Wow, all my instincts were telling me in December that he was about to die. I should have listened to them.

Ha! The occasionally snobish and elitist Telegraph has an "official" obit for Mr. Dubois. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2016/04/05/ed-dubois-yacht-designer---obituary/ -

It took me 0.000000000000000000000001 seconds to 'consider' them; coincidentally their obit chances. SC I think they'll both obit. That filmaker won the Palme D'Or at Cannes. Two almost guaranteed Guardian obits. -
I had to look up how Yoshiro Nakamatsu is doing and saw that he "invented" a "defense wig": http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-guard-weaponized-wig_us_56d603b4e4b0871f60ed0584 Doesn't look too bad in that one-month old video. Edit: Gah, I thought I had the inventors' thread, not the investor's thread.

There's a serious illness in Tom Jones' immediate family: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/artists/tom-jones-pulls-out-of-asia-world-tour-dates-due-to-serious-illn/ He canceled a couple of Asian cocnerts because of this. The management says it's not his wife.

I would really like to start a tradition with my deadpooling hits. However, The Love Boat only had 4 hits in its first year which makes starting a tradition somewhat difficult. In fact, the only kind of picks I can think of, that gave me a hit in 2015 as well as in 2016, is people related to child abuse trials. First, Leon Brittan in 2015, then Ronald Mulkearns in 2016. So for 2017, I'm keeping an eye on Lord Patrick Mayhew, rumoured to be in ill health: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/exni-secretary-of-state-present-at-disciplinary-hearing-into-paedo-doctor-34595401.html

Meaning his recall and command of the English language is still in fine shape On a related note,I actually wonder if Kirk Douglas writes his Huffington Post columns himself,. He probably dictates them and someone else translates it into something coherent.

Well, it's not a race. It's impossible for him or anyone to keep up that hit rate, simply because you run out of names at some point. I mean, I fully expect all 20 people on my Love Boat roster to be dead by the end of the year (but they might not all obit...). It then depends on the quality of the hits. But then, DDT made quite a gamble on Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, far from a sure thing, but very decisive if successful.

Demjanjuk gambit, anyone? As stated earlier, I now believe nearly all those who are incarcerated and have 'terminal illnesses' are full of hyperbole, poi, and bullshit. I've left them off my teams and believe you've all been suckered in by people like Howard Marks and Lynne Stewart (and a couple others no need to mention). So if we have another candidate here, I've made my pre-determination on the merit of his claim. If Howard Marks dies this year of the affliction complained of, I'll buy each of you a Curly-Wulry candy bar. SC Dead, as reported for some reason here: http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8613&p=260670 Guardian Obit: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/apr/04/ronald-mulkearns-bishop-accused-of-child-sex-abuse-cover-up-dies Well, the obit did appear rather easily... I was secretly dreaming of getting a unique hit with him. But then I kind of expected Davey Jones' locker to pick him. But it was DDT instead.

Well, I keep waiting for the crucial poll Cher vs. George Lazenby. And how about Nicholas Roeg vs. Wendy Beckett?

BBC Obit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35933390 but nobody picked him for the DDP. I thought about picking one of those Literature Nobel Prize winners, but focused mostly on Alice Munro. I think Kertesz was still active in public last year. This has been a bigger day in the history of deadpooling.

Congratulations to the record breakers! For me, the most important thing is that my A team The Love Boat finally has more hits than my B Team again, as it was supposed to be.

A bit like Johan Crujff, didn't he give an interview a couple of weeks ago and was seemingly on the mend? But in his case, the timing was right for deadpooling, whereas Crujff's temporary recovery happened around the turn of the year.

Initially, I thought that this year, death would strike France especially hard, but to be honest, it's the UK that is getting hit the worst. There's a big UK celebrity dying every day, sometimes even two. I actually had the idea to pick Zaha Hadid for a while, mostly because I was looking for obitable arcitects (another neglected target group, in my opinion, especially those that have won the Pritzker Prize). Also, I somehow mentally merged Zaha and Gigi Hadid into one big obitable super-celebrity. Zaha Hadid was one of the most reknowned arcitects of the world, pretty much an A-list celebrity like Pierre Boulez in the world of high culture. Though as I recall, towards the end of her career her star had faded a bit because of repetitive works, or something like that.
