    Deathrace 2015

Eh, so now I have even failed at totally failing, now that Ornette Coleman is dead. Aye, but it's only a game fella. All this beating yourself up....just an idea, like; when they call the next DLCon come along, neck a pint and chill with the rest of us. Ah, it was just my extremely passive-aggressive way of saying "I called it!"

    Death By Jazz

He's actually a huuuuge name in jazz circles. That's a very significant death. Not as big as Christopher Lee's, but bigger than Ron Moody's. Indeed a huge name (I'm a musicals fan so I'll disagree on Moody ha ha). Apparently he had just filed a lawsuit against his former colleagues for releasing New Vocabulary without his permission. Maybe the shock and strain of the last year in preparation for this step was too much, I dunno. http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6582967/ornette-coleman-lawsuit-antibalas-jordan Indeed, very unexpected. I had him on my deathrace team, mainly because in contrast to many other blues/jazz legends, he quit touring and stopped recording. He was one of the last people from the golden age of jazz. Miles Davis or John Coltrane died rather early deaths, so he was a bit overdue... Yet, the lawsuit indicated otherwise, but then Christopher Lee signed on to a new movie last month. These are the statistical deaths you cannot predict in particular, only in the aggregate.

    Interesting Ways To Die...

Man falls into a grain feed mixer: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/man-falls-grain-feed-mixer-dies-central-ohio-31659657 "Family members told investigators he had been feeding cattle several hours earlier." So a couple of hours after he fed cattle, he became cattle food himself.

    Helmut Kohl

Some new media reports in Germany: http://www.focus.de/politik/deutschland/kanzler-der-einheit-auf-der-intensivstation-sorge-um-helmut-kohl-gab-es-komplikationen_id_4742071.html His situation is still "unchanged", i.e. just like the last time they say he's doing well "considering the circumstances". They don't let anyone near him, just like in the last couple of years. Apparently, there were complications after the second operation, just a day after the last press release. That former press release said that he was planning to go on a holiday, but now it looks to be a lie or wishful thinking.

    The Dead Of 2015

Australian ambient artist Steve Roach has about 150 albums: http://steveroach.com/Music/discography.php?query= Plus, the guest appearances on other albums. I see that some entries in that list are duplicates/re-releases, so maybe the "real" number is around 130. On the other hand, he also likes to record 4-hour long albums like "Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces". Many of his records are relatively same-y though, but occasionally, there are gems and new ideas to be found. I guess electronic ambient artists are pretty high on such a list. Tangerine Dream also has tons of albums, or their collaborator Klaus Schulze. I guess jazz artists don't count because at some level of fame every live appearance sees a studio release, and these are not really studio albums.

and then ten years later at 86. Hmm, dying twice is quite a feat I suppose 86 is probably the number of chart albums he had as well. Number of albums 65. Changed his name from Hans to sound less German. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33075466. Thank providence for the BBC. In Germany, he even had 115 albums in the charts. It's the record.
