Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
En Passant replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Agree. Totally. Rest? some, but not entirely. If you have enough money you cheat, and they do. Paying accountants to put your Deliveroo or Yodel or such money in Antigua is self defeating, fees far exceed the cash of course. Thus PAYE on min wage or even average wage pays proportionately far more than those at the top, particularly those prepared to bend or even break the rules. Amazon, Starbucks and so on paying about 25p in the uk on earnings of millions means somebody else (who can't escape paying....) is picking up the tab. But hey, that's just my view. -

What Are You Listening To Right Now?
En Passant replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
And, just to show there's nowt so queer as peoples music taste...also, this. The "no future" refrain of which is perhaps even more apposite to millennials than to those around at the time. -
Saint gone has he?

Seems your already used to the keyboard....it's a good start. -
Hm, does here. Flash issue maybe? tbf I have the sound off and I'm still not sure you aren't better off not being able to play it.

It's Charon. That's actually quite tame. No, +1 at least. Yup. Or 1 above would be unnecessary.

In probable order: saves toasty, cat or maybe even me doing it.....

Two steps down then. Fair enough.

Damn! I was going to like your previous post, then realized, I already had. Da fuq with this novichok stuff. There's an absolute heap of things I believe we are not being told.

Seems like yesterday I was driving round that stupid North Circ Gyratory system with 'Self Control' blasting out the drivers window annoying everyone. Some things make one aware of how short your own time is, Laura Branigan although not a superstar just hits that spot for me. Still a better track than Gloria to me. Ah well.

Technical details like this won't stop my ranting

Dalton - English, decent stories (I'll accept the less than perfect acting, don't care) Moore - Just the right amount of suave (camp even?) sadly let down by dreadful storylines (moonraker? Oh please) Brosnan - Despite being Irish, at least didn't actually sound it. Connery - Aided by the best scripts, the tightest direction and being the first. Not nearly as good as 'best bond ever' merchants would have it. Lazenby - crap Craig - All semblance of tongue in cheek lost. Wooden actor, up himself. Drab stories.
-
Cobblers. Far too Scottish. This truism should be challenged, it's received wisdom, and wrong. The stories were better that's all. 007 is supposed to be English, it's almost the entire point. Roger Moore had to endure utterly ludicrous plotlines. If anything the best bond was Timothy Dalton.

To be honest? I'd sooner have a link to "anal sex weekly, you know it makes sense up de bum" than the daily mail. YMMV. -

Yes it is. -
Little Boy was Uranium and a gun type device. Fat Man was Plutonium and an implosion device. tl:dr Gun type is far simpler, was never tested, it didn't need to be. But it only works with uranium not plutonium. For plutonium you need an implosion, which is technically far more difficult, thus they tested it at Trinity. Further, the difficulty with uranium is separating enough 235 from the 238 they had mile long buildings to do this and still only had enough for one bomb, so no testing. Once you have a reactor (fermi) plutonium isn't that hard to get, but creating a nuclear detonation is far trickier than U235. ETA: Fuck that now looks like I'm going for the Sir Creep spamming award.

No. but since this is probably too boring for most, go right ahead with the next one XD. (oh and schumi ski'd into something immovable...but somebody elses go) ETA: Little Boy (Hiroshima) had the larger (est) fatalities but was smaller 15kt. Fat Man (Nagasaki) 21kt, but fewer casualties. Presumably due to layout of population.
