Well I see it has already received some rave reviews in the British press. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/eurovision/11457228/Eurovision-2015-Electro-Velvet-will-ensure-we-dont-win.html But staying on topic, it's worth noting that the female part of the duo, Bianca (26) is living with cystic fibrosis, an incurable, hereditary disease that reduces lifespans by 20+ years with large variance. Some people with the condition may die in their twenties (albeit this is now rare), so she could make a weak but potentially lucrative DDP candidate (low likelihood of dying, but many points if she dies). On a related note, the Finnish contestants are middle aged punk rockers "with learning disabilities". One of them looks as if he had a hereditary genetic defect. Of course, even IF... an obit in the UK would be in doubt. http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2015/feb/27/finnish-punk-band-take-punt-eurovision-title Is there any Deathlist potential behind the sudden withdrawal of the winner of the German preliminary competition? I was wondering about that, poor lad going from Voice of Germany 2013 to Ideas and Possibilities for 2016. Immortality of sorts.. I had to think about him (in our context) as well. He is a bit of a weirdo compared to the clichés that usually win casting shows. He likes to cancel concerts if he feels his artistry compromised. There are rumours that he molested a female fan during a concert. He just canceled some other concerts but my interest in him is already waning. Apparently, he's been silent on social media for a couple of days, so maybe he's having a bit of a breakdown at the moment, but he does not have any fatal illness as far as we know. Since the last post Andreas Kümmert has posted to Facebook basically giving a vague reason for dropping out of Eurovision as being he didn't know what he would achieve by participating. Mental health probably should be questioned though cynically I wonder whether it's simply a stunt to improve his public profile. Anyway, he has a very nasty beard so I'm quite pleased he's not representing Germany. The less beards the better (unless they're neat and tidy a la Conchita Wurst). Incidentally, is the UK entry for 2015 relevant to this thread seeing as it will die a painful death? Without thinking about it I can recall two worse entries and that doesn't even include Jemini. I think the quality of the song has very little to do with the UK's poor performance. Do tell! The UK has been left behind by Eurovision. The introduction of the semi-finals and the eastward expansion seems to conspire against us. It was pretty awful watching Bonnie Tyler and Englebert Humpandink be humiliated with single point finishes but the year Jemini got zero (yes they were awful) but we also invaded Iraq I do not think we were very popular in Europe as a whole and our current "If we don't get what we want we will take our ball away" attitude doesn't make us feel part of the fold. We in Germany often thought the same. But then we won in 2010 even though southern Europe already had plenty of reason to hate us, so these excuses can't count anymore. But then I have no problem to admit that lots of our entries are simply bad. I liked your choice of Bonnie Tyler, and it was an ok song. But those "new" eastern european countries take the competition relatively seriously. They actually nominate some of their best artists and songs. And their audience is probably relatively young (and cosmopolitan), so their tastes go towards modern music. So Tyler wasn't a good fit, and Humperdinck (?) was just terrible. If Great Britain nominated some famous artists whose last hit isn't 10 years old (or a boyband whose last hit was 5 years old) they'd have good chances I guess (Adele?). But your good artists don't need this competition, they have enough success anyway.

Another article about him and statements from him: http://globalnews.ca/news/1889103/daddy-smoked-crack-torontos-former-mayor-rob-ford-on-cancer-drugs-and-his-political-future/ He'll soon know whether the tumour is small enough for an operation or not. It actually doesn't sound very good because he has at least two tumours.

I was thinking about posting the news of his son beginning to race here. I mean, what is going on in that family? Can't they try something safer?

Another deathlist miss... (though I guess they were close when they chose him in 2014).

His partial resignation surprised me, considering his statements about how he envisiones the Cricket World Cup in 2019. Maybe he's a bit moody at the moment, somewhere between two stages of grief. It's reminding me of the Sam Simon of 2014. Sam had his animals, Martin has his cricket. He definitely has a couple of months left, and might end up on every non-theme team in 2016.

Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the first space walk. The responsible kosmonaut Alexej Leonov is still alive, now 80.

Another candidate from the world fo Cricket: http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/apexchange/2015/03/17/cri--south-africa-rice.html Former South African Captain Clive Rice has a procedure on a brain tumor. Initially, they thought it was inoperable and he was about to die, now they try to defeat it with lasers.

He's back. He looks a little weak, in fact. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/mar/16/vladimir-putin-makes-first-public-appearance-amid-health-speculations There's a rumour he had the flu. That could be. It must have been something a little embarassing to admit. Maybe measles or something that makes him appear less of a man.

Japanese cartoonist Yoshihiro Tatsumi dead at 79: http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-yoshihiro-tatsumi-20150315-story.html His mangas marked a turning away from escapism, more towards gritty, realistic story-telling of the disillusionment of ordinary people.

Clive James once again discussing how close he is to death: http://www.theguardian.com/culture/2015/mar/15/clive-james-interview-done-lot-since-my-death He's apparently still very productive. Details on his health a bit further down. He was apparently recovering well, but recently there have been signs that the cancer is coming back.

When I posted the news above, I was unaware that he had been in hospital for five months, only to return to his home, not even appearing in public. I think the next health crisis will finish him.

I really should have made Sam my Joker. I mean, how much better could it be? He was in the third-best age bracket and with a 100% chance dead before 2016. It's the difference between 5th place and 24th. Though generally, I am satisfied with my picks. My first attempt at this was a bit rushed, I think I can do better next year.

Something about "Did she really want to publish that second book"? I don't quite understand it.

That's what that article writes: "he would be ready to resign like his predecessor rather than ruling for life." I have two thoughts about that. Good. Governments, like nappies, should be changed often and for the same reason. I hope he stays on for a few more years. He seems a decent bloke, as popes go. I agree, for a pope he's relatively ok.

I'll be amazed if she does actually, she is pretty much dead really but Von Anhalt will keep her 'alive' on her machines, he is already planning her 100th Birthday party in February 2017. And her mother also got 100 years old.

Pontificates about his pontificate which, he believes, will be short: http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/13/us-pope-anniversary-interview-idUSKBN0M91IP20150313 He could imagine abdicating like his predecessor though.

Andrea Annear, part of Britain's first-ever married couple with Down's Syndrome, dead at 45: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/andrea-annear-wife-britains-first-5324752 -
There are also rumours about a botox injection gone wrong, or that some powerful people in the background (ex-KGB) might try to topple Putin because his economic course has led to disaster. By the way, I like that in the top 5 "Most read in news" in the Mirror they seem to have a special news category for "boobs" (which, of course, is at the top at the moment).
