The optimistic view of this is that Boris thinks the Tories are going to lose or not win an outright majority because then the top job will probably become vacant. Can anyone see Boris serving in a David Cameron cabinet? However Cameron will have to offer him a cabinet level job to keep him from mouthing off on the back benches.

    The Dead Of 2014

Sad news indeed ,but it opens up the possibility of an ex radio 1 breakfast DJ thread. Thats Smithy and Kevin Greening gone.Who will be next? My moneys on DLT I am not sure that Radio 1 Breakfast Show hosts will come good for a few years. Tony still sounds chipper, Noel crops up on TV, DLT doesn't look ill despite his woes. Mike Read doesn't seem to be around much so you could go for him but really I think Nick Grimshaws lower intestine should look at the plummeting listening figures and do him in, in the manner of Grunthos the Flatulent.

Both. He objected to being moved to what Bernard Ingham described as a non-job and he disagreed with Thatcher over the issue of Europe. Finally boiling over into a decision to resign in a untypically inflammatory fashion and setting the course for the downfall of Thatcher. If you ever watch The Iron Lady his part is taken by Anthony Head who was superb. I think there are a number of seats in London that Boris may fill, he won't want one out of the city as he will still be mayor till 2016. Maybe he and Zac Goldsmith could swap jobs.

To be fair I have drafted my list for next year but I am expecting to revise it substantially before December.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2015

Considering how ill Pete Murray looks in this picture and how long ago it must have been taken (John Peel is in it) I think Pete must be a serious contender for the future.

A great shame but it seems reading that he was accepting of death and had no regrets. 100 is a very good life and still writing.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2015

For those who are not enslaved by the capitalist system and have to put in the requisite 9 to 5 a good source of form studying is provided by the Daily Brum Soapfest on BBC that is Doctors. A lot of older actors turn up in bit parts as patients and often in obituaries you may notice that actors last roles were in something like Doctors, Casualty, Holby City etc. When I did see an episode a while ago it had Sheila Reid in it who has recently been mentioned in the Sit com thread. I got confused thinking about Anne Reid but wiki soon put me right. You will have to be very quick to check the credits though as they go through at an alarming rate.

    (C)Rappers

Did she record a rap album that I didn't hear about?!? Yeah, like Book says, she was one of the first rappers in the world in Rapture. But the point is: Debbie Harry is not a rapper but a pop-wave-punk-singer (and should be mentioned in the pop thread or whatever). Blondie didn't record a whole rap album, just that one funky-disco-pop-track with a very impressive rap-part in it (as long as I know). This track was the very first "rap-song" which topped the Hot100 - and was sung by a blonde white female!!! Haha!!! There had been rappers before, of course, but "Rapture" is the first No.1. Right sentiment, wrong thread. Rapture is an awesome track. I did post some pictures of Debbie Harry a couple of months ago Post #1091 in Dead Pop Stars thread). It would be an ambitious pick. Still active and fit.

Yesterday there was a debate about the large numbers of members who are elligible to sit in the House of Lords apparently they are having to share five to an office. Betty Boothroyd wants them to consider retiring. She should drop some hints by registering on this site and next year submitting a DDP team of elderly lords who need to consider their health. Come on Betty you know you want to.

    Deathrace 2014

You probably don't want to hear this right now but did you award points to dk for Aldofo Suarez because as far as I can see his name is missing from the carkers that count list. Doesn't affect the overall result and doesn't do me any good as it puts him further out of my reach.

    Deathrace 2014

Awesome, if we ever get sponsorship for this event you'll be first on salary. My - non-number crunching - take on this is to suggest that the fancied big hitters have really let us down. Deathraces get one when one or two bankers fall and bring a handful of potential winners up to a high score, at which point their unique picks do the rest. Our current failure is down to Wilko, Billy Graham and a few others not doing the business and one or two more - like Farmiloe - doing it later than expected. I think we will get a winner, but not until the autumn. When we get the multi-million pound Deathrace TV show I could be Richard Osman to your Alexander Armstong.

I would like to put forward for consideration the Flog It silver expert Michael Baggott someone pointed out a picture of him and with winter coming on Death is going to be on the look out for a new source of candles. Unfortunately I cannot find any biographical details for him, age etc. So may not obit.

Updated for the newly elected President who will serve for two years. I cannot find any reference to his year of birth but I suspect he is contemporaty with Lesley Yellowtrees as he states he was an undergraduate in the early seventies.

I think we will get a winner, but not until the autumn. This year there are 190 picks so we have a bigger pool to draw from. On a pro-rata basis we should be on 32 deaths by now so we are slightly behind but a lot of deaths last year came in very late. A few other noticable spoilers are Clive James and the collection of supercentarians who at this very moment are probably planning to release a collective work out fitness video. I need to revise that number down by one to 189 as Alice Herz-Sommer was under both H & S. I still think we should be at 32 for the year and 55 by the end of the year.

The video version of a Deathlist catalogue. Hah! Yes. Although these days it's a bit like an outdated Argos catalogue you find in the attic - most of the items aren't on sale any more... You can still get a discount on Peter Sallis, Jane Freeman and Bert Kwouk and Mike Grady is available at all the car boot sales.

    Deathrace 2014

I have done some number crunching. In 2013 there were 171 individuals picked on Deathrace teams. 11 of them were scored points within the game which ended on day 55 (05th Mar) Of the remaining 160 picks 39 died during the remainder of 2013 and another 14 of them have died in 2014. So far in 2014 there have been 30 scoring deaths so we are reasonable compared with last year in number terms. However none of this answers the questions as to whether we will get over the finish line.

    Ebola and Other Viruses

Listening to a medical expert on the BBC yesterday adds a little bit of context. Ebola may be 90% fatal once you have caught it but it is not very easy to catch. Most of the infections are in those caring for the ill and those preparing dead bodies. This is not to say it is not an issue but we probably won't be in for a real life rerun of Survivors as long as we maintain (or improve) hospital procedures to prevent infection and have a robust system for identifying cases and quarantining them.

    Ebola and Other Viruses

The commanders of nuclear submarines were told to tune into the news on Radio 4 and if this cannot be found they are to assume that the UK infrastructure has fallen and to open their sealed orders. Think of me as reliable it is better than obsessive.
