This is probably about as much of a health update as we're ever going to get until he dies. At least it confirms he's still alive though.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009

Belated Happy Birthdays to Cowboy Ronnie and Welshman! -
Canada's oldest bishop, Albert Sanschagrin, has died. No obit yet though, just an update on the Catholic Hierarchy site. I thought maybe he was picked on the CPDP (perhaps by me...) but apparently not.

Then truly I have accomplished something of value (and only after almost 3750 posts!). In fact, I'm so satisfied, I may never post again just so as not to sully the memory of my deed (kind of like George Costanza's "leaving on a good note"). And if that happened, then I think most people around here would be convinced that you've accomplished something of value. That looks really sarcastic, but it's not. I enjoy the sharing of fun vocabulary words. Anyhow, I believe he's being sincere so the debate/my interest has waned. As for Farrah, after having missed out of Dai and Jade, I think I definitely must consider her for the next DDP. Depending on how her condition goes, of course, I think she should be considered for the DL as well.

Swedish runner Arne Andersson has died at the age of 91. He was picked last year on the DDP, but not this one; currently there are obits in Swedish and Spanish, but nothing in English yet.

No, asshat, you've once again gotten it wrong. This site isn't about people who we want or hope will die (well, of course, with some obvious exceptions of truly horrendous people). I don't think many deathlisters are hoping that Patrick Swayze will die, just acknowledging that overall the chances are very likely that he will. Think of it this way: you can accept and deal with the fact that a family member has a terminal illness and act accordingly, but that doesn't mean you actually want them to die. Then again, you think Palestinian and Israeli children getting blown to pieces is "great news", so you probably throw a party every time one of your relatives gets cancer. You're in a vocal minority of asshattery who actually wants the decent folk on this list to die. Don't drag the rest of us down with you; even though he is on my list, it is not at all to my chagrin that he is still alive. I try to ignore most of your scummy comments, but I refuse to be categorized within the same frame of mentality as you. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Would be very sad if true, but I don't see jack sh*t to support it yet...

Kou Iijima, formerly the world's 11th oldest person, currently generous enough to have moved Henry A. up to 13th oldest in the world. (There's a link that might be useful to any who speak Japanese).

New Here And Just Saying Hello - 2009

Welcome. Don't listen to anyone who gives you crap. That's shitty advice. Welcome Paul Bearer to the land where sh*t is censored but shitty is not! -

Saul Zaentz is 88, has certainly slowed down since 1996 and would definitely be famous enough to get an obit under many different criteria. I've had him on my list for a while, albeit low on it. Franco Zeffirelli was on my list a bit too - 86 and quite famous - but he seems to be fairly active these days. American Olympic athlete and WWII POW Louis Zamperini, currently aged 92, would get American obits, but not likely British ones. Zeke Zarchy, currently 93, would be a greater way to throw in a jazz player but he might struggle to get an obit even in the U.S. and he seems to be doing alright given his age. Émile Derlin Zinsou, former President of Benin, 91, would likely get an international obit, but I don't know about his health. Eva Zeisel, the 102-year-old Hungarian industrial designer has a fair, but not guaranteed, chance of swinging some good obits. Mexican historian Silvio Zavala just turned 100, but I doubt he'd pull many obits. Zheng Ji (Zheng is his family name) is a well-known Chinese biochemist and, at age 108, could go at any time. Not sure, again, about obit chances though. Those are the names that came to mind anyhow.

That's probably what it does mean... it could be a regional saying or something. For example, in certain parts of Spain, the equivalent of the English "you are the sh*t" is "eres la leche" literally "you are the milk".

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009

Happy belated birthday The Miser! I tried search for "sexy" and "Misers", but I still got this. Sorry. -
A pointless exercise Vaagheid, old threads like this are not closed or deleted, so you are wasting your time . I think he means that he wants the little exclamation mark in the triangle next to the thread name. Ah, I remember the days when I thought I was "cleaning up" the forum dredging up old threads.

Now now, don't be so harsh. Those children grow up to be the very DL ranters that amuse us so.

According to Wikipedia, "As of March 31, 2008, exactly 243,692 living hibakusha (atomic bombing victims)"... I can't imagine the level of bureaucracy it must have taken to provide that precise of a figure. Anyhow, taking a random yearly-mortality rate into account, that man's 1 in 200,000.

Death Anniversary Thread

I was trying to explain to a bunch of people the other day who Peter Lorre was. The best response I got was I explained to one person that he was "the guy who gives Rick the documents at the beginning of Casablanca". Wouldn't have been so depressing if they weren't all older than me. Okay, I've had my pretentious moment. Back to the "Ideas and Possibilities" and "CPDP" threads. Should have done his voice, then everyone would know who he was! I did... in fact the reason it all came up was because I did his voice and they all got a really confused look on their faces. I'm not bad at either; there's always been a few people who get any voice I do... -

Happy belated birthday GR! Since usually I'd post either something sexy or a reaper here, I thought I'd try something completely different this round: Hmmm... perhaps I'll stick with the routine next time. -
