I saw that this morning. Took longer than I expected for someone to make that joke. Does the day it took for this to come represent a step forward or backward for DL?

Good call, I've just spent a hideous five minutes googling images of these two desperate cases. If one goes the other will, surely and their fave topic of interview conversation is their wish to die! DDP fodder for sure if they make 2008. Forget it MPFC, no chance of an obit. I agree with Godot. Legitimately famous Australians (Zemanek) and Kiwis (McGann) didn't get one, it would be fairly depressing if the twins got one. Even oldest man Scarrabelotti didn't get one.

I got it, too lazy to respond via gmail at the moment. Just another reminder that time is running out and, with many high-profile players not having submitted yet, it may just be a smaller pool - which will be interesting.

Dead Amy Winehouse

Garrett Hardin and his wife did it as members of the Hemlock Society. Favourite Hardin quote: "Freedom to breed is intolerable." -
Police report confirms attempted suicide.

He was certainly one of, if not the greatest advocate of it.

I'd got Barre for my theme team. But the two above is uncanny, does this psychic want to reveal him/herself? I like to respect the privacy of CPDP players, but this post may contain a cryptic clue.
-
You would be right, because I would say that Howard is famous for being famous, therefore violating the new rule that no picks may be under the age of 25 AND be famous for being famous. West would still be FbF, but is seaworthy for this vessel.

1) September 1, 2007 2) Last year I didn't have a rule on this, specifically to see how it would turn out. Only you did it, and only with one person, so I decided that since that was the way things went naturally, that will be the rule from now on. So one person in your theme team can be in your normal team as well.

Hans Reusch, Swiss racing driver, animal activist and DDP selection of our own aquatic deathlister has died, but no English, never mind UK, obit for him yet. As a side note, one player on the upcoming CPDP had picked both Barre and Reusch, making this their second premature hit for next years competition!

The results for the Theme Team Bonus Points are in and the votes were tied five ways. (Perhaps next year, more voters will be order) To solve the problem a secret, mystery judge that had not previously voted decided on three of the five. Therefore five bonus points go to: Captain's Log James Bond Stars Mad as Hatters Congratulations! In a coincidence that's happy for all, neither of these three teams have scored yet in the CPDP, so at least no one will go home empty-handed. In other news, I have decided on The Independent as the British companion to the New York Times and, beginning next year, both of these sources will be acceptable for Ordinary Team obituaries. Finally, don't forget to get those entries in if you plan to enter!

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2007

Happy birthday Captain Oates! I'm going to feel really stupid if you weren't the one with that avatar... -
He's at least as famous as Abbe Pierre, who got both BBC and Guardian obits. Sad too, because at that age it's very difficult to fight it.

Castro signs essay. Obviously proves nothing either way, but it is fairly strange that he praises a man who previously, as a vehement anti-communist (at least from my limited understanding) was never spoken of in Cuba. I kind of hope that he's dead, DDP points aside, just so that this thread will die with him.

Removed Barre and added Strahl. If there are no comments about the names from two posts up, I'll be removing them with my next update.
-
Mere days after I removed him from the names list, he is deceased.
-
I wonder if there's any significance to the phrasing used? "The tumour has been completely removed" rather than something like "the cancer is gone." Probably not, but interesting.

Banshee's Scream. You are on my ignore list, but this post is for you. I was at a bar tonight, scouting music talent, and one of the artists sang this line: You talk sh*t about people that you don't even know. They probably live right in New York. And I was all like, I talk sh*t about BS and HE lives in Albany, New York! It was powerful man, really powerful. I have newfound respect for you all of the sudden.

For the first time in my life, I'm actually excited to read one of your posts. My fifth RDP hit, I've never gotten that many hits in the RDP. I'm no Tempus Fugit. P.S. Lone Star beer is cheap with many alcohol percentages.

A man in India has had his 21st child. At age 90. With his eldest son's widow.

Well Ms. Winehouse is off to an early lead. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I just didn't see it.
-
I agree MPFC, sick. I couldn't give two shakes of a rat's ass what he does to himself - the earlier to the grave the better - but when you start risking other people's lives (and since I'm a cat fan, a kitten's), to jail with you.

Pete D, probably more wishful thinking than anything. He's the worst of them all in my opinion.

Happy birthday HCW! If I had normal internet access, I'd find you an amusing picture of some sort. Consider me owing you one.
