    Deathlist 2011

I agree, particularly given that he's a British laureate and the fact that I've yet to see a Nobel Laureate not get a "proper" obit... (I think?) Anyhow, Wilson and Pinter have been removed as well.

Fixed. Site also updated to reflect the death W. Mark Felt. Congrats to 2 Farts and Splash, who extend their first place lead by five points! As for cleaning out my inbox, I've been reading some of those PMs... classics... haven't decided which one to toss just yet... CP you don't need to get rid of them, just go to 'archive messages' and send them in one email to yourself as an HTML page, don't pick the MS Excel datafile option though, as it will come out as gobbledygook . Hmmm... in the case, my PM box should be free in 10 minutes or so, thanks Lady G! Meanwhile, the CPDP has been updated for the deaths of Lansana Conte, E.C.T. Wilson, Harold Pinter and Eartha Kitt. Well done to all the teams involved; the Theme Team competition is shaping up to be a good one this season!

Afox on that! Cheeta is a fraud. And I signed the damn petition too... I've been taken for a fool.

That seems to have changed now. Conte is done. Oh, and OoO, you'd better believe he's already got his beeb obit.

    Deathlist 2011

A day late, but here it is. The following people and their illnesses/frailties are listed in full detail in the first post of this thread. To allow for ease of review by the DL committee, I have divided them into four categories and left only their names. More information can be found in the first post. Anyone's free to yell and scream at me to move people around, as it's all very subjective. Also, "questionable fame" does not mean that I think the person isn't "famous". Rather, it corresponds to whether or not I think the person will get a proper UK obit. For reference, one day short of a year from the last list: 19 (Amte, Christodoulos, Clarke, Diddley, Drnovsek, Felt, Getty, Griffiths, Helms, Heston, Hillary, Moore, Pollack, Pym, St. Laurent, Snow, Stubbs, Thompson and Widmark) of 36 from Famous Enough and Sick Enough are dead and all got suitable DDP/DL obits. 16 (Butz, Cordero, DeBakey, Delannoy, Hewer, Hill, Hinckley, Hofmann, Lamb, Mamo, Mileson, Page, Singh, Solzhenitsyn, Suharto, and Utzon) of 113 from Famous Enough but Risky are dead. I believe that all got suitable DDP/DL obits... Butz got one in the Guardian at least, can't remember if he got a BBC one or not... 10 (Dread, Healey, James, Manekshaw, Pausch, Phelps, Plews, Shum, Vadhana and Wittman) of 31 from Questionable Fame but Sick Enough are dead. Phelps and Wittman didn't get proper DDP obits. 9 (Bith, al-Sabah, Federici, Greenman, Hacker, Juran, McCann, Simplot and Whitney) of 32 from Questionable Fame and Risky are dead. I think that they all got obits, but most had to wait a bit. So with all that, here's my analysis for next year: Famous Enough and Sick Enough José Alencar Muhammad Ali Seve Ballesteros Melissa Bell Ronnie Biggs Paul Birch Basil D'Oliveira Michael Foot (maybe not sick enough, but who can risk missing out on the obvious tagline here???) Betty Ford Billy Graham Hugh Hopper Eunice Kennedy Ted Kennedy Peter MacBeth Edwin Morgan Robert Novak Patriarch Pavle Nancy Reagan Wendy Richard Bobby Robson Yitzhak Shamir Ariel Sharon Sargent Shriver Mike Soper Patrick Swayze Margaret Thatcher (maybe not as sick as most, but certainly wouldn't be a good one to miss) Tsien Hsue-shen Nicholas Winton Norman Wisdom Famous Enough but Risky Steven Adler Jon Anderson Patty Andrews Corazon Aquino Shoko Asahara HRH Jean Benoit Guillaume Robert Antoine Louis Marie Adolphe Marc d'Aviano Bob Barker Martin Bashir Captain Beefheart Jean-Paul Belmondo Harold John Blackham Ray Bradbury Ian Brady Ivor Broadis Elliott Carter Fidel Castro Frederick Chiluba Jacques Chirac Ronald Coase Natalie Cole Robbie Coltrane Liz Dawn Elizabeth Gladys Milvinia Dean Del Deanus John Demjanjuk Phyllis Diller Fats Domino Kirk Douglas Roy Douglas The Duke of Wellington Patricia Dunn Roger Ebert Blake Edwards Peter Falk Farrah Fawcett Eddie Fisher Andy Fordham Annette Funicello Zsa Zsa Gabor Terri Garr Paul Gascoigne Vo Nguyen Giap Vitaly Ginzburg Jade Goody Larry Hagman Abu Hamza al-Muhajir Václav Havel João Havelange Stephen Hawking Johannes Heesters Alex Higgins Lena Horne Ian Huntley Alan Igglesden Ronald Isley Sir Ludovic Kennedy Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Abdul Qadeer Khan Edgar Ray Killen B.B. Ideas And Possibilities For 2009

Chris Todd is looking better. Yes, I know I'm posting a lot and yes, I know, theoretically I could combine these into one mega post. But I barely posted at all over the last few months and all these posts are relevant to upcoming deadpools, so I think we'll all survive.

Merle Haggard will be at a concert in January. Quite the accomplishment, less than two months after lung cancer surgery... will be interesting to see if it happens...

    Deathlist 2011

Working on the update. Removed the deceased names, added Jade Goody, checking to see if anyone living is worth removing before I add more. Here are some updates: Yes is back on tour, replacing Jon Anderson (who was originally only supposed to be out six months) with, uh, a guy from a Yes cover band. Max Clifford has been cured of prostate cancer. Removed. Gene Colan has finally made it out to a couple of events, including this, but I won't remove him quite yet. While usually clamming up about cancer means that one's demise is near, but in Dom DeLuise's case, he ended up cancer-free. Looks pretty good in the video and I have no reason to doubt it, so removed. Looking at the New York Times archives from the past year or so, it appears that Kermit Driscoll has been out and about playing (March 2008 example), although I don't know what that means for his Lyme Disease... As of June 2008, Doug Fieger's cancer is supposedly in remission. Not enough to take him off the list just yet though... Maybe this was mentioned already, but Trisha Goodard is cancer-free now. Removed. Candye Kane has been doing better, although not list-removingly so. Abdul Qadeer Khan has gotten around to writing weekly columns. Bif Naked seems to be responding well to chemo. Robert Novak will probably be gone by the end of 2009. Not really a health update, but Abdullah Ocalan is filing a lawsuit. Willi Schludecker just can't stop bombing Britain. Eric Shanteau is now cancer-free and removed from the list. I have updated the list with the new suggestions to December 19. Tomorrow I will hopefully do a similar 4-way division like last year so that some debate can begin as we get down to the wire!

Wouldn't have noticed that one... I'll be sure to include him too. Thanks, DDT. October and the first half of November I had personal stuff to deal with (nothing death related though) and the second half of November and the first half of December were school work. For the next month, however, I have been banished to the frozen wastelands of North Dakota, where I will have ample time to post useless information and unfunny jokes. And do some of that updating stuff as well. Also, since I don't want to post on the DL Chat thread, while I'm on it, whatever happened to DL chat? I stopped by a few times, but no one's ever 'round there no more. EDIT: Site now updated. As always, let me know if there are any mistakes.

Hockey player Hank Goldup has died shortly after turning 90. I've been a bit delayed with finals, food poisoning and traveling, but now I have ample free time, so I should update the site for Johnson, Cordero and Goldup tonight (my tonight) and the "I&P: The Names 2009" thread tomorrow.

    Bill Clinton's Cat Socks

I'm all for Socks being on the DL, particularly with the precedent of Red Rum, but would there be a UK obit?

    From Cleric To Relic

Avery Cardinal Dulles is much duller now. Fairly well known if you happen to be an American Catholic whose really into the faith (or a well-researched deadpooler I suppose). Otherwise, not so much, but I feel like he was picked somewhere by someone, so I figured it warranted a mention.

    Bettie Page

90 odd. Which is just about above average for this time. A few front-runners have entered already, but most will enter with a week or less to go. I would normally have updated for von Bulow last Sunday, but I was in Finland last weekend & in London this weekend, and it has thrown things like DDP right out of the window in terms of doing stuff. Then this, and flipping Papadopolous, so.. if I am lucky - and very lucky - I will do it Sunday, but I have a feeling it will be Monday by the time I can sort it out. Besides, there's a little concern from me about the setup for 2009 (the 1st year I'm doing it from scratch) so I'm trying to focus on that right now. But it WILL get done, I can assure you. And now with Van Johnson gone, as Phantom has pointed out in the dead thread, that probably doesn't help things much, eh? Already one or two minor sources covering his death in the UK...

    The Dead Of 2008

I was straining to figure out what film I'd seen him in, so I could come and boast how culturally attuned I was. Then I realized that it was Mrs. Doubtfire. I recall it being amusing when I was a kid... not so much as an adult (legally speaking, anyhow).
