Still no sign of that BBC Michael Mayne online obit mpfc, starting to get worried yet? I've updated the site in any case. If the BBC (or, for that matter, CNN or a Canadian Paper) picks up the story online, points will be amended accordingly, ala Ross Davidson.

MPFC, maybe you are underestimating the man: "He is recognized as one of the most intelligent members of the hip hop community" That is from his Wikipedia entry, so it must be correct (says iain). To re-iterate a question posed by TLC on another thread, do you have me on ignore? (Scroll up a few posts...) We're all learning something about our little community today aren't we?

Not sure if this is health related, but interesting nonetheless - Obiang was seeking damages over the coup plot, but the UK courts just threw it out.

Maybe he'll find the will to live by becoming a living Pancreatic Cancer Spokesman. I'm guessing it wouldn't work, since he probably wouldn't want people to hear what he sounds like talking normally (as alluded to in an early post...)

I've had four secret candidates this year. Hiroo Onoda was one of them though, he was also the least likely to die and didn't have a strong place on my list anyhow, so I'm not too choked up about that one. I kept quiet with Mirza Hussain until the CPDP, but I didn't figure he'd be around for the 2007 DDP. I've got two that I'm hiding now, but it's not like the information isn't out there. On the flip side, I have shared some decent candidates (Fred Saberhagen, James Van Allen, Tsien Hsue-Shen etc.), so I don't feel too guilty. Besides, given my current standings in the DDP, I'm sure no one is racing to hear my opinion.

Ah yes, what a better reward coming home from a difficult midterm than to see a chance to update the site? DDT and Phantom, you'll still be in 1st place with TF no matter what - TF chose Mayne for his theme team. TF and OoO are right - TF has the points for his theme team already, MPFC needs an online BBC, CNN or Canadian. Seeing as how the BBC gave Ross one, and given the sheer size of the Telegraph version, I'd say there's a fair chance that your Mayne man will get one.

This Ras Kass fellow is fairly interesting, if you've got a few minutes. I must say, rap doesn't particularly thrill me, but I admit that I was amused at that clever little line.

I'm surprised not only that no one picked Jane Wyatt on the DDP, CPDP, WDP or the HDP, but also that no one has mentioned her demise as of yet. Still, putting her in near misses because I believe she was mentioned several times on this site. Funny, today I was just looking at her profile, deciding if she'd make a good candidate...

I used to work for the most hated campus newspaper. Basically it's point was make as many offensive, racist, sexist and obscene jokes as possible (dead babies, jokes on rape etc. etc.) In my young idealistic stage, I joined up for a year because I thought we were crusading for free speech and all of that. The jokes got old, I grew up and I quit. Now I don't particularly defend them, but I don't speak against them either. I think that just because one has a freedom of some type doesn't mean they have to use and abuse it at every chance they get. A freedom is there to protect what needs to be done, not to allow what can be done. People who complain about the relatively little censorship we get in the West should take a step back and realize that in many countries, censorship is so bad that you don't even get the chance to complain that it exists. My point is that TH has any and every right to post that picture on the forum, but that doesn't mean that he has to. I like the ladies of deathlist. They tolerate a lot of strange, morbid, weird and perverted crap from many members of the DL and yet keep coming back to entertain us and, at least in my case, accept and cheer us up when we're done. While I agree with TH in the sense that excluding a certain group of people from being mocked only serves to seperate them further from the "norm" (whatever the hell that is supposed to be, don't even get me started...), perhaps this isn't the proper forum to argue the case. I respect and admire the ladies of DL enough to be willing to give up my right to say whatever I want on this forum in order to make them a bit happier. I think the moderate thing to do would have been to say "Sorry CA, I didn't mean to offend you." and leave it at that while taking down the original offense. We can argue forever on what is appropriate and what is not, but hopefully we can all agree that we enjoy each other's company enough that we'd rather have a little honour and apologize for something that may have offended a respected member instead of going on the war path to defend our every action. We have freedoms, and sometimes we abuse them. The question is, what's more important, your full and unabriged freedoms or a little bit of respect from the highest caliber of people that I know?

Here's a more recent version, including a bit of encouraging history.

Somewhere in this thread I mentioned George Russell Weller, the 89 year old who crashed his car into a farmer's market and killed a whole bunch of people. Anyhow, he was found guilty but was too ill to attend the verdict reading. Doubtful that he's famous enough in the UK, but may be good for WDP if he makes it that long, or even H's pool or the HDP.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries Etc...2006
Canadian Paul replied to Tuber Mirum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Happy birthday H! H had a special request for birthday sexiness, and I'd hate to disappoint... enjoy! (Don't blame me, this is what she asked for...) -
That URL got me an unexpected yet interesting result: regards, Hein Been doing that all day. Fear not, for soon it will be back to providing lazy college students the wrong answers on general topics!

I think Mr. Hussain illustrates a good point about DL, namely that we're not betting on who we want to die, just who we think will die. Personally, I think there's some shady goings on with this whole trial thing and his conviction, but that doesn't change the fact that he's likely to be executed regardless. The justice side of me hopes that he'll live, the Deadpooling side of me realizes that the chances of that happening are slim. Execution date delayed until December 31st According to this report there is a chance he may be pardoned. This is turning into Art Buchwald all over again. [New topic consolidated from two threads -- MH]

Could whoever put an exclamation box next to Ross Davidson's thread kindly do the same here please? I'm a tad OC.

Errr... no I didn't... she has her four points... ermmm didn't she also pick Freddy Fender too? But only on her theme team. Thus she has 4 points on her ordinary team and 4 points under "Team Transplant"

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2006
Canadian Paul replied to honez's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
well, call me Mr. Curmudgeon, but I just don't see the entertainment value in this to anyone other than the guy's friends and family. So he's been to a lot of interesting places and done a silly dance at each of them. Whoop-de-doo. Now, if the last clip had been him in Southern Lebanon, dancing on and getting blown up by a land-mine, that would have been entertaining. CR - I don't think the point is to be a fest of hilarity. If one were a pedantic overthinker, I'm sure they could up with some deep and meaningful message that he's trying to convey to the world (despite that he consistently claims that he has no specific message). I just thought it was kind of cool that some guy quit his job and went around the world, dancing in famous and not-so-famous places. Maybe that's a product of the fact that I never get to travel anywhere, I just thought the point was to be interesting, not necessairily entertaining. -
According to Wrongipedia, he has lung cancer, but the source that it uses is The Globe. Therefore, an encyclopedia that anyone can edit quoting a newspaper that can say almost whatever it wants does not exactly inspire me to heights of concern for the fine actor that is Mr. Poston. Very iffy on the famous front. I chose him as a unique for the CPDP and, as discussed in that thread, even I admitted flat out that he was famous for being famous.

It does, but it was only announced on the BBC at 10.30 GMT today. I'm sure when out friend across the Atlantic wakes up, the scoreboard will be amended accordingly and four teams will be in joint first place. Two hits in four days, it took me nine months to get that far on the DDP! I have to say this is the most success I've had on any dead pool all year, I also score my first point on the WDP Drat, I've underestimated how much people in the UK give a damn about Ross Davidson... Teodoro Obiang Nguema better be damn prepared to cark it in the coming year. Anyhow, still a hit for me in the WDP and, more importantly for four of you, points in the CPDP. I'll do the full update and email once I get back from my afternoon class.

Ford back from hospital. Doesn't sound as sunny and optimistic as his usual "return from the hospital" articles sound...

Hopefully after a strong fight, she can put this whole shitty mess behind her.

Whilst I don't necessarily NOT believe you, Ross Davidson married Barbara Black last year (2005) - so Ross has not been married 10 yrs. If he has died, then I wouldn't expect instant news. However, it might be worth checking message boards & local news around Frinton, where RD lives, over the next few days. Well the Eastenders forum seems to be convinced.
