OoO's Baby Spectacular Extravaganza
Octopus of Odstock replied to Lard Bazaar's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Like it said on the DDP tin - at some stage I'll do a summary of entries so far. Just so you know - it's due on the 13th, but my birthday is on the 1st... I was a late baby, Mrs OoO early. There are no prizes of any sort to be won apart from the right to be smug. Apart from OoO & Mrs OoO who get joy & sleepless nights in equal measure.... -

OoO's Baby Spectacular Extravaganza

It won't be called Terry, that's for sure. If it's going to have a football name, which it isn't, it'll be called "Quinn Doyle Coppell" but thankfully the missus has decided against that. I'll play & go 7lbs 8 ozs & born on March 19th. I have no idea when or how much (apart from bloody expensive) it'll be. I am also going to guess it is a girl. I wonder, being the pedantic sod I am, whether OoO's baby guessing game should be a new thread & the DDP stay open for all DDP related "chat"..... -
Hi Ali, Thank you. PS All decided, but we don't know the sex of it yet... PPS You can do, but I have a feeling I might be at an advantage with guessing the name...

Cheers guys & gals. Millwall, best thing to do is either PM TMIB with your email & he can send you an entry form or email/PM me. I say this because the server was so stupid last year, I think emailed entry forms are going to work better, so it might be best to go down that route. Sometimes I think I've run the DDP for 20 years, not 2 but that's only because it's so time-consuming. Nonetheless, I shall miss running it, but I hope to be more competitive as a player in 2010.....

Well done Moosey & Deadsox - this - and Harmel - to be updated on Friday all being well, along with more bits & pieces....
-
I disagree - no known health problems & he's still making regular functions (He was at the House of Commons in the last few weeks). However he is devoted to his wife Edna, so the only reason he would be worth a punt is if she died... but it's not an exact science - Michael Foot & Lord Carrington go on whilst's Healy's old mate Callaghan went in days. There are far, far better candidates than him - I can see him going on a few years yet** ** He'll be dead tomorrow now....

Not sure about fame, or about survival prospects, but musician Squingy is gravely ill, with a terminall illness, it seems.... Looks young, so could be worth a few DDP points -

It looks like Eleanor Mondale has beaten her cancer.. at least for now. James Garner seems to be making an improvement after his stroke, but there doesn't seem to be much supporting evidence... Either way, both of them are of my DDP 2010 shortlist.... -
Nope, there will be a winner, and I don't agree with you....and it won't be controversial, it'll be the same rules that it's always been.... If the scores are equal at the top, then the team with the lowest average age wins. At the moment, Tonight Matthew looks in a good position hence with Mehsud's death. It's on the rules page - in black & white (or rather white & black!) By the way, some of you will get an update email, some of you won't because my stupid server only allows a certain amount of emails to be sent a day. So, some of you will get the reminder email for next year & the update tomorrow, but the update for Pavle, Woodward & O'Connor has been done. PS There will be a exciting new announcement before the 2010 game opens!

Rather embarassingly, so did I. I say embarrassingly as I used to work with them quite a fair bit (as I work in the travel industry) & always thought the same as you...

Excellent!! I was struggling punwise for the DDP, but that will do nicely...... PS TMIB, I think I have cracked the codes .....

A Little Research Poll About Who Are Popular Picks (and Who Are Not)
Octopus of Odstock replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
Googie Withers is likely to go on my DDP shortlist. Travolta won't die for some years yet. -
It's in the Deathlist 2010 thread- it's a sticky & there's not been a post since mine.I'd say the same if MPFC, Phantom, BC Alum or anyone else had posted the original post - why can't people use the search facility? As for a reliable English language obit? Well try the 115 - that's right 115 obits on Gogle News; here, or here or here or even here in the Sun!! Plus it is also on Yahoo news and all of these have had the story for some 12 hours. Oh before you "claim" you can't find it on DL - http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?...0&start=440 Goodnight all, that's all I can cope with for one night!
-
There's about 40 on Google News, including the one I linked to, on this very site, about 2 hours before your post. Maybe this is why the Deathlist is allegedly dying as no-one bothers to use the search function any more.....
-
Dead Another dead Chinese, mentioned also by MPFC in the past is Tsien Hsue-shen, dead aged 97. He was an unique pick on the DDP
-
Another reason why I sympthasise totally. I have (or rather had) one of the same members giving me the same hassle without them having any notion of how the website is put together...
-
CP, don't worry. I've always thought your posts are far more interesting than most here, certainly I actually bother to read them rather than ignore the latest offerings of so many. Don't worry about what Godot says, I don't think anyone does. It's a shame, because I like the release of the CPDP from running the DDP. But running the DDP is so hard, along with work, life & a motor racing website to run, and although yours is on a smaller scale, it's no less a feat to run it. You have my every sympathy, and quite frankly, I'm amazed you've kept it going so long. I concur & sympathise with everything in that post. Now I have to decide if I will enter any other DP other than the DDP next year, but that's for another argument. Thanks my friend, for all your hard work - trust me, it is appreciated. Have a good rest from August onwards.

Yes and yes. The Guardian pages are lifted off the US sites, so likewise, but if it's on the BBC, then it gets an obit. -

Death List Convention

RA, Just to confirm I won't be there. I have realised that the date is me & my partner's anniversary, so one suspects I will get in trouble if I forego the nice romantic Greek restaurant meal planned for her for a pissup with the likes of LFN & MPFC..... -
Well no wonder you've only got 6 hits. Malcolm Arnold died in 2006 & Stanley Beckford in 2007.....

Ecclestone's no longer with his wife. They separated last year, and are now undergoing divorce proceedings.

Hiya, Can I withdraw from this as I just don't have the time to do it justice properly.... as shown by my abysmal performance this year despite spending more econ than Manchester City?
