I like how this is turning into a scientific endeavour... -
I'm praying. That he and Mel Tillis make the starting gate, dragging Willie Nelson with em SC There is a theme team in there somewhere, add Glen Campbell.

So, How's Your 2017 Shortlist Looking?
gcreptile replied to msc's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Goddamnit, I found a name pretty likely to obit (but you never know with one-hit wonders, especially because s/he was just a member of the band), pretty likely to die, but just a little old. I have no space anymore, but might make some if s/he is a unique hit. But I'm only 75% sure s/he's unique, gaaaahhhh.... And why didn't I find that name when the news was fresh, a couple of months ago? -

So is the ten year old Bradley kid and the Jeopardy contestant who died before the show aired. Be careful you don't violate the "Malicious Communications Act": http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/woman-arrested-after-abusive-facebook-9497282 -

Guardian Obit: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/dec/21/ilse-aichinger-obituary Good for her! (and my Generation Game team) Thank you, Willz. I was surprised a female author writing about the Third Reich didn't receive a Guardian obit.

Good idea, Mr. Russ. My pick of Barbara Walters however, was misguided. She's commenting on the departure of Sherri Shepard and Jenny McCarthy from "The View". She might be getting senile, but she's not close to death.

The Facebook generation: it only happened if it was liked and shared. -
Maybe also add the number of unique hits for each team, as three unique hits is another way to win?

He's only a local politician, but could his status as "Ireland's longest-serving politician" give him a QO? Sean McEniff, 81, is not going to get better: http://www.highlandradio.com/2016/12/16/court-told-critically-ill-cllr-sean-mceniff-is-not-going-to-get-better/

I can't really find the right thread for it... Gordon Hunt, "director" of the Uncharted games (their motion capture parts) is dead at 87: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/uncharted-mo-cap-director-passes-away-heartfelt-me/1100-6446444/ He also was the father of actress Helen Hunt. He also headed the voice department of Hanna-Barbera. Edit: Very sorry, Sir Creep already posted it, gah... (but without the "Uncharted" part)

I'm not really a veteran, this will be my third year, the second "serious" one. But I think I'm at the stage where the overthinking begins. I've started to contemplate whether to take Errol Christie off my list, maybe he pulls through after all?? Edit: And the update for my own shortlist: Predictably, my main team isn't quite that conventional anymore as it was two weeks ago. I think my main team will have (at least) two uniques now. I believe now that the score record will get broken again next year (not only by me, but by others as well). -

Saddened by this news- sublime scholar. The second after I submitted the post, I thought "Well, she also was a Dr., maybe she was notable in her own right?" This Guardian obit confirms that: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/dec/20/thom-yorkes-ex-partner-rachel-owen-dies-at-48 -
Yes, I thought exactly the same. What "better" way to close the year than the royal double whammy. Edit: I always liked Charles, I'm One of the few, I guess.

Channan Petrides, actual DDP pick (Girlfriend in a coma), but only nr. 22 or 23 for Shameless 2016, died in Octobre without QO: https://www.gofundme.com/channan-petrides-funeral-2uk2jbg

Julia Watson, inspirational cancer mum, writer of her own blog, and author of "Breakfast, school run, chemo" dead with qualifying obit: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4052044/Mother-four-dies-inspiring-thousands-raw-honest-blog-battle-terminal-bowel-cancer.html I think she was nr. 21 or 22 for Shameless 2016. I would never have thought that one from the 2016 bench could still obit that late.
