monthly, deleting names if condition improves or they die. 3) Cull list starting in December. 4) Make final list around Christmas, send it in. I've gone from 50 names to 25 in the last few weeks, getting rid of Borgonovo, SeungEun Lee, Hallenga, Nolan, and all of my current DDP entry save 3 names.

Where Will The Next School Massacre Be?

You can't kill 30 people in less than an hour with a knife. This guy had a punt at it. You beat me to it You'll note that not one of those children are dead.

Where Will The Next School Massacre Be?

As an American, I am so fucking sick of this bullshit. Every time this happens, the conservatives harp on and on about how it's wrong to politicize the tragedy, how now is not the right time, ect. When were having mass shootings every week, that argument goes out the window. Connecticut, Portland, Seattle, Aurora, Tuscon, and all these other shootings were done by fucking nutjobs who purchased their guns legally. The GOP says that if they didn't have guns, then they'd just use knives or shit like that. When was the last time there was a mass stabbing. How many bodies do we need to pile up before we can even fucking DISCUSS this issue. Most civilized countries have less gun violence in a fucking year than we do in a month. We know what fucking works, and what doesn't.

    Michael Winner

One little caveat for those last minute DDP team adjustments: Michael Winner has decided against assisted suicide, citing the amount of paper-work required. That means he'll be riding out that 18 month to 2 year prognosis the old fashioned way.

    Hugo Chavez

Venezuelan officials have taken a much more somber tone than the earlier report, as his Vice-President and would-be-successor says Chavez faces a "complex and difficult" recovery; and ask that Venezuelans understand if Chavez isn't back in Venezuela by January 10th, the date of his inauguration.

    Highest Profile Death Of 2013?

Out of Nowhere sudden death > Bush/Carter > Castro > Mandela > Thatcher > Prince Philip If and when, though.

    Ravi Shankar

RIP Ravi Shankar. Another nailed on list names dies. That's 4 gone in the last week or so. But you can't count anything as 19. Don't work like that. I think he's saying that the amount of DL names that have died this year is 19. The 12 this year, plus Geoffrey Hughes, Ernest Borgnine, Dom Mintoff, Ravi Shankar, Gore Vidal, Sir Patrick Moore, & somebody who I'm forgetting. Yitzhak Shamir No he's one of the 12 from this year.

Who Should Be On The 2013 Deathlist?

What about those who SHOULDN'T be on the 2013 DeathList? 13 people need to either diee before the 31st or not be on next year's list. We should drop: Hosni Mubarak Harper Lee Tariq Aziz Saif al-Islam al-Gaddafi James Randi Dick Van Dyke Nigel Lawson Denis Healey Herman Wouk

    Chuck Berry

Another important point is that even when a rock song hits the mainstream, it's rarely a good one. Every member of Nirvana hated Smells Like Teen Spirit, Cobain called it a bad attempt at trying to sound like Pixies.

    Derby Dead Pool 2013

8/20 and a Top 20 finish. Not bad for my first try. 2013 will be even better provided all my picks stay alive for 30 more days. I still need to decide between Francis George and Jack Pardee...

    Political Frailty

I was just about to post the same story. I'll definitely watch this, but don't be surprised if it's to cover something up. Jackson has been under scrutiny before. It's depession. http://www.foxnews.c...for-depression/ And for "gastrointestinal issues" apparently, which could be something to look into. We're definitely not getting the full story, but I don't think it's an addiction to something. Jackson's wife says that her husband is "still very depressed." Jesse Jackson Jr. has suddenly resigned only two weeks after winning re-election.

    Larry Hagman

This puts Norfolk & Good only 2 points behind The Living End on the DDP. This makes it a little more exciting.
