Law and Tostao too. The latter was more 1970s as Jairzinho but players like Cubillas, Gigi Riva, Rivera, Mazzola etc are still going.

I've been worried about Thatcher. I was struggling to remember the last Thatcher breaking news of a major celeb Glad to see back on form. As for Sir Bobby, a true legend. 4 World Cups, a World Cup winner and someone who transcended the sport. RIP

He's about as frail as a 3 year old pedigree racehorse. What bollocks.

On many a DDP shortlist, I imagine, but Kirsty Smitten has died. https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/kirsty-smitten-charity-match-memory-trailblazer-young-sheffield-woman-29-who-died-week-4363812

That's not what Perhaps is saying. Instead of clickbaiting, you could've just gone on the article, put the reason for death, then put the link underneath.

Ah, jolly beans, thanks YW. Still would like to know why Anna Cardwell isn't acceptable. If it's to do with the chickadee bit, then that can be taken from her name as she is called Anna (hence A) She's definitely famous enough (as it were) to pass DDP fame test.

Just a question, why is Anna Chickadee Cardwell banned? I didn't see anything about FFBI on this DP?

    The Chequered Flag

So, Basil is only the 4th Grand Prix driver to die this year. The other three got QO's pretty easily. For some unknown reason (as he was far from obscure), pretty much ignored by motorsport press. Pathetic. Anyway, I'm not sure what counts for various DPs so please find below. If it's proof he's dead only, it's all below. If it's like a DDP QO... I have to say it's unlikely. https://tributes.smh.com.au/obituaries/490399/basil-van-rooyen/?r=https://tributes.smh.com.au/obituaries/smh-au/ https://theauto.page/classic/basil-van-rooyen/?fbclid=IwAR22hdWdFrFZrbNUTdcv4I-ZURiuskLmf2_cPRWs7Ze6r2LOcz6WHmzHw98&amp https://www.picaluna.com/rsvpmaker/basil-van-rooyen/

I'm in my mid-40's and I agree with all of this. But I have heard of Adam Thomas. Other than that, ditto.

    The Chequered Flag

No worries, I'm surprised the South African and Australian Motorsport media have been so fricking slow and useless. The end has been nigh for a long while but it was still very sad news and he will be greatly missed. He effectively said goodbye to his wider group of friends last month. But ever the DL'r, I put him in the ABC Deadpool! Didn't think he would QO for DDP but who knows what may happen. @Ulitzer95, thank you. It was done late at night, that's my excuse. @TheSpinosaurus, Basil did his own Wiki updates, so there is an element of over exaggeration there, but he was a bloody good driver. He was that close to being Jackie Stewart's team mate at Tyrrell before a crash ended all that. And he did invent a LOT! A far cleverer, more positive, more inspiratonial man that I could ever aspire to be. Braver too, he was terminally ill for just shy of a decade.

Basil was a friend of mine for 15 years. He's dead. Ulitzer deleted the oldracingcars.com link I tried to link to. Not sure why because it's always been accepted as a source before. Not sure what else I'm supposed to say or prove.

I can see a couple of posts, x algorithm is terrible. Either way, there will be something shortly from racing media.

Basil van Rooyen has died. Its only on FB and X at the moment, but give it time. Picked in a few DP's. It was known for some while he was at the end stages of his long cancer fight, but it's still a great shame to learn of his passing.

    Rumours

Who doesn't love a scurrilous health rumour? Jean Todt, ex FIA and Ferrari head, perhaps best known to the wider world for his marriage to Michelle Yeoh. Looks thinner in recent photos, sold off his vast watch collection for millions, upset his best friend and no longer speaks to him, married Yeoh one year earlier than planned. Could it be that he married early as he won't make it to next year? Won't speak to his friend as he knows he's on his way out? Raising money for funds for treatment? Or a load of old claptrap? You decide....

Famous enough in his own right as well as the family link. Ex Celtic, ex Reading (decent player actually), ex Scotland U21 defender, played his uncle in the Damned United. Sorry to hear he's unwell, but it doesn't look good. Reading FC's most recent death (as it were) is currently Neale Cooper who played briefly in the early 1990's. Gray or the MND stricken Jason Bowen would change that to significantly much more recently.

Miles Jupp will only be Archie from Balamory in my eyes, having watched endless repeats as the three kids grew up. I can't quite adjust to him having a career thereafter!
