not sure how it's fitting for Hazlewood to sign out at the age of 78. Because when Hazlewood was growing up his best chance of hearing singers would have been on records, all of which - in those days - played at 78 rpm. That's definetely borderline Banshees there MPFC. Anyhow, no mention of his birthday in the news under the correct spelling of his name - one brief one under "Lee Hazelwood." Make of that what you will.

Wishful Thinking Death List
Canadian Paul replied to Monoclinic's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Only if it takes down all the "DL sux this year" threads with it. I imagine that the Dicky O' thread is a more controversial death wish than most other suggestions in this thread though. -
Hey, I just noticed something. Happy 78th birthday Lee! No birthday news stories yet though...
-
I said up to 3 months because a) I'm almost always wrong on DL polls and technically speaking, if she dies anytime between now and three months from now, I was still right in guessing that she had "up to three months" to live.

Power cut off at Vidal's home. The article makes mention of how he installed solar panels to power his house - doesn't sound like he plans on joining the dearly departed too soon...

Charles Lane because I had, I think, my third dream where died. 'course that may just mean he's got yet another year to live.

Updated to reflect the death of George Melly, the most notable effect being that f**k f**k Fuckety f**k f**k is now back in the ordinary team lead.

What a shame, he was doing so well last year I thought too (can't deny I looked into him for the DDP). Plenty of UK obits too, included a beeb.

Wishful Thinking Death List

I agree with Tom Cruise, but I'm not so sure that Bruce Willis takes himself too seriously. Maybe he used to, but some of his movies recentely have been basically making fun of the image he created of himself. Have to hold my judgment until I see Live Free or Die Hard though. -
Wishful Thinking Death List

I'll be the one to state the obvious - Paris Hilton and Hillary Duff. Maybe Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan too, though they may be somewhat redeemable. The world could do without Ann Coulter and Fred Phelps. Maybe Bill O'Reilly as well, though he too may have some redeeming factors. I'll let OoO go for the African Dictators and DDT for the criminals. -
The Weatherman Death Pool

I thnk you should be at 16 points - 7 for the hit, 1 for the unique, 3 for the all-team unique and 5 for the theme team. Maybe 15 if you don't get the individual unique pick on the same hit that you get all-team, but since that isn't stated, I think it should be 16. -
People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive
Canadian Paul replied to Catherine's topic in DeathList Forum
As noted, to announce the centenary of Emily Perry. A viable candidate for the DDP, WDP and perhaps even the HDP as she's likely to attract some press in the UK, given her most notable role - especially if the likes of Cole Kugel got his obit. -
Who forgot to sign in? OoO? No, bloody Canadian internet logged me out when I wasn't looking. Not doing much to quell the rumours of a barren wilderness out here...

Germany's oldest man and World War I veteran Rudolf Christmann has died, leaving Germany with two veterans in Germany (one of whom served for Austria-Hungary) and one in the United States.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Perry turned 100 the other day. Maybe this thread can be merged somewhere else, but I figured it might be the best place to mention it. By the way, that post was almost three years ago and, out of all of them, Eaton-Travis, Lane, Kent, Perry, Bartlam (at least according to IMDb), Allan (ditto), Rainer, Stuart, Laemmle, Page, and Ros are still alive. Claverling, Oldland, Baring, Boyd, and Grey were already dead at the time of the discussion too. -
I agree completely, and also note that he'll be a CPDP hit for you OoO, and several others, but only a DDP hit for myself. As we've noted before though, the act of choosing or not choosing him has no effect on his death, especially one like George Melly whom I believe would have laughed.

I feel that with all this animal welfare shite circulating, fish get a raw deal. I was watching a television programme called 'Trawlermen' (don't know if it local television or what) and it showed the fish being gutted whilst still alive. Nothing is said. sh*t happens. Imagine if someone skinned a rabbit alive? At least they get killed first. Also - lobsters. Thrown into a pan of boiling water. Some people do take a compasionate viewpoint with lobsters. Instead of throwing them into the boiling water, they shove them in the freezer for a couple of hours and then throw them into boiling water - alive. Even rod fishing is a bit brutal. I can remember the few days I was encouraged to go fishing on the pier/rockside. First, the poor fish gets a hook stuck in its mouth and is dragged out of the water by that hook. Were that not enough torture, I was always encouraged to 'stun' the fish by battering it off the head. I'd take the line and swing the fish to the wall/ground so that the impact would stun it. I don't think many were still alive when they were thrown back. Perhaps I could be the founding member of the RSPCF? I thought fish couldn't feel pain, as they didn't have the propoer neural receptors, which is why they continue to lash about even when caught on a fisherman's hook. I'm pulling this from memory (I'd be too lazy to check Wikipedia even if it were working for me at the moment), but I believe that's why the Animal Rights activists only oppose fishing and gutting et. al on principle of not killing animals rather than actively seeking to stop the practices. Bigger fish to fry, so to speak, if the fish don't feel the pain. I'm not sure about lobsters and octopi though.

There's a scary thought. Which male member actually checked up the facts and met BS in person?

Joe Walsh Hugh Laurie Grover Cleveland Martin Heidegger James Woods General William T. Sherman Saladin Domitian Septimius Severus and my great-Grandpa, who was a Ukrainian Cossack. Assuming that they can all magically speak English, of course. They all have something in common, but it's hard to explain... sort of a way of looking at life, or at least acting in it. Laurie might just be there for the entertainment though. I'm not much of a "get historical people together" type person though, I had to think for this one. I'd much rather get together all the people who have influenced my life personally. I can't even imagine what would happen to my life if they all could sit at the same table for dinner. I might even turn out halfway normal.

Apparently, the town was no longer big enough for the both of them - "We," the world's longest lived two-headed snake has died. I used to have a pen that looked like them actually.

The English Language

First of all, I was obviously kidding with what I said to CarolAnn. Not everyone needs things spelled out. Secondly, I'm pointing out that, above the utter and complete pointlessness of criticizing people for something like capitalization on an internet forum, that you, above nearly enough, have no right to be telling anyone how to post properly on a forum. Nor do I of course but, then again, I don't tell people how to post. -
Movie Stars - Two Trilogies?
Canadian Paul replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
When I saw this, I first thought of Lock Martin aka Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still. I suppose it depends on your definition of "leading actor." I always thought of a leading actor as someone major in a piece, not necessarily as the protagonist. Either way, Martin probably doesn't qualify... but I'm sure that the sky isn't 6'5". By the way OoO, Jimmy Stewart was only 6'3", but I agree, he seemed taller. -
Seen Any Good Films Lately?
Canadian Paul replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Probably. When I saw that movie for the first (and thusfar, only time) I didn't particularly enjoy it while I watching it. Then later, in bed, it hit me... whoa, what a movie. It's difficult to recreate over the internet, but suffice to say I'm not in any hurry to watch it again. long & boring. That pretty much sums it up... I can't comment too much on it, because the one time I watched it, I fast forwarded through all the slow parts. I will admit that it is an impressive visual experience, but I'm wary of any movie that I'd need LSD to enjoy. I'd feel safer in California with a Klan hood. -

yeah. you should really grow up. Maybe were too take up Banshees unique interpretation of grammer and spelling to. -
Can't think why. I looked at the link you posted and I still don't know who they are. Probably because I can't read German (or whatever that was). Probably doesn't help that the link is dead either. Here's an English obituary if anyone's interested. Scarrabelotti was Australia's oldest man, his obit is somewhere in the world's oldest thread.
