I wanted to use this death to start a business people thread. There were a couple of deaths in that category lately, like the Toyota and Nintendo bosses. But now it would be a double post. However, I also can't think of a smart and witty thread title.

Frustrated with Mandela... I say Vera Lynn.

Mandela. I had the feeling that he would survive one more member of the list, and that turned out to be Bernie Nolan, I was too afraid to post because I was very, very wrong when I voted for Kirk Douglas. But now it's Mandela's turn.

His soul is now a prisoner of a machine.

Admits that there is a "gay lobby"/velvet mafia in the Curia. Also says that he is too unorganised to do reforms.

Well, I wonder if he got the virus from his wife or from someone else... And if he got it from his wife, where did she get it from?

Two suggestions: Demi Moore who is approaching Lindsay Lohan territory, and Liza Minelli who has aged considerably, and if you watched the new Arrested Development episodes you know that she will not appear in any future episodes or a movie.

Helmut Schmidt has recently been on a media tour: Here he is saying that the EU is in a deep institutional crisis: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/altkanzler-helmut-schmidt-sieht-eu-institutionen-in-der-krise-a-902711.html Here is his new book that came out last month: http://www.amazon.de/Ein-letzter-Besuch-Begegnungen-Weltmacht/dp/3827500346/ref=la_B001HPX2P2_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369912412&sr=1-1 Here he is talking on german television about China last week: http://www.daserste.de/unterhaltung/talk/beckmann/sendung/02052013-weltmaechte-der-zukunft-100.html He still looks remarkably well and is probably going to last a while longer. He mentions though that it's "his last visit to France", or that it was "his last visit to China."

Heh, yes, but to be fair, the german paper 'Die Welt' picked up the story. It's a mainstream paper: http://www.welt.de/newsticker/leute/stars/article115025155/Liegt-Kirk-Douglas-im-Sterben.html

Sad, I liked him... and he sounded strangely cheerful just two days ago. Even sadder, I predicted it. Edit: His website shows that the last movie he reviewed was 'The Host'. Did Stephenie Meyer's work kill him?
-
Kirk Douglas, a matter of days I think.
-
Apparently, he's close to dying: german source: http://www.promiflash.de/naechster-schicksalsschlag-fuer-douglas-familie-13040435.html They're quoting a report of Globe Magazine (whatever that is). Anyway, the Google tells me that there are numerous recent stories about him (could all be the same source though), e.g.: http://www.showbizspy.com/article/258506/kirk-douglas-is-dying.html

Who Should Be On The 2013 Deathlist?
gcreptile replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList Forum
I want to suggest Roger Ebert, 70. http://www.hollywood...h-update-406083 Edit: I have to admit that I didn't know Luise Rainer - as a german! And she's the only german Academy Award-winning actress, amazing. -
I'm trying to think of next year's Whitney Houston. Hmm.. maybe Prince.
