She's not even the only one to go into politics. Ilona Staller aka Cicciolina. -

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?

You're right, my error. An error I have now rectified. My apologies. Actually, in the 5 years 362 days (getting the number right for those who like precision) I appear to have been registered here, this is the first thread I ever created ETA: NB. I manfully avoided posting it with some sarky comment about the reason for its creation and even tagged it with a halfway witty comment (for me). What's not to like? -

ftfy It's not that it's on the forum, this is right and proper, it's that it overwhelms a generic thread about other programmes that might be of interest whilst there is a more appropriate thread that would allow those precious few of us uninterested in it to avoid trawling through it whilst looking for something else. -

Foolishly I keep looking in here to see if the gathered alumni have a recommendation. But no, I fall for it every time, yet more stuff about a 1960's kids programme that just won't die whilst the thread British Science Fiction Programmes sits dustily unused in the corner. -

Sets, or Venn Diagrams, or something. Bob Hawke Bob Dole Bob Barker - Bad year for being a Bob, that's a full set Robert Mugabe - No, not being caught out by that one Nobby Stiles - One letter off but gets caught circling too close to the drain (and Venn's into two other categories below anyway) Jimmy Greaves Gordon Banks - Making a sweep of the footballers and giving me the chance to quip "They think it's all over...It is now" Stirling Moss John McCririck Murray Walker Phil the Greek - Complete's anyone sport's related - nearly missed him, but he was in that daft horse and carriage Olympic 'event' that they say is a sport and I don't have the space to argue. Johnny Clegg - together with McCririck completing the John's. Vera Lynn Kirk Douglas Herman Wouk Olivia De Havilland - Cha-ching. Centenarian slot blocker clearout complete Leah Bracknell - One off, so doesn't fit and thus becomes the default Joker (Which I'm certain TQR thinks she has now become professionally) 17 Down.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?
En Passant replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I actually like that track. Come to think of it I like the previous two as well, easy jokes notwithstanding. Never seen that version before, just the one with the bald guy with the hat in a shopping centre and can't name another track by them. ETA: 'chain saw wielding midgets'???? da fuck? ToTP was worse than I thought, Pans People changed to Legs and Co was all they managed and both of them sexist beyond belief in today's terms ......We could have had that instead? I want a licence refund. -

I'm sensing a theme here, do you even have the sound on? -
I'm praying for him. Mostly because of his Macca shrug. Also because I'm not even remotely religious, and if it turns out there is an omnipotent deity my faux prostrations could backfire badly.

It's 'nit picking'.... Aw cmon, you threw it out there for exactly that didn't you? And I got caught swinging at it.

That should definitely be fixed. It might be a synonym, but it's subtly different, I don't think what Muttley of 'Dastardly and...' fame does could be as accurately described using giggle he definitely sn-iggers, no question. If swear filters can be fixed for Scunthorpe, they can be fixed for this you'd think.

It'll be The Warriors because it's amongst, if not top of Toast's favourites. Also any quote that can simply be pasted into google is going to have to be pretty obscure not to have several of the first few hits. ETA: I'm not sure I still don't prefer funerals guess.

Bowman was the bloke in 2001. He played ice hockey eh? Who knew? And that, right there is your Yankcentric problem Creepy , you've fallen into this trap before as have other Americans, game show hosts, reality tv 'stars'...almost all your sports, yes people in other parts of the world 'might' have heard of them, then again you might know a few Japanese sumo wrestlers.....doesn't mean they should be in this game, and the game is not a fraud because it doesn't have some bloke on a spaceship who once played ice hockey in it. The only one of those I ever heard of was Gretzky, so much so that I actually know his first name was Wayne, but that's it.

En Passant replied to Dr. Zorders's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It's one of those pub quiz questions that unless you know it, people often get wrong. What's the most hazardous civilian job? Don't know if that's still true but it has to be close. On a more fun but related note, I was in the pub with a friend one day yoinks ago and a local bigmouth who often went fishing on a lake was larging it about the poundage of fish he'd caught on his best day. Friend pipes up "I used to fish" so bigmouth immediately starts up with "well I bet you can't beat 44lbs in a day, what did you manage?"....friends answer - delivered deadpan "5 tons". That silenced matey for a while til he figured it out. Yeah, he was a trawlerman, from some Cornish Village that might or might not have been Padstow, I forget. -

At what point did they realise they were a smidge off course? Isle of Wight? Canaries? Cape Town? Jokes aside that looks hairy as hell. -

One for @Cat O'Falk in case you've not seen it yet. Now that's a crosswind landing. -
A copper and a nonce, he's only missing grass for the trifecta, a reasonable punt indeed

I want to cut the USA off the internet. Every place you go.... And all the TV... remaking anything decent because apparently your standard US citizen cannot even deal with a programme in English without it being changed for home consumption. (that's a dig at the producers, not the people on here who are clearly of a much higher standard). I am perfectly happy to watch those Scandi Noir thrillers as the original, complete with subtitles, and am not very fond of the 'English' remakes (yes Branagh, I'm looking at you). But remaking something already in English? Meh. Fire away.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. I believe the Fermi paradox is just that, a paradox. And to me the most obvious answer is 'there is nobody out there' because if there were, we'd know. You believe differently. But its all speculation since not one contact has proved verifiable, which at least is not off topic for the thread.
