Even if we all pool together, 5K is still a bit dear, just to get that 6th hit. regards, Hein

Don't see any of then getting a UK obit Dead former presidents of European republics normally get an obit at the BBC news web site, so mr Rüütel had a fair chance. The others, I'm afraid, don't. regards, Hein

Hmmm, what other problems with the immune system could that mean, I wonder? He maybe won't throw a seven just yet, but I'll wager he'll jitterbug his way to the edge of heaven within the next ten years of an AIDS-related illness. I'd understood his problem was in fact an Acute Respiratory System Exception aggravated by extreme soreness. I thought it was Bony Undercarriage Metastatis. I read he suffered from Terminal Unspecific Spinal Hemorrhages. regards, Hein -
Since the upgrade I have accidentally clicked on the posters name rather than the 'last post' option on the main board...so if everybody is making the same error that could account for it. Then again, I may just be a retard. Be that as it may, I think you're on to something. As you may have noticed, when you hover your mouse pointer over the link to the writer of the last post in a topic, the new Forum Software (which still confuses me) opens her/his/its profile. If this counts as a view, view counts can go up PDQ. regards, Hein

That, and the joy of neutral reporting. regards, Hein

According to his Wikipedia entry he was born on 11 March 1932, so he's 79 now. regards, Hein

I remember being one. I did quite a few things then that I'm not proud of, but I don't remember being such a twat. There is of course the possibility that I was such a twat and didn't notice. My parents and their friends and relatives complained bitterly about teenagers' behaviour, pretty much as we do now. If I remember my Cato correctly, it's was no different in his times. I imagine our grunting ancestors invented speech specifically for reproaching youths. "Drunken Squirrel, stop fooling around with that stick before you poke someone's eye out." regards, Hein

I can imagine one loses the will to live in such circumstances. There must have been other ways, though. Bloody murder to name one. regards, Hein

Today in 1852 Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron and in a way the world's first computer programmer, died, aged 36. regards, Hein

US poet Ruth Stone, whose career flourished in her 80s and 90s, has died at the age of 96. Apparently she was world famous in the USA, but not quite a household name east of the Big Pond. regards, Hein

The posh ones do indeed offer coffee for sale, but there are quite a few that just sell da weed. I know one coffeeshop that only provides tea and chocolate for hot drinks. I've been told the owner doesn't like coffee. regards. Hein

There's no tea in tea cakes either There is space in space cake, though. regards, Hein

It just came to my attention that American biologist Lynn Margulis died last Tuesday aged 73. She also was the first wife of Carl Sagan. Her views in biology range from the now widely accepted to the outrageous, but she's been right too often to dismiss them lightly. regards, Hein

Doing some research for 2012 I learned that former Dutch racing driver Gijs van Lennep will turn 70 next year. I found the following picture, presumably recent: It shows that Jonkheer van Lennep still likes to do silly things. He looks fine, though. regards, Hein

I won't miss her. I tried to read one of her novels. Can't remember its title, it was shite; I got bored well before page 96. regards, Hein

I can't speak for DLCC (DeathList Central Committee, the people who decide the List), but as I chose Mrs Gabor as joker for my DDP team I appreciate the pain they'll have at the 2011 session. I'm considering to drop her entirely from my DDP 2012 team. Then again: every time she's brought to hospital (which happens often enough) may be the last. If she lives she may well buy the farm in 2012, which would be a horrible miss if she's not on the list. Decisions... regards, Hein

Seen Any Good Films Lately?

I went to see 19001, which isn't 100 years long, but it's length (317 minutes) makes it quite a feat to complete. For the spectator, that is. 1Not quite recently. Must've been 20 years ago. regards, Hein
