Slade are very much of their time and were very popular but their songs do not have the staying power or classic status that some of the other songs that reached No.1 have. Westlife had a lot of No.1's in the 90s but I hardly ever hear them played now The exception is possible Merry X-Mas Everybody but that is not as good as I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday -
I was living in Cheltenham in 1992 and voted for him at my first general election. Briefly met him during the campaign and shook his hand when Paddy Ashdown came to Cheltenham for a rally. That was the election where there was a huge argument surrounding the Conservative candidate but they tried to indicate that this diminished the LD victory but it ignored the fact that they had only held the seat previously because of loyalty to the sitting MP. Leslie Phillips is a big one here selected by three players @ThereWillBeDeaths7 @Grim Up North get a first hit but more significantly @En Passant moves into a winning position. So Lee Montague joins Lesley Parrish as a potential game ender
