I'm sticking with my prediction of 19 for the year.

Ok then, it's either Jesus or Michael Hutchence

And Peter Saville Oh yeah....and Peter Saville! Inspired popbitch to do a whole death-related issue this week which is a very interesting read, although rather long to copy/paste here and only available by email I think. so cant link to it. Also it referes to some other deathlist site i've never heard of, but not this one.

I hate to be Banshees Scream (no I really really hate it) but we can never be totally sure of anything. As far as historical proof goes, however, you can be pretty sure that Jesus was a historical figure and that he was executed by the Romans. The rest of the story is up to debate. pretty sure that Jesus was a historical figure? - yes, in the sense that anyone who's name has ever made it into a book is and that he was executed by the Romans? - no, he was only on the Cross for 3 hours, whereas they usually left them there for 5 days to make sure they had died. Analysis of biblical passages has cast big doubt on whether enough wounds had been inflicted to ensure death. It is more than likely that he was taken down by Joseph of Arimathea in an injured condition, and then able to recover in the tomb, then make himself scarce. According to Halibut tradition he saw out his days in obscurity in the East. Although the big holes in his hands may have caused some comment. So I would say that apart from the fact that his name does appear in a couple of historical records, the rest of the story (including the death) is up to debate. I would vote it Greatest Perceived Death.

Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present

I would say Brooke Astor is the most significant person to die in 2007. Even though I'm not sure exactly who she is. -
Yeah... that was interesting reading that tabloid report the other day. From the Sun: Since her collapse the troubled star has told mum Janis she is convinced she is destined for an early grave. Last night a family friend said: “Amy has told her mum she is often suicidal and she knows she will die young." It would be useful if she could tie it down to a calendar year - 2008 for instance? Perhaps she could be on her own 2008 death list.

What are the odds on all three tenors dying on the same day? I think Carreras had some health problems before, although Domingo seems to be doing OK, although pretty chubby.

Big earthquake in Jakarta 15 minutes ago - perhaps he was caught up in it?

How about a thread for the parents, I mean that now they're being accused by the Portuguese police of killing her themselves and trying to wipe off the blood stains from the wall, the whole thing must be leading to high blood pressure, suicidal thoughts etc. Plus the father has been to the White House so he is now probably famous in his own right.

Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present

people I haven't heard of: 1975: Moe Howard 1979: Nelson A. Rockefeller (although I know the surname) 1987: Jackie Gleason 1992: Sam Walton (unless it's one of the K-Mart people or from the TV programme) 1996: Carl Sagan people I've heard of only in death list circles: 2007: Lady Bird Johnson people who are of the "I'm sure someone more famous than that died in that year" variety: 1983: Muddy Waters 1989: Lucille Ball 1991: Dr. Seuss 2003: Katherine Hepburn Then again my pick for 1962 would have been Stuart Sutcliffe, so each to his own. -
Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote "The Hokey Cokey" died peacefully at the age of 83. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started. copyright YouTube comments section

Shouldn't there be a Maddy MCann thread? I can't think of any other death that has taken up so many column inches this year. Presuming she's dead that is.

I think you need to make a few more changes. Including people the rest of us have heard of might be a good first step. -
He should be put back in jail for timewasting He is in jail, it's just that he's in Belmarsh which is basically a prison hospital He's hardly a danger to the public or going to reoffend. I've said it before and I'll say it again... it's a waste of tax payers money keeping him in prison And it's a waste of DL's time that he keeps pretending he's going to die and then doesn't

Best not to. Never mind, Nighty, some of us got it. . Brilliant clip! Almost as funny as the idea that Labybird Johnson was more famous than Boris Yeltsin. -

Yes, Mountbatten of Burma for 1979. As well as whatever he did in Burma, he was the person responsible for partitioning India in 1947, one of the major events of the 20th century. Plus a big influence on Prince Charles (not sure in what way). -

I expect he's moving on to the third one as we speak, having deflowered the first two yesterday. Which makes me wonder, once he's done all of them what does he do then? Go back to the beginning? Even though they're no longer virgins? -
As far as I am concerned <20 child pornography pics or vids for a p2p user does not even establish paedophilia on a balance of probabilities never mind beyond reasonable doubt. People get curious. People download job lots of files on p2p. Frankly most serious internet users have seen child pornography (including i'm sure everyone on this board) and only a very small minority are actually paedophiles. Many have downloaded by accident or on purpose videos of iraqis being beheaded. Does that make them murderers? To understand Langhams case we need context and details. What media outlet is providing that? None as far as I can see. Because most readers are just buffoons shouting "string 'im up and rip off his goolies".

I didn't realise the Daily Express still existed ... but they'd be top of my list of national newspapers which will soon die -
Yes, this Harvester chap seems to be protesting just a little bit too much. Mmm .. Regarding the Langham case, it seems that apart from a mentally unstable girl who he was trying to help (and has now invented some allegations 11 years on), and apart from the fact he accessed some porn websites which while distasteful (simulated rape) are hardly related to paedophilia, there doesn't seem much to link him to any of the sensationalist Daily Mail headlines that have ruined his career. Indeed they've already started clearing him of some charges. Will the Mail apologise? Of course not. I hate to say "I told you so" but ... Acquitted of all the main charges Guilty of what he admitted from the beginning, that he downloaded some freely available images / vids from the internet. He didn't pay any money for them, so the "fuelling demand" argument is nonsense. Or nonce-sense to quote Chris Morris. How soon we forget. Who's next for the paedo-witchhunt? Maybe we should set up a poll.

I downloaded all his stuff (over 30 albums) from Bit Torrent over a year ago. I might have to delete it due to running out of space on my hard drive. I twice booked tickets to see him live - both concerts were cancelled, first one due to him having a pacemaker fitted, second one due to bad ticket sales because people were pissed off he'd cancelled the first one. However the waddling pug-nosed rug-topped poof does come up with some good soundbites every now and then, so I'm in no particular hurry to see his demise.
