Also gambling again despite previously saying it almost drove him to suicide. Such a tragic story, his. Oh I don't know, I read that article from your link. He's still got a commentating job with the BBC that presumably pays more than shelf stacking at lidl or digging up roads, it says his 'house' is mortgaged and his cars (note the plural) are leased, he stuck 'only 20 quid' into a FOBT it was nothing.... I'm not saying a gambling addiction isn't bad news, unfortunate? Maybe, but his work and financial situation has some way to fall compared to a lot of the rest of us before it exactly qualifies as 'tragic' in my view. You've got to be able to borrow a million quid to get a million in debt, try that at the local HSBC and let us know

I might be wrong but I think we've had "bad" (I use the term loosely all press is good) press before and it's blown over. My response is I've learnt about the achievements of hundreds, if not thousands, of people they've probably never heard of through this site in three years. It's a shame that recognition has only arrived after their death but hey-ho. Nobody actively wants the celebrities who they picked in pools to die, we're just using common sense and a bit of nouse to say "it looks as though they might die." If 20 out of 20 of my picks in the DDP survived and maintained good health I'd be delighted at their resilience, given the reason they'd even made it into the list was that being a slim chance. On another note, we've been online for over a (if not two) decade(s), so why are we suddenly news? Exactly, the Scum said 'off the back of the deaths of Prince and Bowie', hmmm I think we've been around quite a way before they kicked the bucket but why let facts get in the way of a story? I'd rather eat fleas out of my cat's ass than buy that utter cockwipe. At first glance this would appear to be a fairly original opinion. I am now given to understand that it is actually an appropriate alternative to 'good morning' in a certain northwestern city in our fair land. Personally, I agree with you and indeed them.

Newspapers eh? The interesting part for me was some of the commenters immediately having a bit of a go themselves.

Yes, or somebody had a severe attack of sarcasm syndrome. I suppose it could have been uncle fester from leicester or something or...... ach make your own up. I'd still sooner have him than Ronnie, at least he's not an arse (or obviously an arse anyway).

Hardly a massacre with one death, but not in a school. Not really sure where to put my anti NRA rants, ranting maybe, or here... Another stupid unnecessary death.

FTFY. Not that I have even the vaguest notion of who Sia is, but the rest of your comment refers to 'she' and 'her'.

Hm, this begs the question as to how you know they have only had them done since his death? I know fuck all about tattoos (don't like the things much), but don't you have a bandage over it for a few days afterwards? I'm not doubting the accuracy of what you say, but I'm a tad mystified since if they were done before his death the second part of your statement is inaccurate, and if after it wouldn't they be under a bandage and you couldn't see it anyway?

Politicians v Musicians. Interesting. I suppose it depends on what you are using as a tape measure. You could of course throw actors into the mix as well. If the yardstick is overall influence in a number of areas then all politicians and American presidents in particular probably trumps a few songs. If, on the other hand your measure is the sheer numbers of people aware of their existence (ie. their 'celebrity'), I'd imagine more people knew who Bowie and maybe even Prince were than almost any politician. Further, it might be argued that although their influence may be in one area only, they do have at least some influence on more people and over a greater length of time than politicians. Then there's the pope...or the Queen of England who are none of these things.....

Heh, better. Certainly beats the standard fare of "I knew this one best so it's the biggest by definition".

Nail, Head, HIt. "Feeling" that such and such will happen, deaths, holes-in-one, whatever is just so much bollocks. There's probabilities based on mathematics and that's it. All else is quackery to be placed with homeopathy and star signs and steadfastly ignored as the twaddle that it is. -
This from a country where it is possible to order grits and a root beer thus finding culinary uses for the stuff that sticks paving stones together and left over drain cleaning fluid. Oh and those 'cheese' singles things that are some sort of waste product from nuclear fission they're afraid still wouldn't be safe if vitrified and buried in Cheyenne Mountain.

I blame these damn predictive text programmers, hopeless when it comes to neurological diseases or vegetable dishes but for some reason beyond my ken, letter perfect on arterial blockages. I think they must have a copy of a medical dictionary with half the pages missing kicking about at spellcheck central but no cookery books at all.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

One is the daughter of the ex US secretary of defence defense, or it might have been a tennis doubles player, not sure. The other made lightbulbs. Edit to fix spelling, none of your nasty Brit spelling for an American politician here. -

Ruffs eh? The flares and platform shoes of their day. I wonder what the year was when they looked back at a painting of themselves and thought "No way....What on earth was I thinking?".

Time is a construct eh? To be fair, he's not aging now, so in that respect he's dead right.

What's this in reference to, if it's celebrity deaths the general consensus is you're wrong. Does anybody with power have access to traffic stats for yesterday and today to see how much a mention from the BBC increases our visitors. 210 users are online (in the past 15 minutes)21 members, 187 guests, 2 anonymous users (See full list) Not official stats, but easily available from forum front page.

I'm sick to bloody death of so called star Victoria Wood. No one here knows who cunt was. She isnt part of three of anything involving a mega star like Prince. SMH at pretending they are contemporaries. It's ok for you to post it and insult your own intelligence, don't insult mine. Note: no one has even posted Wood's obit in my DP cuz it would get flagged as irrelevant. Ok maybe not 'irrelevant' per se, but it bloody hasnt been and (seeing as I won't post it...) it won't be. And that with the knowledge I just posted the obit for the world's oldest dog. SC This is simply a product of the fact that you are US based, and this deathlist, er, isn't. Getting all hot under the collar about it is Canute like . I may not give a stuff about some gridiron or baseball player (or TV host or politician etc etc), but I don't go into paroxysms of rage about every one that you post. And with that knowledege from my point of view (and I suspect the majority this side of the pond) the death of the dog is a damn sight more edifying than some triple A no-hitter. -
Given the current crop of out of the blue deaths and the fact that being half an hour late is too late to get a decent pun in (yeah charon, I was too late as well on Prince), I'd like to be the first to say "we didn't see that one coming, and neither did he" on spec like, just in case.

20-29. Correct actually! But I won't be in that band anymore this time next year... Erm, you can click on the section and see who voted for it.....:S

It probably shouldn't, but that made me chuckle.

It's a spoof news website. And there was me thinking "WalesonCraic" was a legitmate alternative to auntie beeb for news from that region. Mind you I admit that even I started to question its bona fides when I saw the shop manager was Mr Jim Bellend.
