I dont give a fuck one way or the other. I am however fed up to the back teeth of people proselytizing their own view as being the 'right' one. I've thought about this carefully, and for quite a while. Fuck Off.

And, for the second time of pointing it out, that's your view not necessarily that of others. You are completely entitled to it. But, and it's a big but - for some reason you believe your view should be pre-eminent? How is that different from say Jehovah's Witnesses showing up at your door? Oh wait no, it's exactly the same. You are looking down on others because they do not believe as you do. Stop that please.

Then you should have made that clearer in the first place. And it's still the nature of this site so goes with the territory I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong, I took a few seconds of it and quit thankyou-very-much I'd rather not see this. But that was my choice. You had the same in the first place with the doc. Live and let live, as Sean points out, people see these things differently. You are imposing your values on others. Theres a whole thread devoted to complaints about this site by the way.

With respect - Yes, that is the nature of this site and dark humour goes with that to a degree. Also The person you quote is not the one who originally posted, if you are going to complain, do it to both. But mostly - the footage wasn't viewable directly and was flagged as being 'scary' from a documentary about a crisis - what were you expecting exactly? You didn't have to view it, you chose to.
  5. Well, yeah. But it's the same reason I'm not in it. Worse in fact, I even made a promise to @Clorox Bleachman to listen to a list of modern tracks that he spent some time and effort compiling and I've still not done it (as you know). Though I'm still intending to do so, I promised I would and I still feel terrible I haven't as yet. I don't know exactly why, but that's at least three of us now (me, @Toast and @Great Uncle Bulgaria) that feel that it's actually work we cba to do to listen to newer stuff and vote properly. Whether that says more about us than the music I don't know. You've mentioned before and many have agreed (including me) that you really should be voting for what you like, not just massaging the scores, that just defeats the object. (shrug).

    General Election 2024?

As discussed some pages above by me and @RoverAndOut it's not going to fulfil our dreams as of now - they don't appear to be committing to anything substantial just yet, as being that honest is electorally daft . We're just going to have to wait until after they're in to see what they actually do - I'm with you on this though, if they sit on the fence for a year never mind five, I'm going to be pissed off.

    Football

That's how to play. Well from an entertainment point of view anyway. CR7 looking disgruntled just the icing on the cake . Romania - Slovakia was also the one of the two that took place earlier to watch it seems. A draw was good enough for both of them, but they didn't play for one until maybe the last 5-10 minutes. Fair play. I really need to stfu about football, I still know 3/5ths fa about it comparative to afficionado's. But well, y'know, it's been interesting enough for a week now for me to spend 180 or 270 mins a day on it.
  10. Thanks for taking an hour to bloody watch it! I was genuinely afraid I couldn't convince anyone it was worth the expenditure of time and effort. So did I. Yes, and part of my problem has been I can't/couldn't see how you could get this message to the masses without killing your own chances at the next electoral opportunity. The fact that people will actually vote against their own best interests if they think 'any' part of a tax rise will affect them is crucial here (as msc pointed out). Wolf manages to have some optimism here, and its given me some hope where previously I had pretty much none. (Also to a degree why I put it here to see if anyone else felt the same - trying to get my pool team to watch an hours video about this on a phone in the pub on a Thursday night is very probably a non-starter) Anyway, step 1 is next Thursday and despite my reservations about wholesale change happening any time soon - or that Labour are going to be sufficiently bold - it'll be one step in the right direction. Thanks again for trusting me not to post junk and taking the time to watch.

You will have to be of a certain age for this I'm afraid, or a fan of old comedy shows.
  12. I thought the premise of this was to ensure landlords didn't all become Peter Rachmann's. And that if some properties simply couldn't be brought to C standard that was an acceptable cost for ensuring all those that could, were. However again, this is merely my assumption because as usual, nobody ever said so explicitly (for all the political reasons detailed above). It probably also isn't helped by the cost saving measure of not requiring qualified surveyors to carry out these appraisals and sending credulous folks on some 5-day training course to do them. (This is by no means meant to disparage folks trying to get a better job by doing such a course, but it simply appears not to be enough, even Which? decries the accuracy of these appraisals)
  13. Absolutely not one jot of a regret. This is precisely the raising of the level of debate I was looking for but didn't seriously expect. I felt what Wolf was saying made sense mostly, but never having studied politics sufficiently I had nothing else much to back it up. I still find it hard to find relatively honest appraisals of our political landscape out there, most sources have one reason or another to spin it, or balance it which sometimes amounts to the same thing. You've utterly overachieved on my expectations, I'm grateful and in awe.

  15. I shit you not, do you trust me not to sell you a turkey? (don't answer that). Yeah just listen is good. I can get genuinely get engaged when this is discussed in this fashion in a way I simply cannot in the 'pap for the masses that gets votes' diatribe. Thanks for at least considering it.
  16. Semi-seriously.... @RoverAndOut, @TQR, @msc, and any others sufficiently politically motivated, I'm curious and if you have the time to spare I'm interested about your opinions on the above, it's not just twaddle, trust me. I genuinely think he makes decent points and (as posted elsewhere) am damn fed up of the "we need the votes, pander to the masses, political 'newsspeak'" that goes on in those debates and everywhere else. The stuff about housing and inheritance tax and local taxation, amongst much else, is thought provoking (to me at least). Actually I just want to waste an hour of your lives pointlessly. Blow me.

Right, this better be the right thread.... Much as I've lately moaned about The Guardian. This gem is gleaned from a commenter BTL with his finger on the pulse.

Possibly. (and the facepalm is to me not you). How the hell I manage that on a quote eludes me. Duh.

Copied from a comment in my current target of disdain, The Guardians comment section...(The BTL football can be amusing though).

    General Election 2024?

My Apologies to @Brad252 - Missed that. Who was spending their time looking for, or knew to look? Or even had access to that information though? FT is a fortune to subscribe as well, I looked, since (see other posts) I'm a bit fed up of The Graun.

    Football

Since I know precisely zero more about football than I did 11 minutes ago.....I'll pontificate some more. One has to feel that we'll probably play better against a better side, you know one not playing 4-4-2 (Oh look at him with his formation knowledge!) for a draw with their lacklustre 57th placed team. Football eh? (mis-quoting some other oft repeated parable)

    General Election 2024?

This is too stupid for words. They are so corrupt they think an insider knowledge that nets them what? The price of a cheap meal out and a few beers is worth it or they won't get caught? Clown shoes. Wonder if anyone even remotely connected with any other party put a bet on? At least then they could claim it wasn't just those who knew the date beforehand.... No chance. That's my bet on it.

I know, and he looked old(ish) in one of my favourite tv programmes ever (you know the one msc) and that was forty years ago....
