So .. What Do You Watch On TV?
gcreptile replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Watching Graham Hancock's ancient civilization humbug on Netflix (2nd season). I do have to say though, he makes Erich von Däniken's ancient aliens theory seem much more likely in comparison. Edit: Oh, so Hancock's son Sean works for Netflix. That's why it's there. https://x.com/SeanHancock7 -
Interesting. Kind of like an Indian Jimmy Carter, even with the commumism! (...joking...) But yeah, they describe him as India's communist titan. That should be enough for a BBC obit.

BBC joins in on the Biya speculation, and it looks like Malawi's president Chakwera faces similar rumours: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce3w73n8dqdo

Thread for Randy Newman, the happiest pessimist in the music business, two-time Oscar winner, three-time Emmy winner, six-time Grammy winner, 74 years old. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Newman He just had to cancel his European tour because of a "severe knee condition": https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2018/0117/934011-randy-newman-forced-to-cancel-two-dublin-shows/ He'll probably live on for 10 more years, but I thought he deserves his own thread, he's just that kind of guy.

Oh yeah, and more interesting for our purposes, he just had a phone interview with the New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/17/arts/music/randy-newman-biography.html He recently broke his neck twice (!). His hand movement has recovered though, suggesting there's some life in him yet.

Sells his discography for $150 million: https://deadline.com/2024/10/randy-newman-sells-music-catalog-1236118204/ I kind of cant wait for the "who should be on the DeathList" thread, just to suggest Newman, Petula Clark and Liza Minnelli. Edit: Where did I get that number from... reddit...???

Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets

What?? How did TMZ get pictures of Sinwar's dead body? -
Thank you @Lafaucheuse for running this pool! It has established itself quite well. I also like my collection of hits, between A-listers you could have seen on the DeathList (Shane MacGowan, Frank Field, Johnnie Irwin), personal favourites (Roland Griffiths, Franz Beckenbauer), forum favourites (David Graham, Paul Harrell) - there's also an astronaut and the unnatural hit with Ismail Haniyeh. Thankfully, the obit rules are lax, or another forum favourite, Josip Manolic, might not have scored. Maybe it does pay off to not just go for cancer people, but have a diverse selection of picks so that there's at least someone "making room" for new people.

What's the psychology of this..."this is the last thing I want to do... should I do it today or wait...".
-
It could be! I only found this source, and lots of mentions on social media - but the latter doesn't have to mean much.

Cheating In Mellow Pastttttttimes

82-year old Conkers (?) world champion accused of cheating with a steel conker: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2024/oct/14/cheating-alleged-after-mens-world-conker-champion-found-with-steel-chestnut His first win since he started competing in 1977 - I'd get a little desperate, too! -
So I hear that early voting in Georgia starts today. Meaning Jimmy's death should be expected any day now.

Well now Justus Frantz is copying Michael Tilson Thomas with a brain tumour and an aneurysm: https://www.t-online.de/unterhaltung/stars/id_100509656/justus-frantz-stardirigent-beendet-karriere-wegen-tumor-diagnose.html He'll be going on a final tour and isn't sure if he survives next year. But it's also not yet known what kind of tumour it is. And after all, Tilson Thomas is still alive.

Well, I am not sure if the pool goes on, but if so, would Bam Margera's drug clinic count? https://okmagazine.com/p/bam-margera-released-from-jail-check-into-rehab-dui-arrest/

Edit: Sadly, what I posted here was mostly not right.... Some internet date issues. The Zuma article, yes, it's last updated 2024, but actually, it refered to a 2021 hospitalization. And Ould Abdel Aziz - that hospitalisation happened in 2022. So, it's only pts for Michiko, Bolsonaro and Zia for me.

Yeah, looks like the reddit comment is completely off, not even recognizing the age difference.

British influencer dies falling from Europe's 2nd tallest bridge in Spain: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/young-britishman-dies-after-falling-from-bridge-20241014073433-nt.html https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13955161/british-influencer-dies-spain-bridge.html The bridge has become a magnet for attention-seeking "influencers". The internet suspects that the unnamed influencer is STORROR, 2 million followers on Instagram. Edit: STORROR is a crew, so one of several people.

The Happy Birthday Thread
gcreptile replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
German underground actor Udo Kier turns 80. Naturally, there are some documentaries about him out now. https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/118625-000-A/der-wunderbare-udo-kier/ He usually plays the bad weirdo roles, like Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, or Nazi leader on the moon in "Iron Sky". Seems still in good shape though apparently, the documentary above doesn't go too deep into personal stuff. -
Edit: Deleted. Birthday, not death day...
