    That UK Election Thing

If the decimated Lib Dems reject the overtures of the Conservatives that will force them into the arms of the DUP and UKIP which may be unpalatable for even some centerist Tories Ken Clarke et al. But this is a prediction not a result.

    That UK Election Thing

Just had a text message from Liz (you know her a her Majesty) she is a bit worried about what will happen and Phil found this website by googling his own name and thought that in the event of protracted negotiations following an incoclusive election she thought we erudite individuals who are keen on facts research and considered decision making could run the country in the interim. I have taken the liberty of suggesting roles that we each could play in the emergency deathlist cabinet. Prime Minister - MPFC Deputy Prime Minister - Paul Beaerer Chancellor - TMIB (after running the DDP the countries finances should be a doddle) Foreign Secretary - Rotton Ali Home Secretary - Shaun of the Dead Health - Lard Bazaar Culture - YoungWilz Transport - Charon Education - LFN Defence - Dr Z Work & Pensions - RadGuy (Because he'll be doing all the work when we are drawing our pensions) Environment - Bibliogryphon (who else) Justice - The Engineer Apologies if I have missed anyone out but please feel free to suggest roles. Anyone not happy with thier job will have to wait until MPFC decides we need a reshuffle.

    Deathrace 2015

Aye, well don't let me stop anyone continuing to count their own scores and set their own targets. Somewhat like the stragglers in the London Marathon, anyone that gets there in the end is a winner, or summat. Channelling your inner Errol Brown - Everyones a winner baby. Except on the DDP where nobody picked him.

    Crew Of USS Enterprise

My Trekkie work colleague claims that Denise Crosby was an alcoholic too, during her time on TNG, which is why her character (the butch security guard, Tasha Yar) was killed off early on and only made occassional reappearances. Didn't the actress who played Dax have similar problems? I thought René Auberjonois was dead. Ho hum.

The old girl has to approve the name, doesn't she, as a matter of protocol? She must have bit her lip and rubber-stamped it (the name that is, not her lip). If Diana had not been in there then a lot of questions would be asked about what has happend behind the scenes. This name has as much an eye on public opinion as it does on the rest of the family.

    That Portillo Moment

My first thought about the Tories propping up Clegg was that it didn't seem to make sense as there were a lot of Tories who really resented him and would be glad to see him suffer but if they are advocating a tactical vote then it shows how desperate the Tory party has become and now it is just about making any number add up to 326 so DC can stay in No.10.

To be honest I only watched TOS I tried both TNG & Voyager but they were lame. Babylon 5 was much better.

    Crew Of USS Enterprise

Now you have upset all us OCD people by doing Enterprise before DS9 and Voyager. Ah, but they weren't Crew on the USS Enterprise, they were on Deep Space Nine and USS Voyager. I thought if I had done, the folks would have said "not crew". Point taken but I think this would be the place to discuss everything in the Star Trek universe. I do hope you are not suggesting this site is populated by opinionated pedants.

This is a problem that republicans have they always choose times of celebration or significance to make their views known Births, Marriages, Jubilees and Funerals. They need to have an non-emotive rational discussion which avoids alienating those liberals who might be receptive but are pushed away by personal attacks.

    That Portillo Moment

I thought that the other Alexander (the Danny variety) is the one most likely to get creamed. One omission from the list is Jeremy Hunt where the Lib Dem candidate has suspended their campaign to support the NHS candidate. Hmm, that would be a Portillo Moment indeed! Hunt got 59% of the vote last time, though, I really couldn't include him. But any and all additions and contenders are welcome and will qualify for the final round-up after the people have their say. The Portillo moment with DOUGLAS Alexander will doubtless be given some strength by the fact he'll be beaten by a 20 year old. Pity in a way because I had him down as a future leader.

    The Dead Of 2015

Just seen this. I saw him play Pericles at the RSC in David Thacker's superb version of this rarely performed play. Very sad now. Shame. 'Excalibur' was the best screen version of the Arthurian legend IMO... However to be balanced I do think we should also make notable mention of Covington Cross a disastorous attempt to make a Medieval soap. It was made for the US market but had a couple of British thesps in the senior roles.Nigel Terry valiently tried to bring some dignity to the proceedings but the script was a steaming pile of crap. I think it got cancelled halfway through the first series. Actors will do almost anything for money but those who are wedded to the stage often see this type of thing as funding what they really want to do. Fiona Shaw, Kate O'Mara and Ian McShane have all been pretty brazen about appearing in some really bad US TV shows or movies.

    Rolf Harris

http://news.sky.com/story/1476191/rolf-harris-could-face-new-abuse-charges-report Forwarded to the CPS . Looks like rolfie will be back in court , see how a couple of years behind bars have effected him. Well, he won't be losing too much sleep worrying about his earnings, still raking it in from investments: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/paedophile-rolf-harris-earning-1300-5165821 I thought your bank assets get frozen when you're convicted, unless his family are doing it on his behalf. No only if they are considered proceeds of crime. The bloke who co-wrote Layla with Eric Clapton was convicted of murder and on a regular basis the Daily Mail liked to remind people that he was still raking it in. Especially when it was being used in Vauxhall car adverts.

I am not sure Salmond or Farage will get in. Carswell looks safe. Nick Clegg improved his chances with a good showing in the debates.

The first seventeen heirs to the throne are now descendents of Queen Elizabeth II. You will have to cast the net a bit wider if you want a DDP theme team because many of them are too young to pick.
