Charlotte Perrelli came last place in her semifinal and Roger Pontare fell on the last hurdle in his semifinal. As for Owe, he will perform tonight at around 9 PM UK time. Appearently, he had pneumonia as recently as this Christmas, and is reported to need assistance with making it up to the stage for rehearsal. I fear that he will do one of the following things on stage: 1. Lose his balance and break his hips/legs. 2. Have a sudden cardiac arrest. 3. Forget the lyrics of his own song (senility). 4. ^All of the above

I think it's a really good selection. Congrats on your appointment, DI.

Kirk Douglas wrote the following blog entry on his now-defunct Myspace page in 2009. All of his entries are deleted since a few years back, but another blogger luckily saved the entire text here: http://love-survives-always.tumblr.com/post/28421223322/kirk-douglas-wrote-on-his-myspace-blog-this-has As you can see, he expresses sadness over people who died too young, including Natalie Wood. So he clearly had some amount of respect for her, no? So many people have died young throughout showbiz history, why mention her specifically? Even if he IS guilty, then perhaps the remorse haunts him every day more than we can imagine? “This has been a sad week. We don’t like to think about it, but we all know that someday we will die. But, when someone dies young it makes us think about the preciousness of life.” “Michael Jackson gave millions of people all over the world enjoyment. Yes, he had his problems. It’s sad to think of such a great talent extinguished when his light was burning so brightly.” “It makes me think of the people in my profession that have died too young: Steve McQueen, Natalie Wood, Marilyn Monroe. I know the pain of personal tragedy, my son Eric died at 46. When I visit his grave every week I see fresh flowers at the gravesite of Marilyn Monroe. While we mourn for the deaths of young people like Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, let us think about how precious life is and resolve to make it worthwhile.”

Sven Asmussen's death means one less rival for Olivia. Only 15 to go!

Thought I would mention another 101-worthy thing that happened this morning out on the street. An elderly beggar, around 50-70 maybe (could be younger if he's just aged badly), came up to me and asked for some money. I only give money every now and then, and I happened to have a few coins in my pocket. So I gave him 1 krona. Within seconds, he TOSSES the coin to the ground and mutters something about it being too little money. After the initial surprise at his ingratitude, I realized that I will continue go about my daily business like any other day in paradise while he will continue to struggle getting ends to meet. And he won't even realize that he's probably the main cause of his own problems.

Petitions are usually useless. When was the last time a petition actually led to the overturning of a decision? Besides, while I saw it as a nice place to read about others' opinions on movies I had just seen, I've never really participated in the boards. DeathList and a Swedish forum are the only two places I'm active in online. @Sir_Creep: I think that social media platforms lack the structure and organization that Internet forums usually have. So, Facebook/Twitter/whatever can't possibly replace that.

The IMDb staff can go eff themselves. IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic. Increasingly, IMDb customers have migrated to IMDb's social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments and communicate with IMDb's editors and one another. IMDb's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/imdb) and official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/imdb) have an audience of more than 10 million engaged fans. IMDb also maintains official accounts on Snapchat (https://www.snapchat.com/add/imdblive), Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/imdbofficial/), YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/imdb), and Tumblr (http://imdb.tumblr.com/). Because IMDb's message boards continue to be utilized by a small but passionate community of IMDb users, we announced our decision to disable our message boards on February 3, 2017 but will leave them open for two additional weeks so that users will have ample time to archive any message board content they'd like to keep for personal use. During this two-week transition period, which concludes on February 19, 2017, IMDb message board users can exchange contact information with any other board users they would like to remain in communication with (since once we shut down the IMDb message boards, users will no longer be able to send personal messages to one another). We regret any disappointment or frustration IMDb message board users may experience as a result of this decision. IMDb is passionately committed to providing innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and communicate with one another. We will continue to enhance our current offerings and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways while leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities. Probably the last chance I had of gettin down with the beautiful Judy Garland. I'd have had my way with those remains. Don't judge. SC Your admitting you are a necrophile? There is obviously a Judy Garland for everyone.... 1930s child star Judy - appeals to paedophiles 1940s sex bomb Judy - appeals to straight white males (me!) 1950s-1960s gay icon Judy - appeals to gays and lesbians 1970s-present dead Judy - appeals to Sir Creep.... She was already 14 when her solo career in films began, so paedophilia is not the right word to use here. The age of consent here in Sweden is in fact 15! Unless you're referring to the days when she toured with her sisters as Frances Gumm? Also, Judy was never known as a sex bomb to straight males in the 1940s. There may be those who found her attractive back then, yes, but she has never been universally mentioned in the same breath as Liz Taylor/Gene Tierney/Lana Turner/Ava Gardner, etc. Yes, thanks for ruining my little joke via pedantry, Predictor. :( Okay, I understand your point but I am not so sure about whether she was seen as a sex bomb or not. There are some glam/1940s-style pin ups of her if you Google around. Wasn't it more the case that Louis Meyer kept telling her that she wasn't pretty and that messing up her confidence? Arguably, she was more of a girl-next-door type, I suppose. BTW, random bit of trivia for you: comic book superheroine Mary Marvel (Captain Marvel's sister) was modelled on Judy Garland, because she was seen as Hollywood's nice girl at the time. Sorry, Davey. Hopefully, this won't affect the DeathList Forum Grand Champion for Life title you once bestowed me. And yes, Louis B. Mayer was quite ruthless towards Judy (and others employees). Funny thing is that her close friend Mickey Rooney had nothing but praise towards the studio mogul in interviews. Didn't he realize that Judy's death might indirectly stems from her MGM days? I don't know much about Marvel characters, but I can definitely see some resemblance between the two. Kind of cool to have a superhero created after yourself.

The Swedish contest Melodifestivalen will begin next Saturday. We're one of the few countries that take this Eurovision thing way too serious; there are 4 semi-final rounds of 7 entrants each. After that, there's this thing called "second chance", where the highest-placed losers from each semi-final compete for the remaining spots in the final. The whole damn thing takes over a month in total, from start to finish. For 2017, 3 previous Melodifestivalen winners are returning, of which 2 of them have gone on to win Eurovision as well: Roger Pontare (the guy with the Sami gimmick) represented Sweden in 1994 & 2000, Charlotte Perrelli (previously Nilsson) won ESC in 1999 and represented us in 2008 too & Loreen, who won crushed her ESC opponents as late as 2011 with the brilliant song Euphoria. However, what I'm most looking forward too is seeing 87-year old Owe Thörnqvist (b. 1929) perform as perhaps the oldest ever Melodifestivalen performer. Hopefully the old geezer won't have a heart attack on stage. Found this little tidbit about Owe: ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS-nmLkXwo4

Heef, what applies for rule #5 if both parents are celebrities with their own Wikipedia pages but they belong to different age groups? Do you score points from the older or younger parent?

If you can prove The Queen is trying to conceive i'll revise my view on her longevity. I'm hoping she can shapeshift into her lizard form and lay an egg or summat.

Britt Ekland was food poisoned back in August 2016, and her beloved dog Tequila died about a month later. However, it's highly unlikely that Britt will pass away anytime soon. It would be devastating if she did. I'm curious as to why Britt's death would be devastating. Are you two personal friends? Well he cant wank to a corpse can he................or can he? Hahah, of course not. I would never wank to a corpse, that would be disturbing and pathetic. In all seriousness, to answer your question, deadsox, Britt is one of the most famous Swedes post-Garbo/Ingrid Bergman era. She's right up there with people like Maud Adams, Ann-Margret and May Britt (Sammy Davis, Jr.'s ex). In addition, there are also a few Americans with partial Swedish ancestry like Tippi Hedren (50%, paternal lineage), Mamie Van Doren (75%) & Julie Newmar (maternal lineage, 25% I think)! I'd hate to see any of them go. I mean, you were around back in the 70s, so you should be able to 'get' why Britt would be a national treasure for us. We're very off-topic now but I blame that on the new Finn bladan. PERKELE.

Jawohl, mein führe... Oops, I mean, I thought you'd at least complain about the lack of German folks (or should I say Völker? the Austrians and the Swiss are missing as well), their only candidate on the list seems to be the Pope Emeritus and even he is a Vatican citizen (although at least he was affiliated with the Hitlerjugend). So many missed opportunities... (e.g. Kohl or Habermas etc.) @Gossip Gape: Attached the 50 Deathlist-People sorted by origin (percentage), here you can see what I meant before 42% from UK 40% from USA incl. 1 from Canada 8% from Africa (Tutu, Mugabe, Mubarak and van der Westhuizen) 4% from EU (Cardin, King Michael) 2% from South America (Perez) 2% from Asia (Akihito) 2% Rest (Pope from Vatikan) 82% are only from UK and USA. This is everything else than a worldwide cross-section. Or do the DL-comittee really believe that most of prominent figures exist only in UK and US? Only 4% from EU, this is embarassing, not only cause I am living in EU, but EU contains at least as many prominent people as the USA. Maybe DL-comittee are brexit-supporters, who knows, that would explain all. Ok, enough criticism. maybe they can try to improve this next year.... Note that there's a bit of an overlap when it comes to Olivia de Havilland. Think of her as an item that was assembled in Asia entirely out of English components, then swiftly exported for the usage of consumption-crazed Americans at its best shape. Of course, as time passed, the product got worn out to the extent that it eventually has ended up in a French antique shop where it's now being cherised by cultured Europeans for its historical value. So, we get the following four-in-one in Olivia: 1) Asia (place of birth) 2) UK (ethnicity) 3) USA (naturalized citizen) 4) EU (place of residence)

He was born in 1939 (exact DOB unclear) and Footrot is, at least if you go by the # of existing Wikipedia languages articles, only popular in the English-speaking world, Denmark and Sweden. In fact, even I had heard of it (Fähunden) and I'm not much of a comics person. Has he died? Are we ONLY supposed to suggest deadpool candidates in the "Ideas and Possibilities" thread? Seriously, Paul... I only asked. Ok, sorry Paul. Thought this was a post similar to the one you made in the Ingmar Bergman thread. Going back to topic, I listened to the full radio program and his wife doesn't seem to specify which type of dementia it is, but I reckon it's in the later-stages by now. His health, coupled with his relatively advanced age, means that he could be a decent pick for any of the various 2018 pools should he be lucky enough to survive the year.

The guy who created the New Zealandic comic Footrot Flats, Murray Ball, has dementia according to his wife. She revealed it about a year ago in a radio program. 27 January 2016: http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/afternoons/audio/201786997/murray-ball-pam-ball https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murray_Ball He was born in 1939 (exact DOB unclear) and Footrot is, at least if you go by the # of existing Wikipedia languages articles, only popular in the English-speaking world, Denmark and Sweden.
