Cyril Smith, it has been foreseen.

    Room 101

That's why I included THAT particular link. Ah.. there's nothing like good dectective work to completely disbunk a load of horseshit. And this Orla seems to like swearing, shagging & certainly not hanging out in a flat with a bloke called David!

Although one is hardly surprised, you don't know your girlfriend that well, mate, do you? For her crowning moment of glory, the one thing you should remember off by heart... you've got totally wrong. Here, brethren, is the advert - What a load of shitbags. Lemsip is crapadoodle anyway. My point here is, she is not a driving instructor in the advert. She is taking her driving test. There is a difference you know. That is all I have to say on this matter.

    The Chequered Flag

Sir Stirling to you, my son. Yes, saw this this morning. I must admit, I had no idea she was ill. Probably, until Danica Patrick recently, the greatest female racing driver of them all. Also very sorry to hear of Peter Fenelon's death - Pete was a very valuable, intelligent & interesting chap who helped numerous times with my motor racing work sideline. He has died, suddenly aged 40. A terrible loss. RIP to both.

    The Twelfth 2008 Success Poll

Nobody got it right. We suck at predicting even more than Mark Lawrenson.

    Damn, won't anyone die?

Well, it worked, young Mr TAFKAG. Well done, you...

    The Ones That Got Away...

I beg to differ, in fact, you've eclipsed it - this is one I have found, but I think there are others... 5 in a row

Well, in the end, he had just one more day to go - dead at 67.

Lloyd Bridges is not 95, and he would make a rubbish candidate for next year. He died 10 years ago!!!

Eddie Thompson is already wheelchair bound, terminally ill & hasn't got much longer to go and things like this certainly don't help....

    The Dead Of 2008

One of the original Flake girls has died of cancer, aged 52. Marilyn Crossey’s moment of fame was back in 1985 with this advert.

    Crashing Companies

Er, thanks! Yeah, I got one the other day - still in the travel industry, but one that is a lot more secure as its products, business model & customers are all ones that, even in a recession, are pointing in the right direction for sales. But I am lucky, so many others won't be. Having peaked over the abyss, I pity those now about to fall in it...

    The Dead Of 2008

It was reported a few days ago on Wikipedia, but with its only link as a Dr Who fan site, I was recluctant to post it here until I had a credible source: Peter Copley, who appeared in numerous TV shows & films & was working until earlier this year, has died, aged 93. But it should be for his theatre that he ought to be remembered. A good friend of Sir Alec Guinness, a contemporary of Olivier, Copley was a brilliant stage actor, and that was far, far better than anything he did on TV. He was also 25th in my DDP 2008 list, but it was between him & Frith Banbury. As Banbury also died this year, no regrets.

    Greatest Ever Scotsman

I agree. I've met him, he was a twat. Because he was being such a twat, I pointed to my hand, then to him & mouthed "cheat". He was most taken aback! We Welshies will never forgive. Joe Jordan & Pele.. Death is too good for them after their crimes...

    Clive Dunn

Good Spot? Not really, Canadian Paul noticed it over a month ago & I updated DDP a few days later - check the sitcom thread. Of course, Wendy Richard is the latest to be hit by the Dad's Army curse. She'll probably be dead before Dunny. Hell, I'll be dead before Dunny!

    Widow(er) Shopping

Anne Crossman, widow of Richard, author & politician, has died. She was also influential in helping many of his papers get published after his death.

    Greatest Ever Scotsman

Isn't "Greatest Ever" and "Scotsman" a contradiction in terms? Can't think of a likeable Scotsman off my head. Salmond, Gordon Brown, Tommy Burns, Billy Connolly... Ah no, I take it all back - Stanley Baxter, who I always thought was excellent, is extremely healthy. Good for him. Who are the Scots primed for death, then HCW? BTW, Who was Rikki Fulton? Did he play for St. Mirren?

    Steve Fossett

I agree. Especially when there are no remains from a crash that, apparently "no-one would walk away from". One certainly thought there would be more at the crash site. As the report says, he landed "closer to civilisation than originally thought". Hmmmmmm...

Yep - still alive. FIFA did a profile on him and the last I was aware, he was doing pretty good for his age. Obit chances.. zero. Unless I accept all Cuban based media on the DDP next year instead of what there is now. Now that will make the US quota lower....!

    The Dead Of 2008

Jimmy Murray, one of the best footballers never to win a full England cap, has died, aged 72. Murray scored 155 goals in 273 games for Wolves when they were great (though they're doing okay now) - winning two league titles & one FA Cup. Yet despite being their top goalscorer, he was ignored by the England selectors, alas. Initially thought this was the same chap who played for Reading, Hearts & Scotland but not so!

    2009 DDP

I think Lord Football has hit onto something here (no, NOT the Southend United thing)... Although not a fan of Wikipedia, it might help distinguish the ill for being ill & the famous for something else. ie Tomlinson, Hester & Pausch.... allowed Jones, Hughes & Grove.. not allowed Good suggestion, but it would only be enforced in this case, rather than as a whole because there's some aspects of society where people are clearly famous enough yet still don't have a Wikipedia page - ie sport etc. The bulk of replies since the last post are still of the same ilk, keep the lot of them, but not the ill for being ill.

Present or past? That would rule out Stan Collymore for one....

    2009 DDP

Hi, just to say sorry to the DL regulars who had to put up with the DDP e-mail about the same subject - unless you like debating it twice! Much to my surprise, people have actually read the e-mails & I've got a good few replies to ponder - one has come up with not just one - but two - excellent sources for an obit which may cover a wider range, both UK & globally. I'll give it a while yet, perhaps another week or two but mood of thought is: Guardian - yeah it has its faults, but don't drop it. Executions - nope to return. Brit Bonus - nope. Ill for being Ill - Surprisingly, strongly against them being included. More than I thought. I might need to think about this one & see if there's a general guideline I can think of or if it's just hit & miss by each named pick. Honez... I think I would have a heart-attack working out the scores under that system. But it would be nice if a Laotian scored 1,000 points & a USA pick one point
