Lord Of The Dancing On His Grave

From wiki: A sad day for Friedmen indeed.

Lord Of The Dancing On His Grave

You seem to be the bearer of bad good news today OoO! Next you'll be finding a report that Friedman's death was just a media error. EDIT: This statement is tentatively withdrawn until I see just how critical Ferenc Puskas is...

    Milton Friedman

Even better - it's also a hit for Deathlist's DDP team! I thought that this recent dearth of deaths was going to lead to a big one by the end of the week - though I suppose in a larger context, it's arguable whether one would call Friedman a "big one." No CPDP hits, but "Sunshine Stops Here" gets their first HDP hit.

    Most Obsessive Deathlisters

Congrats! And it's my year anniversary on Deathlist! What a glorious day for Canada!

*Sigh* Obiang, and now Hussain. I don't like this game anymore.

Poll - Number 10 - Who Will It Be?

Just in case some wise guy tries to mess with the poll, no one guessed Milton Friedman, which isn't surprising given that there were no reports of ill health.

Friedman dead according to media reports. EDIT: Alphonsin rightly beat me to it, but in my defense, it wasn't there when I posted this.

Lord Of The Dancing On His Grave

It's a strange article - says he's 49, but born in 1958... Still, one to watch for sure.

You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round...

    Gerald Ford

I have taken the liberty of removing the poll from this thread. I hope that's the sort of thing you wanted, Canadian Paul. Eh, it's a mod decision now, I'm fine with whatever. It can be merged with the Gerald Ford thread to make it look like I've started less threads if you'd really like.
  11. Can anyone explain this video for me. It's a fine piece of animation but I don't understand the significance of the tree. Why does the Kiwi nail it to the cliff? Am I to assume the Kiwi is knowingly plunging to its death like some kamikaze enjoying a brief moment of joy in flight? Is that it? But what about that tree? The trees make it look like he's flying above the treetops. That's what makes the (visual) difference between plunging and flying (at least for him I suppose). Plus, you know, emphasizing hard work for your goals and all that I guess.

    Saddam Hussein

Interesting - next year Sadaam turns 70, which will make him ineligble for the death penalty.

    Bill Clinton

Personally I hope Bush outlives Clinton though. At the least, I have much more respect for Bush than Clinton and I like his personality and character. I'll stay out of the "which President was better" debate. Death wise, I think you're right, not to worry for a while yet I'd think. But I certainly hope that his prediction comes true... Bush living to his 90s and Clinton to his 70s is not an unreasonable scenario.

    Bill Clinton

Clinton: "George Bush (Sr.) will speak at my funeral." A comedy routine of course, but one wonders... By the way, there are two Clinton threads that should be merged.

Apparently, the Texas Death Row system turns its inmates into blubbering emo girls with too much time on their hands - death row inmates have MySpace pages. I'm too lazy to link to the actual pages, but the ones I read were pretty standard - reform the laws, spread forgiveness etc. etc.
  17. I can't really explain this without giving away the ending but uh... watch an animated Kiwi uh... .
  18. In fact, one might conjecture that he's dead.

    Gerald Ford

Well, it turns out that, by a slight majority, DL overall was wrong (10-13 in case anyone messes with the poll). If I had to psychoanalyze, I'd say that perhaps we're a tad too cynical when it comes to people's illnesses and frailty (di Stefano is the example that comes to mind). Hopefully the results of this poll will help a bit in choosing next year's candidates - but quite frankly I think I'll be putting ol' Gerry Ford on my list for the first time next year. That is, while I'm still musing about whether or not to include Sadaam and Co. Anyhow, is there anyway to disable the poll to prevent it from being mucked around with, or should the thread just be locked?

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Bill Walsh has leukemia. When I saw this on CNN, I thought it said Joe Walsh and I freaked out. Anyhow, not famous enough for DDP probably, but it looks a tad serious, and I'd say an almost definite CNN obit - which means it's good for HDP. By the way, it seems strange to only tell "selected" members of the media. I'm sure the rest will find out soon enough...

Is anyone else surprised by this? I am. He really seemed like the tough-as-nails type, I thought he'd make it to 90 at least... and BS, I don't think we can fault him for not being on the DL list... I don't think he seemed like a likely possibility given the facts at hand.
