Fuck off Creepy. Enough of the interweb is dominated by your lot. We've just had a week dominated by your elections where an utter cretin with no redeemable qualities whatsoever still got 70 million votes. There's a world outside the US borders, not that you lot think so*. I know who Ted Turner is thanks. Rude? Fire with fire. It's all some folks understand. *those that post as you do that is. There are plenty of perfectly pleasant Americans hereabouts.

You may be right. And when you take your place on the committee you can put them there. And having reached that exalted circle you can tell us what the hell they were thinking with some of their previous picks.....

Standard US/UK thing though isn't it? Somebody earlier was proposing that some American weather person was more famous than god. The problem I have with any of this is that generally speaking everywhere else is aware that some local (local as in national) personality is just that, known in their country and possibly wider, depending on circumstance. Americans (maybe not all, but certainly some), assume "the world" is just a sort of 51st somewhat out of touch state, that'll get updated eventually. Shoot me yanks, come on, I deserve it. For the record, and minus my rant, I had no idea who he was either.

Who is the best official James Bond?

Ahahahahahaha, callbacks to earlier gags are always the best to those who follow along. NIce of you to upgrade my decidedly low brow sarcasm to witty irony though, thanks. -

Fuck me. This argument has raged for years (and years and years), and in fact for um, years. No offence but, What we really need is a poll on DL about it. Oh wait, you did. How nice. -
En Passant thinks The Quim Reaper is also taking this opportunity to have a sly dig at comments in the 3rd person, having tried the direct approach earlier with what is now apparent is little success. En Passant agrees with this distaste but fears it will still be ignored despite being highlighted here.

Who will win the 2020 US Presidential Election?
En Passant replied to Windsor's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
One thing that doesn't surprise me very much is that the polls got it wrong again. Now, the only way I'm aware a poll is run is asking x number of people which way they intend to vote and if x is a large enough sample across a broad enough spectrum of the populace it's usually pretty accurate. However, if that then isn't borne out in the actual voting....one obvious conclusion (and the only one I can think of right now) is that there is a rather large group of people who voted for him, but were ashamed to admit it. Wonder why? -

I'm absolutely certain it doesn't sit well with me. 70 million people still voted for him after 4 years of lying, bullying, bloviating, sexist, racist, climate denying, covid denying, narcissistic bullshit. Some of them proudly. I can only ascribe it to the 1/3 that always vote Republican, plus....well, plus what? That's the bit that bothers me most if I'm honest. -
Ahahahahahahahahahaha. And indeed, hahahahahahaha. Good game sir! Might give this a go, since research is limited and that part is right up my alley. I'll mail one when I get my arse in gear.

Mark Steel in the Indy on the prospect of Biden getting over the line... "It’s a cause of celebration in the same way that if your dog won the “Best Breed” award at Crufts, when the only other entrant was a chicken. But even then, at one point during the counting, it looked as if the chicken would win." Bwhahahaha Oh and "The easiest way to explain this would be to describe Mr Trump’s supporters as idiots and racists. One poll suggested 91 per cent of Biden voters thought racial inequality was the most important issue, against only 8 per cent of Trump voters. And that 8 per cent probably thought it was important because there’s not enough of it." Always did like Mark Steel, was never on the tv as much as he deserved. https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/election-results-biden-trump-supreme-court-votes-count-b1616557.html?fbclid=IwAR0fKW3rDCEkgmOINYwxDSexGZ7Fkk169-OCbr9nYYaWQgfI2Uy5yr2sGV4 -
Oh I wasn't defending it. Just stating it. Now you see, that to me would be an interesting way of doing it. You failed last year on these names, so you can't repeat any of them this year. My beef, if you can even call it that really, more an observation on shooting fish in a barrel somewhat pointlessly, is with folks continually saying X Y or Z was a big miss with 100% hindsight after the event....

Off the top of my head.... Dead, after a fashion anyway.
-
Oh I know mate. But given that 25 names can't be repeated the following year and if you allow that people like Her Maj and Phil the Greek and a few others probably can't be left off now it doesn't leave much room for any flexibility. The committee just seem a bit of an easy target that are damned if they do and damned if they don't, whichever way they play it. You could database the lot and say that since Sean was left off last year having been on in 2018, logic would dictate that he should have gone on again. But it's not really very entertaining if all the names are determined that way is it? Well, I don't think so anyway. Hey ho.
-
Well, if he does go, there will be about 15 people queueing up to point out that it's another appalling miss by the committee
-
Congratulations Biblio.

From whence do you draw this conclusion? Bored of folks posting unsupportable, opinionated crap? yes. Offended? no. No, as has been patiently explained, it wasn't. Since I'm not offended and it's probably not a great leap on my part to suggest that Toast and PB aren't either, we are calm, but thanks for checking.
-
Every single time we get this avalanche of protests about a 'big miss' by the committee . To the best of my knowledge nobody has done consistently better with their shadow lists if that's the right nomenclature for where you do your own 50. And even if they had, it's one persons guesses v another (possibly set of) persons. It's a guessing game, you are comparing a bunch of guesses made by some folks with an eye to being interesting against the reality 'after the event'.

Hindsight eh?

An open, and now Shutt case. I'll get my coat, I was just leaving anyway.

I'm not googling him, not my preference, but I recall them well enough to suggest I bet he's got some wicked strides on.

Rached, Troll. Never a better example. Wikipedia would like an interview.
