Don't have al-Bandar, but al-Tikriti is my joker, so let 'em hang. People have recently been comparing Abraham Lincoln to Saddam Hussein to protest his execution. It's true in the broadest sense that both were willing to kill their own countrymen for the sake of order. Lincoln, however, did not slaughter women and children and he certainly didn't drop them in industrial paper shredders or burn them alive in acid. I just got the strange feeling that someone would pop up to tell me what an 'ignant I am for thinking those two should hang.

Stop your whining. 400 teams times 20 candidates is 8000 names that have to be sorted, even if many of them are duplicates (they still have to be properly sorted). Pretending that, unlike you, the two gentlemen who run the DDP have lives, it's going to take quite some time to do all that coding, so keep your panties on. It'll be up sooner than you think, and this will all be a faint memory.

Pavarotti hospitalized in NYC. Perhaps pulling a Lou Rawls?

For those who are curious, here is my attempt to place better than last year: Tammy Faye Messner Lee Hazelwood Charlton Heston Estelle Getty Maurice Papon George Melly Levi Stubbs Ronnie Biggs Tony Hart Ariel Sharon Abdul Qadeer Khan Kiichi Miyazawa John Archibald Wheeler Harold Pinter Fidel Castro Luciano Pavarotti Willis Lamb Billy Graham Barzan al-Tikriti (Joker) Steven Hill Nothing much special. Hopefully better than joint 89th this year though.

I have to kiss ass a bit and agree with Cowboy Ronnie. Though I've expressed my disappointment at candidates like Ruby Muhammad and Tim Johnson for not meeting DL standards, I think RRP is one of the best choices on the list. He's ill, he's not elderly and if Laurel Hester got a mention in the British obits, then certainly Piper will. Sure, he might last another year or two, but as we can see from the thread so far, it's very lively and interesting, so what are we all complaining about?

Someone I've actually heard of has died, and it's only January 1. Ernie Koy, 97 year-old former baseball player. Also, mentioned in the ideas and possibilities thread last year, Teddy Kollek. If anyone paid attention, it may be the first DDP hit of the year...

There are probably few noble souls among us who didn't pick at least one of al-Bandar, al-Tikriti or Grove, but I heartily applaud those who did. I sold out on al-Tikriti and made him my joker. I still stand by that I knew who he was from my studies. I'll post my list in a day or two, not that I think anyone will want to steal any of my sh*t picks. I aim not to win, since I feel that'll be next to impossible without choosing all three of the above, but only to approve my position from last year.

But 675 hits is utterly pathetic, she shouldn't be on the list it's a bloody disgrace. DeathList is demeaning itself. I agree, it was a cheap shot, especially with Charlton Heston ripe for the picking. Tim Johnson is only 60... But it's not our DL, it's GRs. We heavily criticized last year's list, and it turned out to be the second best ever... so we should see how it goes.

Fame is somewhat relative. If you listen to a certain type of music, you'll probably know who Lee Hazelwood is. If not, you won't. If either as an observer or a participant you're involved in Nation of Islam, you may have heard of Ruby Muhammad. The difference is, are there more people out there who are involved with said crooner or Nation of Islam?
-
More importantly, why no Charlton Heston? Almost as likely to die, but 10 times more famous.

Get bored, imitate Saddam's hanging.

Who Has The Best Chances To Survive Dl 2007?

To complain complacently? Or perhaps to complacently complain? -
While I'm not so certain that he's ready to croak just yet, he's definitely not a z-list American Actor. A Streetcar Named Desire sticks out immediately, along with many others, but here's his full filmography.

13 and Tim Johnson, because if he doesn't go first, he'll probably not go at all.

Tough call between Lynn and Wallach. Chose Wallach, just to show some love. -
Last I heard, she was still swimming, but that may have been a year or two back. This thread has got dull as f*ck written all over it. Ruby isn't DL material, bloody disgrace selecting her. I hate to be one of those people sitting around complaining about the list on New Years, but I do agree with TF on this one. Famous for being Famous certainly. Old, but hale. And chances are the only times she'll be in the news will be a passing mention, her 110th birthday or her death.

Happy New Years eh!

Picked for pancreatic cancer or thinking he'll suicide over the recent federal investigation? If it's the former, he's very much cured. If it's the latter, I say to cheers to you if the prediction comes true. My list is not going to be nearly as strong, but hopefully fun. No Grove and no al-Bandar since I'd never heard of them if it weren't for all this. Who's your joker by the way? Grove I'm assuming?

Granted, he'd have an interesting thread, but did you check out the link I posted above? He's doing pretty well for his age.

Ideas & Possibilities - The Names
Canadian Paul replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
Reviving this thread for possibly one last time, are we going to keep this around for 2008? 2009? etc. If so, we should update it (Barbera, Bernhard, Drake, Ford, Hussein, Pinochet)... -
I was deciding between Meinhardt Raabe and Tom Poston to fill the last spot in my HDP and came across this audio interview. It's surrounded by a lot of crap, but it's a quick and to the point interview - he seems extremely healthy and ready to work. The best news I could find on Poston, meanwhile, was that he still has a willy.
-
Apparently mine or someone else's bitching has paid off, as points have been removed. That's what they get for being a bunch of cheating bastards. Now I'm off to add Barzan al-Tikriti and Awar al-Bandar to my DDP list and submit it. Different rules for different fools it would seem.

Henry Allingham still travelling the world. Well, England at least.

not really that funny was it? i feel like i just wasted 5 minutes of my life... I thought it was quite amusing, but then again, different strokes for different folks.
