    Sepp Blatter

Interesting story. I actually believe that Blatter never participated actively in the corruption itself. But his system was "you can get your money, I just want the job", i.e. he knew all about it, only wanted to top job for himself, and possibly uses his knowledge to block potential rivals. Another indication that he can't live without FIFA - if he had wanted more money for himself, it might have shown that he has other interests in his life, but I suspect he doesn't.

    Somewhere Over The Rainbow

It was a bit surprising she lasted as long as she did, considering that she was basically waiting for death for half a year. But it's still a bit painful to die in December. Though I guess that the "ambitious" deadpooler actually welcomes her death, because she was on everyone's list anyway and now she can be replaced with someone who requires more research.

    1. Jimmy Carter

Yes, to all said above. I think his survival in 2016 is far from sure (and once it's back, it's going to be the end.). But I admit that the personal deathlist that I sent to msc was a bit premature...

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Thanks for your work, again! About the definition of "obituary": If an article merely refers in passing to the ...passing... of a certain person, does it count? Something like "Oldest person of Europe XYZ has died (...) She became oldest person of Europe after person ZYX died earlier this year (in the same year, but didn't get an obit)." Good idea to give super-centenarians only 3 points!

    End Times - The Rapture

In that context, El Nino is going to be huuuuge this year: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/el-nio-set-become-mega-6958469 Though personally, I was even more scard by the news this week that in the past 40 years, 30% of all arable land on earth has been destroyed: http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/dec/02/arable-land-soil-food-security-shortage In fact, because of this, I now have the opinion that food needs to be more expensive, and competition in agriculture needs to be curtailed. It's like overfishing. Another reason the new free trade agreements need to be killed.

Who Should Be On The 2016 Deathlist?

I'm a bit torn because, for example, I think De Cuellar will die next year. On the other hand, he isn't fun to read about and I don't care if he lives or dies (sorry!). If the Death List wants to maximize its hits, they should keep him. If the site wants more hits, they should go for someone else. I think I'd leave out Fidel Castro. Also yes to Kercheval, Lee, Day, Norden, Kissinger and Roberts.

Stairway To Heaven/ Highway To Hell

Yeah you were a little casual announcing this one Y-Dub. I hope you don't break the news when Castro or Carter goes. Yaaaaawn yeah someone died, DDP team needs an obit.....meh. SC Tbh, I can't say I've ever heard of this guy up to this point, far less any of his choons. The STP band name rings a vague bell, but it is well off my radar, so he gets the same treatment as everyone else. In fact he could have got worse had I been bothered to include the phrase "heroin and crack cocaine addict". I think you'll find I'm a little more detailed/enthusiastic/shocked/euphoric, etc etc with deaths about which I care. It's up to others who do care about specific deaths to further comment on the thread in which they are reported. Calm yer jets. STP were popular in the 90s, but then drifted towards the where-are-they-now? genre. I'd heard of them, never really bothered to listen to their music. So when someone told me at a gig I was at last night and said "Scott Weiland is dead", my reply was "oh that's a shame" and then went back in after a smoke to order a beer. Same here. They were very popular with a particular alternative/indie crowd, but remained basically faceless to the general public. Sort of like Daisy Berkowitz, I guess.

    Jamaican Jamming

Ah! I saw this one, had made a mental note of it (so shortly after Ninja Man). I thought she was on the mend...ah well... I'm very interested in her obit reach now (in case she's representative of Dancehall in general).

Country For Old Men (And Women)

Country legend Merle Haggard has pneunomia: http://theboot.com/merle-haggard-pneumonia/ Not necessarily dangerous for a 78-year old man, but he's a long-time smoker and also had lung cancer at one point. The article also mentions that Haggard's current collaborator Willie Nelson required stem-cell therapy in the summer to help his lungs. Of course, he's also a long-time smoker - if not THE long-time smoker.of all kinds of things.

If I had hung out more on another forum I used to frequent, I might have guessed it. Apparently, he was in pretty bad shape since around April/May.
