Breaking News from the Miami Herald: Reports are surfacing that Castro has suffered a major stroke, and is in a neurovegetative state.
-
"The comandante is well, following his daily routine, reading, exercising," according to his son Alex Castro. The state is also saying that Castro made an appearance recently, congratulating graduating medical students. No direct word from Fidel though, not even about the victory of his closest colleague and fellow Dead Pool subject Hugo Chavez.

The Game of Life is about to end for Mongo. -
I think I'll hold off on him a bit. 18 months would put his death somewhere in early 2014, but then that Dignitas thing skews that a bit. Question is: Will Winner use his time to the fullest and wait until the disease gets unbearable to off himself, or will he get it out of the way early? If the former then he'll probably last until late 2013 to early 2014. If the latter he might be gone before Christmas. I'll keep an eye on him though, just in case I get a repeat of last year and half my picks die in the middle of Hanukkah.

And yet the vote count for Eli Wallach remains empty.

Suppose he'll be buried in the "Dreyfus Ditch"?

Karl-Gustav Kaisla, the Finnish Ice Hockey referee who served as the referee for the 1980 Olympic match between the USA and the Soviet Union known as the Miracle on Ice, has died suddenly aged 68. There are no English obits at this point.

Stan Lee has cancelled an appearance at Ohio Comic Con next weekend. More troubling, the promoters of the event say they were informed that Stan Lee would be "unable to attend any upcoming appearances in the near future." Lee's rep says this is due to "a very serious circumstance." Stan Lee will be turning 90 this December.

Picked by a couple of DDP teams and comfortably securing a UK obit, Steve Sabol has died aged 69. His dad Ed's still going at 96 though. The funeral will be in grainy slow motion, with a resounding thud as the coffin hits the deck and steam rising poetically into the sky. I dropped him at the last minute for being too obscure, even for the US. And yet his death is on the front page of CNN. -
Russell E. Train, the 2nd head of the EPA under Nixon and later Ford, has died aged 92. Had absolutely nothing to do to Watergate (In fact he was actually a decent person that was responsible for making the environment a national issue), but I figured he belonged here.
-
Bullshit. There are pictures of Stevens being carried to the hospital by Libyans and his pants are on and buckled. Unless the mob had the decency to put his pants back on after the deed, this is just neo-conservative scare tactics.

AHA! Pronoun trouble. I'm quite sure that this to you is jolly funny. . . But as I do not have the slightest clue what you are talking about (and quite frankly if it was explained to me I couldn't be bothered to listen) it comes across to me as being about as funny as a wet Thursday afternoon on Hayling Island and for the same reason fails to make me see your obvious superiority to my supposedly humbled self. Best regrads Syd It's not a major mistake, I'm just pointing out you think Ieng Thirith is a man. SHE is a woman, which you would've noticed if you read the link. No need to treat me like an ass for pointing out a mistake.

A TED fellow is someone who often gives speeches at TED talks I believe. Fascinating videos. -
Only if you want to remove him again in a few days/weeks. I am no medical man but that does not sound good. It's one of those in betweener situations. If he is going to die from this heart attack, he'll die well before December. If he makes it to December, his condition is good enough for him to survive.

Are you Biggs son, close relative or a fraud ? Critical Divide is the real deal representing Ron. No one (except Ron and any other surviving members of the gang) knows who actually beat up Jack Mills and David Whitby. I'm sure CriticalDivide can confirm that. Whatever happened to the other gang members anyway they dead or some still alive ? Very sad what happened to jack mills his life was ruined. Out of the 17 people who got a share from the Great Train Robbery, 4 are dead, 3 were never caught, and the rest are believed to be alive (They might've faded into obscurity and died without anyone noticing.) In Order of Importance: Bruce Reynolds - Leader - Alive Douglas "Gordon" Goody - Deputy - Alive Charles F. Wilson - Treasurer - Died 1990 Ronald C. Edwards - Organizer - Died 1994 Brian A. Field - Informant and purchaser of gang's hideout - Died 1979 "Ulsterman" - Informant and organizer - Unknown Roy James - Getaway Driver - Died 1997 John Daly - Train stopper - Alive Bill Jennings - Carriage uncoupler - Alive James E. White - Quartermaster and carriage uncoupler - Alive "Alf Thomas" - Muscle - Unknown Roger J. Cordrey - Train stopper and electronics expert - Alive Bob Welch - Organizer and muscle - Alive Thomas Whisbey - Muscle - Alive James Hussey - Muscle - Alive "Frank Munroe" - Muscle - Unknown Ronnie Biggs - Found someone who could drive the train after the robbery - Alive (Barely)
