LOLOLOL Come on, I think a lot more threads end up in lengthy discussions of Dr. Who. Not sure how serious you are there....... I've been thinking about making a wrestling discussion thread here on extra-curricular for a while. I just thought it would annoy or spook some of the.... well, types like you, I guess. But to me it seems nonsensical, surely if "they" can handle the DDP being dominated by someone who seems like some sort of e-robot built by the denizens of the CookdandBombd forums, and sit there fawningly congratulating him at the end of each year, I honestly can't see how they would consider a wrestling thread "more" tasteless than that....... Still not sure if you're seriously angling for wrestling to be "segregated" though It was really an atempt at a humorous anotation to the discussion we are having on the 2015 Deathlist thread. I don't have any interest in Wrestling (or really sport for that matter) and I have no idea who most of these people are and once I know they are Wrestlers I have no wish to know more. Live and let live. They are not going to end up on any of my teams and I will moan about them if they appear on the main list (in a 'well I wouldn't have' way) but there is nothing to stop you filling your own teams with them and them being discussed in their own threads . I will skim over them as I do the American Football and Ice Hockey threads. It got quite grumpy after I left yesterday.

Two teams - including that of runaway leader Death Impends - have Boggs roped into Deathrace action, where the qualifying obit need only be some decent local coverage in English. And, if she's so ill how are you going to get that photo? Like, sneak in a do a selfie when her carers backs are turned? That in English requirement is far too strict. That might rule out quite a few American publications

Dunno, he's got to pensionable age without a proper job, manages to sound off about the stuff he cares about and still gets to hang around with important people. And, he's never tasted poverty or lost sleep over the danger of redundancy. I can think of worse ways to stumble through your seventh decade. Perhaps one day he might get to be king, and the shock of it happening might give him a heart attack. With every passing year with his mother alive the chances of that happening grow slimmer. Should he survive her, his reign will be short. regards, Hein Certainly less than 10 years. Interesting to think about... Yes, Victoria's son also reigned for less than 10 years, but why should Charles have the same fate? He surely has good genes, so what keeps him from reaching the same age as his parents? Yet, I do have the same feeling... Women in general live longer than men, but why? Is it evolution (female animals care for their children, and the lifespan of male animals is often much shorter), or is it the physical work that men do (or used to do), or male neglect of healthy living? Certainly, reasons two and three imply that Charles' life shouldn't be significantly shorter than his mum's. Simple equation Waking up next to Camilla everyday or Death? Take your choice....

he's been giving updates (c/w photos) about his condition on his gofundme page (which he started to help cover some of his living expenses) He's only been asking for $5000 so he can't had fallen on hard times yet. A friend of mine was diagnosed with stage 3 Multiple myeloma a few years ago. His cancer is now in remission but we had 4 fundraiser concerts and helped raise around $20K to help with his living and medical expenses. Have you seen the British cartoon strip of our version of Breaking Bad, it's about six frames in which a guy is diagnosed with cancer, starts to worry about paying for treatment and then the doctor explains about the NHS! Yes, I've seen that and shown it to several friends here. My manager's son was taken to hospital a couple of months ago, even though they took x-rays they claimed that it was just a bad sprain on his wrist and thumb. A couple of months later, he was in agony and it turns out he had broken a couple of bones in that area of his hand that didn't grow back correctly. Now they have to break the bones again in his hand and reset them. He is now being hit with a $17K medical bill which insurance will only pay less than half of that, but it's still a hefty amount that he has to pay out. Coming soon.... Free with your next Conservative government....

What Do You Think Of The 2015 Death List?
Bibliogryphon replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
I'll update my sig when I fucking feel like it, fucknut. I was waiting for confirmation of my 2015 DDP entry..... so shuuuut uuuuuuuup. And also, since when did "being asked for your opinion" mean you get some magical right to not have somebody tell you it's retarded? No-one wants to hear some "OMG WHY ARENT ALL 50 CHOICES SOME AMERICAN BALL-THROWING EXPERT NOBODY IN BRITTUN HAS EVER HEARD OF" horse shit that make you sound like a caffeine-addled, FPS-addicted, much-less appealing American version of Deathray? (Sorry DR, just kiddin'........ like you were when you called me a moronicos, etc. or something) However I thought "Cancel My Appointments" was a funny team name and if Spade is telling you to go away then I'm ready to do a complete 180 and give you a second chance. Just try to be slightly less of a cunt.... I preferred to let sleeping dogs lie, as I had my piece and thanks to it not being soft and cushiony, I took heat. Let's get a couple things outta the way. One, I NEVER said anything about the list needing Yanks on it, nor too many Brits on it (you be the judge if it has, seeing as the reach is global). Two, I probably did come across as a cunt otherwise, Alas. But I stand strong, bold, steadfast, and with conviction (lol) on my point, which is the list is pedestrian in thought and construction. Here are names for one reason or another have zero justification imho, other than the person is 90-98 years old: And by justification I mean RECENT MEDICAL evidence or insight. CLee Berry Mugabe Mubarek Day HLee BBKing Dole Schmidt O'Hara Cole Sallis LSmith RAdams Kerkorian Maynard Here are names on the list with medical evidence but whom I may not have included, but whatever: JRoberts (Superstar Billy Graham in worse shape, if you want a rasssler) Harper (seems recovered to me, though yes we know how these things go -- I may include her if I expanded to 50 names) Kohl (looks frail, but only links cliaming poor health are terribly old, meaning irrelevant in 2015). Lastly, who in the hell is Joost Westhuizen? A truly unremarkable fellow, he shouldn't qualify as celebrity imho. But it is what it is, and he is on the list for a reason, though frankly I say a year too soon. But I'll live. Joost should be so lucky. Many of you have posted EXCELLENT research/links to very qualified candidates that obviously went ignored by the Committee. I think the list was slapped together by those who are lazily 'playing the odds' that a 95 year old will die. And if that flies for the best list that can be put together, it's a self-indictment. I"ll take my percentage chances saying none of those I've listed (1/3 of the list) will perish in 2015. The only 'dead' they are is dead weight on what could be a great list. I may be wrong on 2-3, Tha'tll be a better percentage than the hits out of 50 provided by The DeathList. I hope that is an un-cunty answer. Sir Creep You are joking. Mugabe has been nipping off to Singapore for mysterious treatments for several years. Sallis is no longer able to work, Mubarak has collapsed a number of times in the run up to his trial. Christopher Lee is a legend whose awesomeness is beyond question. Bob Dole looked rickety in recent outings and Maynard belongs to the "I didn't realise he was still alive". I think we should get 10 names but I do not think the list is perfect. Sallis is almost blind these days, but he had to retire earlier than he wanted to because the BBC couldn't get the insurance for when he was acting. Even in the last series of Last of the Summer Wine he only filmed studio scenes and nothing on location. -

I've suggested her a few times, but since she's still alive I guess the committee have been wise to leave her off the list. Putting her on for next year might be a good option. come the fuck off it... We're really Foray-ing into obscuro territory with voice actresses aren't we? What is it with Disney fans around here. Just my opinion anyway Not entirely obscure, she was the voice of Rocky the Squirrel from Rocky & Bulwinkle, and also Jokey Smurf. I'm far from being a "Disney Fan" as you put it. They're just a notable name and sure to get an obit. While we're on the subject of voice actors, William Woodson might be worth going on the list. He narrated the mini-series The Winds of War. No way man we can't put him on, that hit would crash the server! So basically you're implying that if you've never heard of them, they don't count as a viable suggestion. Not everyone on the list has to be a house-hold name. They just need to be known in their field to qualify for an obit. For the main Deathlist I think there needs to be a fair degre of noteworthyness. People are free to play obit Russian roulette with their DDP picks but I would expect someone on the main list to be UK obit worthy without a doubt. Those that I have never heard off are not automatically bad picks but I then research them and then decide. When Sam Simon was first discussed on this forum I thought he was someone really obscure but I have been won round. Still not sure about Jake Roberts though. LOL, fucks sake man. Yes people do know who he is/was. If it's a bad pick it's because he's actually fairly okay. He's definitely in much better shape now than he was shortly after Stone Cold Steve Austin beat his ass down in the final of the 1996 King of the Ring! Helpful pic included to demonstrate: (WTF... Austin actually looks more like Goldberg there for some reason. He had a cut in his mouth so he looks a bit retarded or something) Wrestling: - This is an area that is completely off my radar. I do not watch it and have no interest in it. However unlike other topics which I have no interest, soaps, sport, ballet etc, it does not receive coverage in the mainstream UK press therefore I cannot see picks like Jake Roberts in the same way as someone like JvdW. If he dies during the year fine good call by the committee but I would prefer to see that place taken by someone else.... Peter Sutcliffe maybe?

That UK Election Thing

Here you touch one of the major problems with elections: the result of an election depends as much on its mechanics as on the will of the people it is supposed to express. As far as I'm aware there is no perfect system. For me that's one major reason for random assignment of representatives. Elections of executives (a relatively rare thing in Europe) may be a different matter. Then there's all the trouble with vote rigging, gerrymandering, voter registration... regards, Hein Voter registration is the big issue in the UK at the moment. The system has changed and we have lost about 1 million voters mostly students or those in rented accomodation. Not your average Tory voter. -
Are you really an ordained minister? Respect if you are! Thank you! I am indeed - I was ordained as a minister in 2013, and inducted as the assistant pastor of a small Evangelical church in our village. I have a day job as well (accountancy) that pays the bills, so it's surprising I find as much time to come on here as I do! No bullshit whatsoever, respect for that and for holding your faith. I appreciate that it may give you a different view of death to the one some others on this site might hold. As a christian myself I don't have any particular qualms about what we do on here but there again I think my brian is wired a bit odd.

I'm 45 but I have to keep reminding myself of that as I still think I am about 27 which is the age I was when my daugher was born. My wife probably thinks I think I am even younger.

We had our chance four years ago and we blew it. I do not think this will be considered again until after the 2025 election unless it was a demand for coalition support. We had a choice in so much as a kind executioner may let a death row inmate choose between the electric chair or the hangmans noose. Single Transferable Vote allows for the link to be maintained between the constituncy and the member otherwise we end up with having a system like we get at European elections where we have a groups of MPs for a defined geographic location. There are arguments about each system but I am not going to replicate the whole Jenkins report here. I think moving to STJ would have been the first step in a journey -

Is it the case that Tony is thinking in a few years they will be looking to award a knighthood and the name of that fantastic chap who used to be PM will come up "It seems only right that he should have one......." By the way I have been enjoying this spotlight on Australian politics as it distracts us from the fact that Phil isn't actually dead yet (and is very informative) -

I have noticed that Betty's hotpot dosen't seem to be served in the Rovers anymore, it seems to have been phased out by sandwiches, maybe thats so when she actually does retire, no one will miss her, as there wont be anyone to make the hotpot, or will it be a case of a stranger wandering into the rovers and asking for a Betty's and getting a Fred's instead and then commenting on how things ain't what they used to be, will her hotpots live on after her, or will she just be forgotten? You'd be amazed. There's a pub near where I am at the moment (let's just say east Kent) that has had the same landlord since 1948. He's in his late 80s now. His bed is around the corner of the bar, he doesn't believe in pumps so the beer comes from a tap in the barrell, the till is his pocket and the prices always change. If you drink there late he leaves the keys and asks you to lock up and pop them through the door when you leave. It's kitted out in genuine 1960s furniture, with 1970s glasses. Oh, nobody ever goes there because the only sign that there is a pub is a handpainted bit of cardboard saying "ReAl aLE --- thIS wAy" It's known as the pub you take somebody else's wife to... Is this place still open, sounds perfect for a DL meet. Yet she's still kicking a few years later. Is Eileen Derbyshire still on the Street? I thought she had left and then remembered that I was thinking of Thelma Barlow. Yes, she's appearing less often these days but she's still around. Yes I can see her lurking on your shadow list. Sue Nicholls is worth paying attention to. She had a brush with cancer but more interestingly she is the only surviving 'ghost' from Rentaghost and she is married to Mark Eden (Alan Bradley) who will be 87 this year. -
Well you shouldn't have gone to the UKIP meeting then...

Tha'ts AWESOME he's on my Life (and Death) of Brian theme team!! SC You obviously have no idea how we feel about him here in Britainland....... (or more likely you just dont care either way lol) However given his age+weight I'm sure maybe a few have been expecting something a little like this. I do hope that Brian is with us for many years to come.

Not exactly the point in theses cases though. William Roache is a pretty shite actor but his characters icon status will mean his deathed is griefporned to hell like Anne Kirkbrides has. I missed her off a fucking corrie theme team for crying out loud.... I think it is right for Lardy to make this point at this time. She spent 42 years playing a character that was defined by the size of glasses she wore. It is for the tabloid press to carry out the griefporn but when someone goes we assess their work objectively. There have been some passing that have been marked by an outpouring of genuine affection on these pages which is probably worth a lot more than glorifying everyone that dies. However there may be a lingering resentment for Anne that she managed to pass under the radar. Oddly enough someone in my work game played her as a wildcard and I then remembered that she had been given time off. "One to watch for next year" I thought........ Ha I suppose, being fair, I'm a bit biased because I fucking hate Coronation Street. But for me, a good actor/actress is defined by diversity and versatility, an ability to play a range of roles and make them believable, and I think some people, especially long standing soap stars like Dreary Barlow , William Roache and Adam Woodyatt, have done themselves no favours by remaining in the same character for hundreds of years - they haven't given us a chance to form any other opinion other than their cheesy soap appearances. Of course there will always be the exception - June Brown has played Dot Cotton forever, and I think she's great, but the same applies, she's not done a huge amount outside of Eastenders for the past 30 years, thus depriving us of her wider talents. June Brown has played other roles concurrently with her stint as Dot Cotton, whereas Anne Kirkbride's only other IMDB-listed credits are a comic relief appearance as Deirdre and a Hetty Wainthrop investigates appearance also as Deirdre. Plus what I assume is a bit part in a play. FWIW I also think she was a pretty poor actress - especially evident when she was required to display 'emotion'. For evidence of June Brown's talents I would suggest watching BBC adaptation of Gormanghast where she is superb alongside Christopher Lee, Ian Richardson, Stephen Fry, Fiona Shaw etc. She has also made Dot a character that trancended her initial remit as a comic third witch to Ethel and Lou and she has always been better than her material but occasionally they give her something meaty to do. e.g the solo episdoe or the very early Dot & Ethel episode. Eastenders has always occasionally been able to surprise by doing something leftfield which Corrie never seems to embrace. Still don't watch it though.
