    Next Music Shock Death!

I believe Kate Bush will reach a fairly high age, 90+, and she'll be surrounded by death rumours for decades.
  2. gcreptile

    Jimmy Carter

Isn't melanoma cancer on, uuhh. the top of the skin? I could imagine they can scrape it away as it returns, for a while... as long as it doesn't spread which might happen at any point.

    Michael Schumacher

Yes, I would agree with Bibliogryphon. Maybe they had improving brain activity that came to an end. It either reversed or stopped improving. Other theories: they are preparing the public to turn off life support, or Michael is actually conscious and is giving signs of wanting to die. I am sure they talked about what would happen in a horrific accident, though the expectation was a car crash, not a skiing accident. I could imagine that Michael, being a total perfectionist with towering willpower, believed he could overcome even the worst medical problems (he was a special hero to me and my family because he was "one of us", i.e. grew up around the corner,). But now he realised that it's never going to be as it was before.

I realised last week that my guess is the same day that I already had for Jimmy Carter. That will be an interesting day here... Also, I was surprised she even lasted into the new year. I mean, I was the one to first mention her, and did so with the words "It doesn't sound too good". Yet, she's still alive. So her cancer is progressing relatively slowly (relative to the statistics or the doctors' expectations). Now it looks like she won't matter for the Deathrace at all. And who knows, maybe spring is possible.

    Next Music Shock Death!

I'd give the highest chance of a freak death (in more than one way) to Prince. It's about time for him to go so that even his later work receives some kind of critical (over-)appraisal, as it happened with Jackson and maaaybe Bowie (though some of the newer stuff is fantastic as well and the last album was a cultural milestone). The easy guess not on the list is Chuck Berry, of course, so old, he already inspiured the Beatles, but it also wouldn't surpise anyone. It's more remarkable that he's still alive.

Who Should Be On The 2016 Deathlist?

    Yes, indeed, Toast.

^^ Evil... But now I'm reminded of another one, and I'm in the right mood for it:

Who Should Be On The 2016 Deathlist?

Dead, with obligatory telegraph obit: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/12140770/Sir-Jeremy-Morse-banker-obituary.html He was also a proficient crossword creator, I believe there's a special term for it. He could have been a very creative pick for the Death List.

There must be more to life than this? Surely? Haha, thankfully, there is, Mr. I-picked-Aden-Hailu. But I admit, the boredom of my old work, and the possibility to use the internet liberally during that time, was one of about three main incentives to create that theme team. I'm glad that time is over, because I wanted to feel more useful again.

Horan has died, and got the requisite obit: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3427312/Ailing-woman-sued-state-marijuana-dies.html Fuck yeah! One of the gambles, but then the Daily Mail prints every AP thing now. Now I need Andrew Yeaman to die and obit, and I might think about something big. Also, the second unique hit for my main team. I See you've Delpech crossed off but Brinson not. To date (and my impeccable knowledge) no one has posted an obit for Delpech that would pass the Sir Creep Test. SC Yeah, it's corrected now (I cross off the names regardless of obits.). I'm in the first week of my new job (it's great, indeed, but on the other hand, it was also really necessary.) and I'm not quite up-to-date with everything. I think my excel list is already missing five new cancer mums.

Dear Lord, that was bad music...and that simple Eurobeat techno rhythm came about 4 years too late...

Ah, the candidate with the potential to hurt me the most, has died... A huge error of mine, I think I replaced him on Dec. 30th with Jackie Storrar. A shame for Mr. Farren, I really thought he looked good to last for a while, a bit like Christie Dignam who apparently returns onto the agenda in 2017.

Doing even worse now. Ugh, he was on Shameless for a while... until that one tweet.

Some news on the terminally ill non-celebrities on my team: Tom Bradshaw actually died in December, but it was only made public in January: http://www.worksopguardian.co.uk/news/local/worksop-tributes-paid-to-incredible-husband-dad-and-raf-airman-who-lost-battle-with-cancer-aged-23-1-7658390 Bad luck, but such cases had to be expected.... Jake Bailey's (the student with the inspirational speech) cancer is in remission: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3422578/Jake-Bailey-New-Zealand-amazing-speech-battling-cancer-announces-disease-remission.html On the other hand, relatively obitable Charlotte Eades rather has weeks instead of months left to live, if you watch her youtube videos. Should she die before Joey Feek, she might put Shameless into the virtual lead once more.

    Minimalists (and other classical composers/musicians)

French soprano Denise Duval, the 'muse' of Poulenc (who?), dead at 94: http://slippedisc.com/2016/01/poulencs-muse-has-died-aged-94/ Re-discovered norwegian composer Leif Solberg also dead, at 101. http://slippedisc.com/2016/01/a-rediscovered-composer-has-died/

    Nazi of SS

German article on "the last offenders of Auschwitz"; http://www.tagesspiegel.de/politik/ns-verbrechen-wer-sind-die-letzten-taeter-von-auschwitz/12872360.html Mostly just biographical details about Reinhold Hanning and Hubert Zafke. Zafke gets some more obitability because the newspaper is asking "Did he meet Anne Frank?" There are two more possible names: SS-guardsman Ernst T. (93 years old) and SS radio operator Helma M. (91 years old).

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Well you may be best to lay low with that Shameless 'theme team'. Just sayin. I'm actually glad you are proving a point and hopefully the Hassan Asif's of the world will no longer be allowed. I hope you win the whole enchilada with that team. It's the only way change will happen. BUT......if you want to anger a lot of people around here keep promoting the success of that team. SC Hey, with Monty Brinson dead, I have two teams in the top 10 now, not even counting the possible (?) obit for Michel Delpech. That's got to count for something... But as written above, yes, Shameless will drop a little. A couple of very iffy cases of obitability. Should be good for 70-80 pts though.

    Reality TV

Time has run out. Dead at 58. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3415139/Kim-Richards-ex-husband-Monty-Brinson-dies-age-58-battle-lung-cancer.html 8 DDP teams had him and the Mail obit qualifies. msc will be pissed off, as stated earlier in the thread. Sad, he seemed like a nice guy.

    Jenny Diski

It looks as if she had a really tough time, a phase of really strong treatment, but she's come out of it alive and it worked, so for the next couple of months, she's going to survive. I'm feeling pretty good about not picking her at the moment (But I hedged my bets and picked her in another pool).
