    Derby Dead Pool 2016

You should have got one, as I've sent it to everybody and have inputted your team... Ah, no sorry, I didn't receive it as far as I can tell. I submitted three teams in that same mail. But your word is all I need!

    World's Oldest

Now it's Ireland's oldest person: Molly Madden, dead at 109: http://www.thejournal.ie/oldest-person-dies-2552079-Jan2016/

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Possibly the sister of the shah, Pahlavi something. She had been picked before. Aden Hailu, DDTs delightfully shameless pick. Edit: Armando (?) or Alfredo (?) "Chocolate" Armenteros, possible unique hit for Death Impends. Editedit: Alfredo it is. Got a daily mail obit. Editeditedit: I assume Alan Rickman was a hit for a Harry Potter theme team?

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Pierre Boulez and cancer mums Kelly Morris and Sarah Jones for my theme team. I haven't yet received a confirmation email, could be the time pressure you're under. But since I added an internet link to each of my cancer celebrities (because they are complete no-names and indistinguishable from a thousand other people except for their cancer), except for the more prominent ones like Kate Granger, it could be that my mail might have fallen into your spam folder. I guess there were about 16-17 internet links in that email. I have the confirmation that my email got sent though (on the 30th), and I've listed my three teams in this thread, albeit in 2016. Plus I posted the links to my cancer mum death notifications in this thread.

    World War II Veterans

Hmm, apparently Chester wasn't the last. I have this on Bahe Ketchum, 96. http://www.abc15.com/news/region-northern-az/other/navajo-code-talker-bahe-ketchum-dies-in-flagstaff-at-age-96. Was Bahe the last? I'm not speculating. The mystery intensifies with another Navajo code talker, Kee Etsicitty, dying at 92 on July 21st according to Wikipedia: http://www.kvoa.com/story/29600997/navajo-code-talker-from-new-mexico-dies You know, after a fair number of pints I have been known to speak Navajo Code. SC The next Navajo Code talker is dead, Ernest Yazhe at 92: http://www.newsplex.com/home/headlines/Navajo-Code-Talker-Has-Died-365459131.html

    Personal Thoughts On Death

Being on the Deathlist has sort of altered my opinion on death. Now I am somewhat looking forward to joining "the club of dead people", not in the sense that I want it to be all over now, but that it feels like a natural thing.

    The dead of 2016

Dan Haggerty could indeed be a small miss. He was an unusual character (I guess) and his cancer was known. For some reason, I completely left him off my teams, even though I had a "pick every name only once" policy. It could be there was a time when things were looking better, but then I missed when they got worse. The committee as well?

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

No! It had better not. What next, a late December article 'People we lost in (insert year)' oh look there's his/her name!!! Gimmee my points! SC Yes, that would count according to the rules.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Hmm... I guess the relevant rule is this one: "Obituary" simply means an article which mentions the fact that the person has died. It doesn't have to be the conventional biographical write-up. Although I picked Delpech myself, I think it doesn't count, because it's not an article but a letter. It makes the absence of an official obituary even stranger though. Let's see if there's going to be a narrative this year à la "69 is the new 27" Some article will mention it and have a list with Delpech on it. Luckily, it's only January. But it could be that one needs a bit of patience here.

    Celine Dion

RIP... so the gossip mags were right for once, with their "this is their last christmas" and "Celine waving goodbye and all that". But then, looking at the deadpool teams, everyone knew it. Ah well, he mostly had the life (and wife) he wanted.

    Zsa Zsa Gabor

The source (the prince) is a little unreliable, but Zsa Zsa is still getting regular guests and is still alive: http://www.showbiz411.com/2016/01/13/zsa-zsa-gabor-is-still-alive-turning-99-years-old-next-month-has-regular-visitors

    David Bowie

Mike Garson, Bowie's veteran piano man, recalls how a psychic told Bowie with certainty that he's going to die around age 69/70: http://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2016/jan/14/david-bowie-mike-garson-pianist-interview I'm once again listening to the new album. Terrific. Well, at least now my all-time favourite celebrity is dead for a while and the pain is slowly receding.

    Shimon Peres

Also a potential DeathList member, after Ariel Scharon. I've always thought he'd die working. They say his heart attack was mild, so he probably won't rest a lot.
  14. My small pantheon of songs that I consider my absolute favourite: Ike & Tina Turner - River Deep, Mountain High Björk - Unravel David Bowie - Subterraneans U2 - With or Without You The Walker Brothers - The Electrician

    Harry Potter

In this context, he shares the fate of John Hurt, the "Harry Potter actor with pancreatic cancer".

    The Hartlepool Deadlypool

Wow... I knew that was the logical result of the rules as stated, but I thought, that couldn't possibly be right. I thought it would just reduce the bonus, not turn it around... Wicked thought of the day: Underage picks also get a negative bonus, so an underage basketball/baseball player multiplies a negative number with a negative number, lol... So if there's someone like that, he/she would be golden.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2017

Since I've lost three of my very favorite personal heroes in the past 12 months (Nimoy, Schmidt, Bowie), I thought I should post the whole list, especially because 2016 is looking to be a horrible, horrible year for celebrity deaths: Sigourney Weaver (born 1949) Bill Murray (born 1950) Jon Hassell (born 1937) Björk (born 1965) Brian Eno (born 1948) Michael Lewis (born 1960) perhaps Joseph Stiglitz (born 1943) Edit: Forgot Patrick Stewart (born 1940) Trent Reznor (born 1965)
  18. gcreptile

    Alan Rickman

God damnit! Edit: I should point out, he wasn't my very favorite actor, but then again, god damnit! Edit 2: Also 69!

    Hospitalised!

Colin Vearncombe a.k.a. "Black" hospitalised and in critical condition after car crash: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/jan/14/colin-vearncombe-black-in-critical-condition Had a hit album and two hit singles in the 80s. Kept recording until last year.

    Suicidal Celebs

Former colombian world cup goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon hospitalised after possibly attempting suicide: http://www.espnfc.com/colombia/story/2786064/ex-colombia-goalkeeper-faryd-mondragon-hospitalised I remember his time with the 1. FC Köln.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Prediction: The current hits record of 15 is going to be broken this year by more than one team. Score record, too, as the almost logical consequence. "Sadly", I'll have the jobs upgrade from next month on. If not, I had considered helping with the bios and/or even "applying" to run one of the regular deadpools myself. Huge thanks to everyone involved.

    Reality TV

He would be my first DDP hit that I've had by simply looking at a picture and thinking: "Wow, this guy is about to die."

    Wrestlers/actors

In terms of mortality (not obitability) I wanted to take as few risks as possible with my main team. I considered Kris Travis to be a tiny risk because he wasn't in the cancer-is-untreatable-death-is-just-a-matter-of-time stage. But I thought that the tiniest new cancer recurrence, the tiniest new ulcer in his stomach would mean certain death for his already weakened body. A bit like Jenny Diski except more dangerous.
  24. David Bowie - Heroes Sorry... that's the one song by him I've heard too much. Also, Bryan Adams, Summer of 69.
