Though, of course, we only notice when he's in bad health, not when he's fine. I think he's got a couple of years left. He's not that bad as a pick though, if they aim to introduce him and then build him up over the next 2-3 years.

Was Jake Bailey the one undiscussed name you considered your joker at one point? The one you talked about in the Derby Dead Pool Thread? That was my guess back then. And I think you made the right decision. His cancer is aggressive, but can also be beaten by even more aggressive measures. He's definitely no joker. Edit: Not that I have any right to give you suggesstions, but I just like solving riddles of the "I know someone nobody has discussed before..." variety.

Good inclusion from the "new blood" perspective. I have him in a team because I thought he might be one to die simply by age.
-
I don't know, he's like a placeholder so that the committee fulfills the rule the replace 25 people each year. I think Eddie Large would have been a better pick.

Alright, here are mine: The Love Boat 1. Joey Feek (joker) 2. Peter Esterhazy 3. Pierre Boulez 4. Vera Caslavska 5. Rowena Kincaid 6. Paul Cox 7. Ronald Mulkearns (a unique? time doesn't have him. Edit: No, DDT has him. I already realized we think too much alike, see: Gary Haggarty.) 8. Linda Horan 9. Bonnie Brown 10. Kris Travis 11. Geoffrey Robinson 12. Yoshiro Nakamatsu 13. Andrew Yeaman 14. Martin Crowe 15. Jackie Storrar 16. Errol Christie 17. René Angelil 18. G. Monty Brinson 19. Michel Delpech 20. Gary Haggarty The B-Team 1. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (joker) 2. Henri Richard 3. Roh Tae-Woo 4. Goran Hadzic 5. Sandy McDonald 6. Betty Cuthbert 7. Jim McLean 8. Thomas Libous 9. Sumner Redstone 10. Phil Gartside 11. Ross Hannaford 12. Stan Mikita 13. Fast Eddie Fryer 14. Nikolaus Harnoncourt 15. Louise Plowright 16. Terri Roberts 17. Mother Angelica 18. Eric Lubbock 19. Brian Shivers 20. Edwin Drummond Shameless (terminal illness fame theme team) 1. Sarah Jones (joker) 2. Tom Bradshaw 3. Mark Nurthen 4. Jordan Lotter 5. Helen Hutchinson 6. Kristin Hallenga 7. Craig Lyons 8. Jake Bailey 9. Margaret Lowbridge 10. Kelly Morris 11. Debbie Blackhurst 12. Lisa Brown 13. Jack Wells 14. Connie Johnson 15. Sarah Swindells 16. Charlotte Eades 17. Andy Haworth 18. Steven Monks 19. Angela Sykes 20. Kate Granger Funny how I ended up with 2 australian bishops (could have chosen Pell as well), two UK club owners (could have chosen Kenwright as well), two canadian hockey players, two Irish criminals, two conductors, two major olympic champions... Edit: Oh, and I'm obviously setting myself up for a scenario in which the combined hits of my teams make me a winner, but each single team doesn't. I say, bring it on!

Congratulations Cpt. Chorizo!

Some good new choices, some dramatic omissions, conventional nr. 1, but I don't have a better idea. Ok effort, could have been better.

I don't have my list with me at the moment, but the person that was closest to being picked, but eventually wasn't, for any of my teams, was Dynamite Kid. I also decided against picking Sharon Jones and Johan Cruyff for the DDP. Also, I pushed benefit fraud John Larder to Shaun's deadpool at the last minute.
-
Congratulations to the winners, especially Spade. A truly impressive feat, even if he got a little lucky. But you've still got to get to a position where luck makes a difference first. I would have liked to see Death Impends win, for diversity. But it wssn't meant to be. I did like Spade's riskier choices though.

There was no other person I shifted more often from team to team than him. I think he's getting very frail and he's slowly retreating from public. I say, he definitely won't see 2018...but he's not a lock this year.
-
Gunther von Hagens. My partner just recently "donated" his body to their project. Von Hagens himself didn't sign the contract, in fact, his field (?) was left empty and only his assistant signed.
-
In October he said that some new drug gives him a 50% chance of living for another year, so apparently, the chance to see 2017 is lower than 50%. So it's a big miss, I can't understand the omission.

^^ Yeah, complicated question. I have no idea...

Damn! I just realized I put Susannah Mushatt Jones and Emma Morano in two of my teams, here and in Shaun's Pool. I'd like to replace them in this competition with my first two subs MN Sharma and Heinrich List. Is that ok? I have a weird fixation on not using any name twice.

Wow, Alan Moore, a war photograph who made pictures of Bergen-Belsen already died in Septemer, but I declined to post it because he didn't seem important enough. But now, more than 3 months later, a Telegraph obit appears: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/12076325/Alan-Moore-war-artist-obituary.html A record?

They usually do it a couple of minutes before midnight GMT. So about 5 hours from now. There is a dateline issue here that the committee perhaps does need to think about .... in this particular .. the 'Martin Crowe question'. He is there in the 2015 list ... and will no doubt be in the 2016 list .... but if he goes west before midnight GMT and the lists publication he can't score in either '15 or '16. Death List is not simply a UK phenomenon .... it's global ..... and should reflect that. Publishing the list as the globe crosses into the New Year would maximise potential. Haha, interesting thought. An empty front page, all 50 places still void. Then Martin Crowe appears on, say, 7th place. Then an hour later, an Australian or a Japanese Person appears, and bit by bit all 50 places are filled. With the Americans however not appearing until 6 o'clock GMT or something like that.

Just in... a burning hotel in Dubai, in proximity to the Burj al-Arab. A strike at christmas tourists?

I think I made the first version of my 2016 DDP team around August or September or so, wait...I'm pretty sure, it was the beginning of August, because the first person on it to die was Buddy Baker. Let me see if I can think of all the others on my three prospective DDP teams who didn't make it: Oliver Sacks (who died really quick), Phyllis Tickle (blessing in disguise, no obit), Liz Monks (ditto), Brian Sewell, Henning Mankell, Mary Burrows (disappointed for losing a likely unique), Michael C. Gross, Flip Saunders (didn't take long from treatment not working, to being dead), Carey Lander (a joker), Holly Woodlawn, Adele Horin, John Trudell (replacement for Woodlawn who lasted 3 days on my team), Ken McHugh (cancer dad), Heather McManamy (cancer mum), Daniel Fleetwood (the Star Wars fan), Elizabeth Laird aka the "Hug Lady", Lorraine Marsh (cancer bride), Courtney Terry (another cancer mum) and maybe William McIllvaney who was a sub at one point. That's 20 people, hmm, enough for a team. Let's see, 10 of them were on my main team, 5 on my second main team, and 5 on my theme team.

Marin Mazzie talks about her ovarian cancer: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/31/theater/marin-mazzie-on-cancer-and-songs-in-the-key-of-life.html?_r=0 There were complications, but for the moment, she feels "normal".

Ron Ford, "Prophet" of Parliament Funkadelic, is dead at 67: http://www.app.com/story/entertainment/2015/12/31/ron-ford-prophet-parliament-funkadelic-has-died/78120578/

And he isn't even Deathrace point-worthy, because he isn't "widely believed to be alive at January 1st". And according to the english Wikipedia-page, he died on the 30th.
-
Yeez, luckily he was only on my preliminary Shaun's Deadpool team which is the only team I haven't submitted yet. He was too risky obit-wise for me, let's see if that opinion turns out to be correct.
-
He will be interesting to watch. I think a nerd's diet does not go well with cancer, so I guess there's an outside chance he'll die this year already. He's also so visible on the web that one can watch his progress/decline.
