    Scientists, Inventors And Techno Wizards

Updated for the newly elected President who will serve for two years. I cannot find any reference to his year of birth but I suspect he is contemporaty with Lesley Yellowtrees as he states he was an undergraduate in the early seventies. Anthony Ledwith has died.

    DDP Team Name Rejects

There has been some confusion on the DDP between three different people called Rosemary Harris. I could collect a whole team full of Rosemarys and call it Rosemarys out of Thyme

    The Dead Of 2015

Hadn't noticed that I'd changed to become edgier, I'll ask the missus for a reality check once her handcuffs are off and her gag is out. Before your time we used to have Monkey awards for the best posts, threads and the like, I don't recall we ever rated edginess or identified a forum leader in that dept. No I don't suppose ya did. Well, I'm not the one who brought the word into the consciousness here. And besides I wasn't after awards anyway... we all know winning Best Picture Oscar doesnt necessarily make a movie the best of that year does it. Too true - Exhibit A: Braveheart

    Docter Docter!

How come you're 'not willing to pick' people like her but you are willing to slag them off for "wasting" an incredibly relatively tiny amount of government money........? After she was profiled in the i this morning I am willing to see Dr Granger as a public figure and accept that she is legitimate pick. I still won't be picking her though.

I think that Journalists should be banned from using the word Veteren (except to describe people who fought in a specific conflict) and replace it with Expected to die soon....

You are probably going to hate me but..... Thanks for changing the write up but the picture is another Rosemary Harris who write crime books. I have not yet managed to find a picture of the children's writer yet.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2016

Excellent research SotD. However this year we have one former president, one former presidential candidate and one former first lady. If we add Carter into the mix Sir Creep might start complaining that the list is too US centric. Putting Jimmy Carter in, might give us a presidential double. A bit like in 2005 when we had the British PM double of Heath and Callaghan. Hey you are discounting the possibility of H.W delivering the goods this year. Then we can go for a Carter/Mondale ticket for the 2016 Deathlist which would be appropriate in a US election year. No I'm banking on Bush and Carter suriving the year, so we can put Carter in for next year. Such a shame Dan Quayle is in good health, that was we could do Bush/Quayle and Carter/Mondale I don't really think that needs any qualifying statement.

As he is not on any of my lists and is totally awesome I wish him all the best. He is always a joy to watch and always seems to be enjoying himself. Classy as always Bibs.... BTW I think we might have to slightly downgrade his national treasure status when you realise the fact that his two hilarious appearances as the host of HIGNFY may have been enough to artificially keep that show on the air? Brian is a National Treasure. This is a man so passionate about his work that when some arty film snob suggested to him that Flash Gordon was well a bit crap he walked off the panel he was speaking on. Real actors will give their all to any project whether it deserves it or not. On the list issue even if I had picked him I would secretly be hoping he was going to be OK. I picked Tony Benn and in the week after he died I cried real tears listening to his diaries on Radio 4.

Is Rupert sore because he isn't getting one? Surely the ideal candidate would be Clive James as they may not get another opportunity.

    That UK Election Thing

That is a recipe for the status quo.Except on a much more hardline basis - similar to the late 70s and early 80s. It's a recipe for the kind of "democracy" enjoyed by much of the western world in which a multitude of parties have to fight it out because nobody wins outright. Only if you change the voting system to accurretely corret votes I am suspecting that the minor parties will suffer from what I will call the Scotland effect. Many voters will claim they are going to vote UKIP or Green but at the last minute fear of 'letting the wrong one in' will bring out the basic tribal instincts and we will get a narrow majority for one of the two major parties. Ironically I think this may not apply to the SNP who could seriously damage Labour's chances of an outright majority.

    Queen Elizabeth II

Dunno, he's got to pensionable age without a proper job, manages to sound off about the stuff he cares about and still gets to hang around with important people. And, he's never tasted poverty or lost sleep over the danger of redundancy. I can think of worse ways to stumble through your seventh decade. Perhaps one day he might get to be king, and the shock of it happening might give him a heart attack. With every passing year with his mother alive the chances of that happening grow slimmer. Should he survive her, his reign will be short. regards, Hein Certainly less than 10 years. Interesting to think about... Yes, Victoria's son also reigned for less than 10 years, but why should Charles have the same fate? He surely has good genes, so what keeps him from reaching the same age as his parents? Yet, I do have the same feeling... Women in general live longer than men, but why? Is it evolution (female animals care for their children, and the lifespan of male animals is often much shorter), or is it the physical work that men do (or used to do), or male neglect of healthy living? Certainly, reasons two and three imply that Charles' life shouldn't be significantly shorter than his mum's. Simple equation Waking up next to Camilla everyday or Death? Take your choice.... She's a handsome woman is that Camilla. It is very progressive to allow people in such institutions access to the internet You do realize I used the term "handsome"? It is such a drag trying to keep up somedays

    Derby Dead Pool 2015

Just been running through the listings to see if there are any that I can compile for TMIB and I notice that the wrong Rosemary Harris has been assigned to my team. Mine should be the Carnegie award winning children’s author in 1968 for The Moon in the Clouds born in 1923 and not Elizabeth Bennett's mum. Just saying this now so I can't be accused of waiting to see which one dies first and claim the points accordingly.
