As no list has yet reached 25 I think that is a pretty academic question

If it were Yellow Submarine without Eleanor Rigby I would probably be voting for Paperback Writer

Kill or Save: UK No.1-hits of the 60s

Whilst there is still time I am going to write a defence of Eleanor Rigby/Yellow Submarine. It demonstrates the breadth of The Beatles output. Yes, Yellow Submarine has novelty value and musically Ringo's voice is wanting but it suits the song perfectly. Growing up in the early seventies I do not remember the first time I heard this but I do not remember not knowing it. On the other hand Eleanor Rigby is an intimate piece of urban folk where Paul's delicate vocals are highlighted by the pitch perfect orchestration which George Martin brings

If we were going to have two in the final round for me it was going to be Beatles>Kinks>Stones But at least I'll have something to downvote in the final. Also preferred Tired of Waiting to You Really Got Me

I think today's coverage is to mark the 50th Anniversary of the broadcast of the first episode of That's Life so it is background information rather than new revelations

    20/20 +3

You were absolutely right to do so. As soon as I had posted I had twinges but in cases where you have hits in rapid succession such as Leslie Phillips and Bill Treacher the order they are announced may not be the exact order they occurred and I allowed both of those. The fast nature of the poll also means there is pressure to start a new round The woes of a game runner

    20/20 +3

I have been struggling with this all night trying to work out what is fair and what is not. The nature of this game is quite cut throat and it is dependent on rapid release of obituaries. However it was my mistake to award the points and rush to open a new round so I have decided to let the hit stand but with the warning that future hits may need more scrutiny and I will tighten the rules for 2024 to hopefully be better reflected. Apologies to any players who may have been impacted by this.

    The Joker's Dead Pool 2023

    14. Richard Franklin WILDCARD 15. Rolf Harris 16. Dame Evadne Hinge/George Logan 17. Al Jaffee I have had three hits in this pool so far and they are all subsequent in my listing moving up the list, though technically Rolf was probably before George I think Richard Franklin should be very worried and Elizabeth Kelly (who is 18 on my list is not out of the woods)
