Larry Niven is now the oldest and earliest winner of the Hugo award for best novel. The only one born before 1940. I have the complete list if any one is interested. -

Another A DDP theme team hit for me but I gave her up in 20/20 -
Today is day 68 for the year. In two of the past five years we were at four deaths by this stage but for last years record breaker. The third hit did not come until 20th March.

That man is a menace.

I have just completed my annual cross reference of my 1000 name long list against the DDP. My long list excludes picks that are on my main game list ~500 who would be the more common names. The following 20 people have not been DDP picks in the years I have been carrying out this cross reference. William McPherson – Judge (b.1926) Babs Chinnery – Beverly Sister (b.1927) Tony Soper – Naturalist (b. 1929) Lynne Reid-Banks – Writer (b. 1929) Jack Higgins – Writer (b. 1929) Les Vandyke – Songwriter (b.1931) Mona Hammond – Actress (b.1931) Brian Trueman – Presenter (b.1932) Antonia Fraser – Writer (b.1932) Ray Cooney – Actor/Director (b.1932) Shirley Conran - Writer (b.1932) Michael Frayn – Writer (b.1933) Dianne Fienstein - Politician (b.1933) Annette Crosbie - Actress (b.1934) Sheila Steafel - Actress (b.1935) Gary Player - Golfer (b.1935) David McKee - Writer (b.1935) Michael Eavis - Farmer (b.1935) Susan Cooper - Writer (b.1935) Jan Pienkowski - Illustrator (b.1936) It probably says more about my long list than about the DDP but there are a couple of interesting names in there.

Wow that takes me back a bit. You never hear that on the radio do you? I remember going to see that film at the old ABC cinema in Leicester. Which was so long ago the building that replaced it is now probably going to be demolished.

Yes I said Town Franklin's Gardens is in the region of the town known as St James. The year after we went to Franklin's Garden we held the conference at Sixfields that was even worse.
-
Presumably that nickname Saints for Southampton comes from Southampton Town but they also play/played at St Mary's. Northampton Town play at St. James's. I once went to a conference there. It was awful.

Please no. I am surrounded by Northampton Saints fans here but everyone knows the best Rugby Union team is/was Leicester Tigers.

On Twitter Toby Hadoke when he did an obit for Peter Wyngarde was asked about David Fisher and his reply was I can only do what I am asked to do.
-
Which makes the lack of one for David Fisher even more insulting.

The same happens in Kettering the pubs close on days of traveller funerals or face involuntary redecoration. -
She is not going to die this year or next. waste of a pick to include her. Philip will go first.

Following the death of Ursula K. Le Guin the earliest surviving winner of the Hugo award for best novel is Larry Niven (Ringworld). However he is not the oldest. That I think is Kate Wilhelm. -

Are you a local or close by. I work in Kettering. Northampton isn't great either. A place I really dislike is Cheltenham lived there for 6 years. Horrible place. -

This was one of the things that started me deadpooling. I read that he had died and only one colleague knew he was. Could not believe it. -
Roger Bannister was the second hit on my shadow list so I am up with the committee. A miss.

Thank you YB. Is everyone happy. Please remember these are not my categories and whilst I can deeply involved in wether hereditary peers did or did not sit in the House of Lords. Grammys and Boxers are well outside my sphere of expertise (Kare Willoch I should have known better)
