Ideas and possibilities for 2008
Octopus of Odstock replied to Magere Hein's topic in DeathList Forum
No. To all three. One, I don't know who Fargo is & I don't pick people I've never heard of. Besides I wouldn't trust Wikipedia as a sole source. Snow looks like he'll recover & Mugabe doesn't look like dying - naturally - any time soon. You pick your team, I'll pick mine, thank you very much. And that's Mr Odstock to you. -
dead Will Ill Kill Phil Hill?
Octopus of Odstock replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
Often, when an active person suddenly goes quiet, you start wondering if there's something wrong with them, especially when you know they're getting frailer. Well, it looks like Phil Hill might hang in a little longer, after my original fears. He's competiting in the Porto Historic GP. So well enough to fly to Portugal, well enough to drive racing cars, but strangely not that well enough to walk long distances unaided.... Having said all that, I've moved him down my list & moved a few other racing drivers up, for the time being at least. -

Yes, but not for 7 YEARS!! So, putting her on I & P possibilities for 2008 is a little premature, no? -

MPFC, the minimum age is 16 on the DDP, so definitely the first, and maybe the 2nd aren't applicable. For the sake of potential ranters, wouldn't it be better to just provide a link, rather than the full names next time? -

Iain, Iain, Iain. DDT posts a link about a Congolese singer called Tabu Ley Rochereau, with a handy link for those who care, to check details about this fellow. You have posted a link about a Nigerian (note different country) singer Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe . Now look at the two names and see if they match............. I'll help you. No, they don't. Sometimes, Iain, you make things very hard upon yourself regarding your standing here. -
Moderators Overstepping The Mark Again

and what's wrong with Benidorm????? Having lived & worked in both resorts, Benidorm & Praia de Luz, I know which one I prefer, and it isn't bloody, overpriced, over-rated & overly dull Portugal. I'm also stupified at the parent's conduct, as we'd never, as a holiday company, advise that, but I'm not so sufficiently outraged or concerned as long as she is found alive & well & we can go back to normality & proper news items like Russia supplying Burma with nuclear material is at the top of the news and this at the bottom. -
0. There is one fellow though, Dan Keating, who fought in a WWI era war, that being the one for Irish Independence. Keating was shooting at the English as long ago as 1919.

African Leaders - Despots and Democratic

However: Considering Gadaffi is suing the news agency that said he is in a coma, I presume that the exalted one is alive & well. Indeed, the report says that he looked well in a press conference today & "far from being in a coma" -
More Whinging by the Tomlinsons For someone "too ill", making another TV programme.... Hmmm.. publicity shy she ain't... By the way, I am innocent of allegations that I am one of the phone callers. I have much, much better things to do with my time then speak to her & her husband. *shudder*

Personally, yes, it's in very bad taste but MPFC's "joke" on the other thread was far worse & really not necessary. The thing is, Madelaine doesn't really fit into any categories of suitability for the DL, I guess, so it's not as if she can be a real "candidate" anyway... But if you are going to start a thread about her then spell the little poppet's name right!!!!!! It's McCann, not McGann. Let's hope & pray she'll be alright.

Dick Young died in 1989, MPFC.

Just been doing a little research re. footy deaths. After the death of Pat Terry removed yet another 60's hero, I noticed that Reading still had a pretty decent record when it came to post 1970 players dying. (4 in total). Thinking that over 37 years, that was pretty good, I looked at how many of the teams that have been in the football league (for an extensive period - ie not Cheltenham, Boston etc) since 1970 have lost players from that time? Results were a little surprising:- Colchester United have lost 13 players, Lincoln City and Stockport County 12 each, Blackpool 11. Conversely, the teams with the fewest deaths in that time are Exeter City, Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town and Liverpool with just 1 death each. (Main for Exeter, Saunders for Huddersfield, Roberts for Ipswich, Hughes for Liverpool, before you ask) So what does this all mean? Nothing, of course. But if you're thinking of a footballer to put down for an early death, think of maybe one of Colchester's FA Cup giantkillers (Bobby Cram, after all, got a number of obits recently) instead of perhaps Ray Kennedy....
-
Well, what a perfect day. Reading don't lose, finish 8th & now don't have to be in the UEFA Cup - the ideal result. Salisbury City PROMOTED TO THE CONFERENCE!!!!!. To be in the same league as Oxford United, is, quite frankly laughable, but happily taken. and of course, Neil Warnock & his bunch of dirty hackers are down!!
-
Firstly, King Malietoa II got a UK obit today. ... and the head of Taleban's military, the shady & downright nasty Mullah Dadullah has been killed in fighting.
-
Well, Kevin Doyle & Shane Long haven't done too badly (to put it mildly) for us, despite being from the League of Ireland, MPFC.... I seem to remember a certain Roy Keane doing rather a fine job all round too....
-
Armfield looked well in the interview later on in the day, treatment considering, so I'll abstain from putting him on any list for now, not least as his prognosis is good & it is a more "treatable" cancer. I wonder what MPFC has to say about Carlisle's two star players leaving - Hawley & Murphy (one probably to Preston, the other almost certainly to Gretna)??

I have no wish to predict a date for the unfortunate woman, but I would say that a death on the 13th of any month would be a fantastic boost for OoO's DDP team.
-
No, he wasn't & he never was. If you actually read the obit, instead of just posting the link Iain, you'll see no mention of him ever reaching that venerated position. He was, however, briefly, foreign minister many moons ago.

Huang Ju is NOT dead apparently, but like Al-Masri, there appears to be a lot of confusion if he is alive or not. That would be an unique hit for My Brain Hurts if he is dead.

We love you Exeter we do, we love you Exeter we do, we love you Exeter we do, OH EXETER WE LOVE YOU! At Oxford United & all their fans: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Forget about Leeds going down, this is ten times better! Meanwhile, convicted criminal & boss of Boston, Steve Evans seems set to be the new manager of Chester City. Wonder how Harry feels about that? At the moment, Evans current team, Boston may go bust. Good.

I am also surprised Dave/Iain has not posted the death of my great-uncle, at the age of 91, on May 2nd either. Standards are slipping at Dave Towers. Don't bother saying sorry for your loss etc people, I didn't really get on with him

That's why there was (and still is) the Ideas & Possibilites - the Names thread, CR. Most of the nobodies, and unlikely to die were removed and reasons put as to why the remaining 200 or so were good candidates. However it was seemingly utterly ignored & it seemed pointless to post the names all over again in the other thread and as the admin response was equally pretty underwhelming, it seems pointless to bother spending time & effort on it again/ Considering Poston, Laine, Papon, Magnusson, Inman, Yeltsin, Carlise Hart, Vonnegut, Eagleton, Forte, Bennett, Buchwald, Sheldon AND Del Toro were all on that list, I'd say it was a pretty useful resource, and FYI, Wallach was removed for being too damn healthy. So, you can't say we didn't make some suggestions.

Sensible answer first - As there's more Catholics in Brazil, then most other countries combined, it could well be a Brazilian. Stupid answer second - Charlton Heston.
