    No he's not.

Lew Chatterley is our oldest surviving caretaker or full time manager, born 1945. Took over after Branfoot resigned.

Former Irish international and player for Millwall, Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers and manager of Reading, Charlie Hurley, reportedly dead: https://safc.com/news/club-news/2024/april/safc-mourning-the-loss-of-charlie-hurley

Incredibly, dropped by The Final Whistle from their 2023 DDP team, so @Death Impends he adds to the long list of List of the Missed: https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2023/celebs_H.html#hurlec

    Incredibly popular manager for Reading.

Bought the troubled but brilliant Robin Friday, 'the best player you never saw'.

Quit at halftime in his last game, the first time that had happened (and can't have happened much since)

Very sorry to learn this. RIP

Bear in  mind they're in a playoff position (5th) but the two teams just outside the playoffs could overhaul them on Saturday. Barnsley and the two teams just outside (Oxford and Blackpool) all have games against teams with nothing to play for so the form book says Barnsley are in the playoffs, but still a daft time to ditch the manager, unless you've tapped up a better one and that person's in place by 12-30 Saturday

We could do with a few more points if the EFL decide to fuck us over yet again with a 9 point deduction. If we beat Blackpool and Cheltenham remain on 41, then we'll breathe easier.

  4. Bruce Bould was CJ's 'Super' man, surprised he died off radar.

Christopher Reich was the main one I'd heard of instantly.

Had a long theatre career, appeared in Bergerac, Pink Panther and lots of other stuff. Sorry to hear this.

Warwick Davis' wife, Sammy, who was also an actress herself, has died, aged just 53.

Rotherham part company with their manager two weeks after relegation to League one was confirmed

He was only appointed a few weeks ago clearly with his mission to be to keep Rotherham in the Championship and failed but I think no-one should have been surprised at the outcome. In an extremely competitive league Rotherham have looked like an outlier for the entire season. Though as it stands it is looking like the bottom three are all Yorkshire clubs. Well hopefully Leeds will keep the Championship flag flying for Yorkshire next season (when they will be joined by Sheffield United)

    Replaced by Stevenage's Steve Evans.

Yahoo shouldn’t be accepted at all anyway. If we’re gonna accept Hollywood Reporter, Variety, et al. copy jobs from Yahoo then we really should just accept those as QO sources and do away with Yahoo.

I don't think it's particularly fair to have, say, Variety as a standalone QO, because that's a website that covers a specific field of interest.

It's like including Autosport.com or Cricinfo etc.

Who (having failed to address the downward drift) has in turn been replaced by Bobby Wilkinson, who left Weymouth 2 weeks ago (see April 2 above)

Dowson was utterly clueless. Wilkinson a big step up. I'll definitely have to take part in next season's pool.

  9. A recent report on Eric Doughty confirms he is still very well, but also that he is Plymouth's 2nd oldest living player, behind someone (who for some reason) I had down as deceased - Neil Langman (WIki - Wiki More indepth guide) is still alive. So he's been added. Doughty posts

However, it's not all good news. Former Watford player Dennis Maskell died last month, https://www.watfordfc.com/news/tribute-dennis-maskell-1933-2024

EDIT - actually died 20th January

  11. Could've put this in the sailing thread, or the Hollywood Possibilities thread, amongst others, but ultimately he was a Grand Prix driver (briefly). Bruce Kessler has died at the age of 88. A long life, well lived.

    https://www.soundingsonline.com/news/adventurer-bruce-kessler-dies-at-88

As well as directing four Hollywood movies, he was one of the last people to see James Dean alive and his wife was actress Joan Freeman (who looks well in the last picture on the link)

And they thought Mike Thackwell and Stephen South dropped off the face of the earth when they packed it in....

Hmm...whatever did happen to Renzo Zorzi, though? All I've read is that he went off to test tyres for Pirelli, then nothing. There's been something approaching a flurry of interest in him recently. They discovered a new angle of the Pryce accident, available on YouTube if you dare and people wondered what he was up to (mainly having much trouble disconnecting his helmet's air tube, by the look of things). Got a mention in the Tremayne 'Lost Generation' book as well, beyond the obvious one. He won the F3 Monaco race after Tony Brise got into some 'car humping' difficulty with Alex Dias Ribero...

Ray Thackwell, racing driver himself, but possibly better known as the father of Mike Thackwell, has died. Also father-in-law to David Brabham.

Initially competed in speedway, before progressing to four wheels and Formula 2.
