My CPDP one was "Wyman' n' Dyin'," which is only marginally better than the one I submitted to NAP for Boris Yeltsin.

And thus the trend continues. Wikipedia says Zawinul had cancer, but I haven't seen a report saying that. In any case, thankfully the person who was going to pick him for the CPDP decided not to, so I may not have to update the site today!

I was going to counter with a smartass response like "They were thinking that he'd stick with the name *insert real name*" Upon further inspection, however, "Levi Stubbles" wouldn't do much to make a case.

Shih Ming-Teh still well enough to address 50000 pro democracy campaigners, no mention of lung cancer either, but liver cancer by itself is bad enough. He's on my DDP team so I was rather cheered to read this: Sadly his wife, who rather selfishly did not take my DDP team in to consideration, talked him out of it. But I wouldn't have thought is cancer prognosis is terribly good if he's thinking of setting himself on fire. Nothing to lose and all that. "Asia's Mandela" will get loads of obits when he shuffles off. Sshhhhh! He's on STAB_in-the_DARK's ordinary team, which has already lost three of its members in less than two weeks. At this rate, they'll be the winner by Halloween.

Geez, that's the second one who's died a mere few days after I took them off the I&P Names thread. So I was thinking that I should take off Willis Lamb and Levi Stubbs next...

If you don't trust Wikipedia (a fair emotion) both of their illnesses can be confirmed by a google news search. Lets hope for a decent obit so I can get some points on CPDP. Actually, he's on your theme team, so that obit is good enough, and so is the IHT one.

He's at least as famous as Abbe Pierre, who got both BBC and Guardian obits. Sad too, because at that age it's very difficult to fight it. Baba Amte discharged from hospital, but he's not exactly well.

Achatz trying new type of treatment to save tastebuds. Experimental always sounds bad, but it sounds like he could be cured relatively quickly if they just cut out part of the tongue. So if his biggest worry is saving his tastebuds instead of stopping his cancer, then I wouldn't think it would be spreading fast enough to pose a danger to his life, at least not any time soon. List updated with additions and deletions. Instead of suggesting removals this round, I want to know who you guys think should be taken off the list, maybe trim it down a bit.

I refuse to actually visit the site, but somewhere on the page there must be some half naked guy, according to the preview, so you can play "where's the sexy Pavarotti on the page" once you're finished "celebrating."
