Peachy -
I spoke too soon. I got drenched this morning in a 10 minute walk from the hotel this morning. Didn't bring an umbrella or a coat It is Fucking Madrid Anyway it is not on the plains.....
-
But Ken Loach directed the highly acclaimed/grubby poverty porn (delete as applicable) film version. Miserable bastard.
-
Two by-elections this week.
-
Not raining but meeting didn't finish until 6.30.

The latter. He was going to retire a couple of years ago then changed his mind. If he does actually stop making films he might be worth thinking about, until then.... Have I mentioned before that I hate that book. It was compulsory reading when I was at school. They used to quote it in assembly. They leave it in hotel rooms in Barnsley. My hatred of it comes from having to read it at school. Otherwise I would be blissfully ignorant of it.

He has been touting himself round the media since winning the Palm D'Or but does Ken Loach look worthy of consideration in the near future or as he always looked like a dour skeletal phantom of doom?
-
On my team Bring it on! If he stands in the by-election and wins you only get half points.

Do you think any members would obit just based on this one hit?

Putting aside the question of why, this is an interesting piece of analysis. Of the '57 names, Tab is writing books, Paul is still performing, Harry is still an activist and Tommy is crap as Glen Miller (a horrendous piece of miscasting). Hard to say who would go first (though Tommy Steele is dying more often). What about letting us see the rest of the lists? Here are the lists.I have expanded 67 but left the groups intact for 77. 1957 Tommy Steele Tab Hunter Paul Anka Harry Bellafonte Jerry Allison (The Crickets) 1967 Petula Clark Englebert Humpadink Nancy Sinatra Sandie Shaw Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith (The Monkees) Brian Poole, Rick Westwood, Len Hawkes (The Tremeloes) Gary Brooker, Keith Reid, Matthew Fisher, Ray Royer, David Knights (Procul Harem) Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr (The Beatles) Barry Gibb (The Bee Gees) 1977 David Soul Julie Covington Leo Sayer ABBA (All surviving) Deneice Williams Rod Stewart Kenny Rogers Manhatten Transfer The Jacksons Hot Chocolate (minus Errol Brown) Brotherhood of Man The Floaters (?) Baccara Wings (2/3) I have no idea about whether any of The Floaters are still alive. Wiki gives the names but no more info.

But I think she will be one term by choice she could easily cite ill health and possibly annoint her successor. Kaine? -
Zac Goldsmith may still come up for the game.

This really fits into the group of jokes where the teller is trying to show they are cleverer than the receiver, like a short version of a Tom Stoppard play. But why the hell not.... Two sodium atoms walking down the street when the first says to the second "I lost an electron" "Are you sure"? "Yes. I'm positive" Bibliogryphon, CChem, MRSC

That has to be the shitiest joke on this entire thread. Its the way he tells em...

You Sir, are a Gentleman!

Once you have added that name it will struggle to be a short list.

Where is he Cat? Getting worried here. I didn't know he was going until I read his post 15 minutes after he had landed safe and well. I'm assuming it's this one as it's the first flight to Madrid after the timing of his post. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/ei-dpp#b560101 Yep that was the one. Just checked into my hotel and three days of meetings to look forward to. -

They'll no doubt do a shite on screen tribute that ruins the characters legacy Euthanised by Doctor Lowther a la Shipman style. I preseume that we never saw Dr Lowther when she went to keep house for him. Jean was 2 years younger than Hilda. If you follow that logic I always got the impression Dr L was an older gentleman. I imagine both Dr & Mrs Lowther are now dead and Hilda moved in to a nursing home or inflicted herself on her good for nothing son. -
Give him a ring and ask him how he's going then! You would probably still be on the phone and hour later. He strikes me as he sort of person to whom "How are you?" is an opening,

Back on my travels. At Birmingham Airport awaiting a flight to Madrid. Really annoyed because I left my boarding pass on my desk and have had to download an app to my smart phone to avoid paying the £15 boardcard printing fee. -
I went for Desmon (sic) Tutu
-
We should be grateful at least we don't have an ageing unpopular crown prince waiting to take over.........
-
People need the hope to carry on I guess.I mean there is a tiny chance of success which is better than nothing. Shaun. You are probably a better person than me.

We are only one death behind the good 2013 list but equally one week from falling behind the disappointing 2014 list.
