Can't come soon enough for the black Hitler.

What a waster, what a fucking waster You pissed it all up the wall... Life imitating art.

sad to hear - one of my abiding memories of Indietracks 2013 was watching Camera Obscura after a biblical downpour forced them to move the gig from the main outdoor stage to the engine shed. Not a good year to camp!

November 4th - Iran hostage crisis anniversary.

It doesn't sound good for ol Jimmy Boy. The 2016 Nags longlist is starting to shorten dramatically.

The old adage of 'Be nice to people on your way up because you'll meet them on your way down' (literally it would seem, in this case)....

This week's Popbitch has a special Cilla section that makes for interesting reading... >> Blind hate << A rather fishy tale You may have wondered – what with all the glowing tributes to have poured in this week – how someone so loved by her celebrity peers could get so little telly work in her later years. One reason for it seems to be that someone high up at ITV blackballed each and every attempt Cilla made to get back on screen. Why? Because the exec in question started out as a runner. On Blind Date. One early task was to fetch Cilla some salmon sandwiches for her and some guests. The runner got the nicest smoked salmon sarnies they could find. But all they got for their efforts was a bollocking from Cilla in front of her guests as she only liked tinned salmon, not smoked. ------------------------------------Cilla had a collection of about 300champagne flutes – all of which shepilfered from various green roomswhenever she made TV appearances.------------------------------------ >> Brotherly love << ...but not for Cilla You may not have heard of the Patton Brothers, but they are the Chuckle Brothers' brothers – the other double act to emerge from that generation of the Chuckle family. Someone who's done a fair bit of work with the Patton Brothers says they're consummate pros: hard-working, mild-mannered, and couldn't be more pleased for their other brothers' success. They also refuse to tell tales or say anything snide about anyone they've ever worked with. Except for Cilla Black, that is - who they described simply as being "a cunt". ------------------------------------Cilla appeared in panto in 2008 backin Liverpool. She loved her old townso much that she had a condition inher contract that rehearsals wereto be held in London.------------------------------------ >> Bad altitude << Turning the air blue Cilla's in-flight attitude was the stuff of legend, and cabin crew all over the world have been sharing their memories of serving Cilla in first class. She would always demand to sit in seat 1A, and would never talk to a flight attendant, issuing her many orders solely through her PA. One flight attendant grew so tired of her behaviour that he leaned over to speak to her directly and uttered the immortal line: "I knew you couldn't sing, but I didn't know you couldn't fucking speak".

A lot of old twaddle usually gets written about celebrity deaths (Cilla Black... ), but with George it really does feel like the passing of an era - the genial spiv character actor who by all accounts was a thoroughly nice chap. Cheerio George. (why did I not put you in the DP?? You died up the bloody road from the Nags as well. Gah)
-
Cheerio PoS, at least you helped me cement my lead in the Nags DP.

I give you Ernest Saunders, the only person to have made a full recovery from Alzheimers - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Saunders He'll be 80 in October as well, so perhaps other things may catch up with him before Alzheimer's really does return...
-
A great shout - he's just entered my top 10 list for 2016! Massively obit-worthy.

An amusing joke doing the rounds: Angela Merkel arrives in Athens airport. "Nationality?" asks the immigration officer. "German," she replies. "Occupation?" "No, just here for a few days."
-
Indeed you do but you'd have 3 more hits by this stage of the year if you'd listened to my suggestions (Ritchie Benaud, Joan Kirner and Gery Leuliet), so there!
-
That Venezuelan chap must have gone to Cuba to stock up on toilet roll.
-
Well I mentioned him on the 'ideas and possibilities' thread the year prior. Then he appeared on the January 2014 list. I like to think that may have helped put his name out there.
-
He sounds pretty lucid and has some vim left in his voice. I doubt I'll be picking him next year...
-
Ahhh, I take the blame for getting him listed but I'll take the credit now he's hit

Big sloppy kiss for Loretta Lynch. And maybe more if she asks nicely.

Poor old Charlie - one of the few politicians I've ever had time for. If it is suicide, then it's all Clegg's fault for fucking his ultra-safe seat.
-
Same boat as Prince Phillip - too many people putting her in through age. She'll still be with us this time next year and probably a couple beyond.
-
Wow. Knew he was pretty unwell but didn't have him down as being on exit this side of summer. RIP Leonard.
-
I kept him in...after all he was my suggestion 18 months ago so would be rude not to
-
I gave you a 'like' for NOT posting a goddamn Bulgarian link like some people around here do with useless obits (see Dutch, Italian, Swedish). SC Well I like to see it!
-
Excellent spot - clearly obit-worthy.

98 today, how does she keep going? I think she will live well past her 100th Birthday, the woman is indestructible. Wiki reckon she's that old but her birthdate has been a subject of debate over the years. I also took the trouble to look at the filmography on Wikipedia, it's an awesome cornucopia of crud. I know there are other actors - Sonny Tufts for one - famous for ceaseless celluloid garbage but who, other than Gabor, has done quite so much of it? I don't get her career. Wikipedia says that she emigrated to the United States in 1941 and "became a sought-after actress". Yet, her first movie role was in 1952. So what did she do in those 11 years, and why did Conrad Hilton marry her in 1942? She got her first movie role at age 34! That's really late for a "star". But she can't be much younger because she won "Miss Hungary" at age 19. Ok, maybe a couple of years. I can make Wikipedia say that the moon is made of cheese if I want to, via a login...it's a useful site but take it with a pinch of salt.
