So, How's Your 2017 Shortlist Looking?
gcreptile replied to msc's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The rule is that you have to be 18 as of start of January 1st 2017. Hence why Zach Sobiech, who died aged 18 but entered 2013 17, wasn't that year's most popular joker pick. Ok, I thought so. No Amber Snailham for Shameless. -

Peaches, the electroclash singer?Peaches Geldof? Edit: Goddamnit, I forgot Peaches Geldof is dead. As for my own shortlist, I find it terribly conventional right now. But I want to avoid last year's mistake and take out Mark Farren and Pearl Washington in the last week for terminally ill but hardly notable people. I will channel these instincts into my B team. I think my team can hardly be improved anymore though I have to edu-cate myself some more. Just yesterday I started going through my longlist and found out that a DDP regular and very early entry into my list, is going South. As is his/her obitability though. -

What's the rule on that? Is their year of birth decisive or their age at Jan. 1st? -

I'm almost too embarassed to start with this because my picks of Scott Thorson and Alexis Tsipras are going to haunt me for decades, but here it goes: 2015: The Love Boat (initial success: 4/20), now 9/20 1. Even everyday heavy drinkers have only around a 1 in 3 chance of developing chronic liver failure. Yeah but Gazza is at the extreme level of alcoholism. This is why I don't trust drug addicts on deathlist. They are unpredictable. Hard to call of course but I'd lay money his age on death will be younger than that of George Best. So he's gone well within 12 years. That's my problem with picking him in a deadpool (or with the Committet picking him). Yes, I believe he will die because of his addicition and he won't reach the age of 60, but that's still a long way to go. Basically a chance of 1/12th or so, though a death in the late 50s is much more likely than a death at 50. So what's the probability of his dath in 2017? Maybe 5%.

Time for someone to make a John Glenn vs. Buzz Aldrin poll. Edit: I'd vote for John Glenn. The article sounds to me as if he won't even see 2017.

Unbelievably (?), the DailyMail seem to have some kind of serial coverage on her: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3865596/Woman-Britain-s-fattest-teenager-dumped-boyfriend.html Update: She's still obese.

This one was it. So August 24th? I'll update the leaderboard above. Thanks, it doesn't even change that much, as the death of either Glen Campbell, Sumner Redstone or Geoffrey Bayldon (all good choices!) still give the victory to either MPFC, DI, or Toast.

This one was it. Apparently died on August, 24th, 237pts. Edit: This was the article that led me to him: http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/local/article46530485.html

I know, he's included in your score gcreptile. I'm pretty goddarn efficient you know.... Wow! But then I'm 12/25.

For some reason, I also have a lot of antipathy for/against (?) PewDiePie. Mid-last year I was trying to build an Internet Fame Theme Team with him as my joker. But I didn't get enough names. By the way, my plan to field a plastic surgery theme team ended with the death of its planned joker, Pete Burns. Otherwise, I wish death on Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Of course, I nominate myself and my prediction that Prince would be the next music shock death of the year in the "crystal ball of the year" category. I nominate YoungWillz in the "sage of the year" category.
