Death Anniversary Thread
Bibliogryphon replied to themaninblack's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Absolutely There has been a distinct rise in the quality of biographies on a number of threads which are absolutely fascinating. I only brought up Lancaster because Leicester was my home town and we are very sensitive about people trying to steal our cultural treasures -
Tom Weiskopf makes that 14 and so only 19 available for picking for the next DL

Rachel Robinson replaced with Juli Lynne Charlot Priscilla Pointer replaced with Anne Vernon
-
I imagine there are many who have seen it albeit very few on original broadcast.
-
I am not contending with her fame level or deserving of an obituary I was just thinking about how much coverage she got here. She was a hit in 20/20 + 2 for which she is only just eligible but in the DDP JT 3 vs PR 6

Congrats @Grimgrass 1922 Juli Lynne Charlot/Norman Lear 1923 Gloria Whelan/ Ned Rorem 1924 Anne Vernon/Sheldon Harnick 1925 Ysanne Churchman/Pete Murray 1926 Georgia Holt/Timothy Dudley-Smith 1927 Leontyne Price/Kenneth Anger 1928 Queen Ratna of Nepal/Jean Marie Le Pen 1929 Imelda Marcos/John Woodvine 1930 Edna O'Brien/Bill Treacher 1931 Leslie Caron/Ken Bates

She didn't get much traction though.....

Looking at my spreadsheet. If we get another hit it will be the latest fifth hit in the year of the 13 years recorded on my spreadsheet. Previous latest was 2014 with Day 218 (6th August) Just gone back to check on all lists since the 50 limit was decided on only two fifth deaths have been later 1997 Mother Theresa (4th September) 2010 Cyril Smith (3rd September)

Last night I watched the Jimmy Saville documentary on Netflix. Roger Ordish (b.1939) was the Jim'll Fix It producer who appeared as a talking head in the Documentary He looked quite old, doesn't have a wiki page but surely would garner BBC obits

Further to my post above if you look at the 50 names on the Crowdsourced List 13 have died of the remainder 17 are already on the Main DL which leaves only 20 big names to fill up the 25 places that you need to find on the main list. Most of the names on the Crowdsourced are Deathlisty so there is no real issue with eligibility though the committee seem reluctant to select Glynis Johns

So @Death Impends misses out on a podium finish three left in contention Ben Ferencz (Joey Russ) Loretta Ford (ThereWillBeDeaths7) Arnold Yarrow (Bibliogryphon)

I drafted my first version of my 2023 Shadow List at the beginning of last week and have already had to make two substitutions.
-
One potential consequence of the number of 'misses' for the committee does represent a challenge for 2023 because they are largely from the pool of people who would make up the 25 'new' drafts into the list.
-
I now have a cluster of four on my shadowlist. So should Gudrun Ure or Timothy Dudley-Smith be worried?
-
Raymond Briggs is a hit for me and I am not the only one

Raymond Briggs a hit for me here.

Raymond Briggs puts me on 7

Phil Collins (And Other Genesis Types)
Bibliogryphon replied to DevonDeathTrip's topic in DeathList Forum
Just a heads up about my ebay sales. Last year I put all my wife's Mike Nesmith and Monkees vinyl on, earlier this year it was my daughter's Yugioh manga and next it will be rare Phil Collins and Genesis 12" singles Just in case the curse continues -
I put her in the same place
-
Fifth hit for @gcreptile in three categories Third Pulitzer Prize winner for @Banana bringing up eight hits in total
-
On Euronews website
-
Must admit they put her picture above the article on the BBC website and I had to do a double take to make sure it was not bad news
-
Pat Caroll and Judith Durham are two hits for me here bringing my tally up to six
