An obvious successor should the King of Thailand ever die.

Another profile of her cancer battle. Key info not mentioned before is that her cancer is now stage four, with tumors present in her lungs, liver, and lymph nodes... I think she's too fit to die any time soon, but she may well die around Christmas to become this year's Sadhana Shivdasani.

Now she's feeling 'stronger every day': http://www.dailyjournal.net/view/story/eb46aea0bca642ff98ea4bbddc61ece2/MD--Retired-Congresswoman-Hospice All that strength for naught, as she's just died. She died of brain cancer, I guess they just put her on a lot of painkillers which she thought was a healing process.

If he cancels even more concert post-Octobre, Merle Haggard-like, he must be a shoe-in.

“I called him, which was horrible of me,” she said. “I was in the car. I was with my mom, and the doctor called me and I’m, you know, ‘I’m going to wait until I see him,’ and I just couldn’t. So I picked up the phone and I called him and he was like, ‘Where are you?'” She's 45? She sounds more like a 15 year old. Wasn't there some talk of her suing somebody because they hadn't kept her insurance up to date, or something of the sort? Yes, that's the reason she gave for why her cancer wasn discovered a bit late. Her insurance had lapsed.

Also gambling again despite previously saying it almost drove him to suicide. Such a tragic story, his. Oh I don't know, I read that article from your link. He's still got a commentating job with the BBC that presumably pays more than shelf stacking at lidl or digging up roads, it says his 'house' is mortgaged and his cars (note the plural) are leased, he stuck 'only 20 quid' into a FOBT it was nothing.... I'm not saying a gambling addiction isn't bad news, unfortunate? Maybe, but his work and financial situation has some way to fall compared to a lot of the rest of us before it exactly qualifies as 'tragic' in my view. You've got to be able to borrow a million quid to get a million in debt, try that at the local HSBC and let us know He's still over a million quid in debt. A BBC Snooker commentary job is barely going to dent that as it's only for about 5 weeks a year - and he'll be paid per event not year these days. The comment about it being nothing is probably relative to the £20,000 he gambled on one bet at a race a few years ago. But almost all studies into addiction show that cold turkey works and if you keep in at a lower level you're going to be more susceptible to falling into addiction. Bankrupt Willie Thorne: "I'm potless, penniless. Even the Sky TV has been cut off" Meh, it seems he earns enough money but he just can't deal with it properly, i.e. when there's the snooker break.

Good ideas! Though I also want to include people with hair transplants (like Elton John, but also Jürgen Klopp) and there's no plastic involved, so now I'm thinking about "Plastic remnants and hair transplants" or maybe "Plastic remains and follicular gains" or something like that.

Just a little reminder that the gamble of 2017 is still on: Valeri Spiridonov, the head transplant guy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3721986/Patient-set-undergo-world-s-human-head-transplant-says-Dr-Frankenstein-reveal-details-operation-month.html The surgery is set for December 2017.

I get points for Steve LaTourette, I'm probably not the only one. Oh, and almost everyone gets points for Kate Granger.

Indeed, pancreatic cancer gets them all (except for Vera Caslavska, and maybe Sharon Jones, but then, she's only stage 2, so could take another year).

I'm in the process of finding the successor to Shameless which I guess/hope will be illegal under the new rules next year. So today I came up with the team "Plastic surgery is a compensation for the void inside". It's a theme team of people who had a make-over under the knife, but I'm trying to find a less eloquent name for it. I'm thinking of including Chelsea Manning, Caitlyn Jenner and Melania Trump, also Elton John. And Nicole Kidman.

Not only does Gord Downie, frontman of The Tragically Hip have terminal cancer, but now Darren Sawchuk, frontman of a Canadian The Tragically Hip-cover band, has terminal cancer, too: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/tragically-hip-cover-band-cancer-1.3705131 I guess the obit chances depend very much on timing. -
Tasteless, I like it...

Not that it matters much, but he actually got a BBC obit: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-36961788 I mean, we had a couple of cases with very late obituaries for Nobel Prize winners whose obits should be a guarantee, in my opinion.

Former Pakistani Test cricket captain Hanif Mohammed hospitalised with respiratory problems: http://www.firstpost.com/sports/former-pakistan-cricketer-hanif-mohammad-hospitalised-after-respiratory-problems-2927110.html His situation is probably lethal because of his lung cancer that is spreading. He wasn't picked in the Scavenger Deadpool. -

Maybe a child would change her. Never really liked her. She wants to be Marilyn Monroe so we can expect things when she turn 36. So Lohan's mom might have cancer, but who knows.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3716987/Dina-Lohan-s-family-fears-suffering-cancer-awaits-biopsy-results-spending-month-hospital.html -

and she ain't happy about it. She ain't happy about the "devastating setback" recently brought to her attention. Fair enough from her position, I'd say So the cancer has spread ot the lymph nodes. http://www.thewrap.com/shannen-doherty-says-her-breast-cancer-has-spread/ I'm not sure if this is a publicity grab, or actually going to get serious. She seems a little clueless about the situation though, sometimes...

Well, if we try to read between the lines, his mid-to-long term prospects don't seem too bright. So chemotherapy is considered a second- or third-line ("salvage") treatment after surgery and radiotherapy. Since he has already lost his other kidney, it's the only option left, but even if the tumour has responded well, it might only be a matter of time before it developed resistance against the drug. And then the doctors would run out of options. I guess the only (remote) chance for a cure would be a surgery if the tumour shrank even more and it could somehow be resected without sacrificing his kidney. But this possibility isn't even mentioned anywhere – I guess the doctors would consider it too risky due to his advanced age and already diminished kindey functions. True, though naturally, the long-term prospects aren't good for any one of us. One might say about Banks that the last line of defence is holding, for now.
