I know its topical and everything, but with all due respect this hardly qualifies as a 'near miss' now does it ! That's probably why it's in the "not really famous thread.." although Santa / Father Christmas can be argued as very famous Although as it's not the real santa / father christmas that's involved, it should be moved to the "interesting ways to die" thread

Seems to me that he's likely to emerge next week after having a pacemaker fitted.

Iain, f**k off. Jimmy Cricket's wiki page was last amended on the 4th October 2006. In other words, you've made it up & posted it here as a "laugh", then blame it on Wikipedia. Not big, not clever, unless you're 6 years of age. and stop hiding as "guest". We all know it's you. I believe our resident idiot was referring to Wiki's recent deaths page; http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...;oldid=95912550 Jimmy Cricket's death was added by someone with a Minnesota IP, now whom here lives in Minnesota... I live in Minnesota, but it certainly wasn't me that amended Wikipedia

His career has been dead for quite a while.

I think I mentioned Bikel earlier in the year as I remember a couple of years ago I heard he was receiving treatment for something or other but when I tired to search for details online I couldn't find any reference of it. I had him on my list a couple of years ago, but he seemed to be doing fine so I dropped him. I'll probably see how he is over the next year and might re-add him in 2008

I'll see if I can find something a bit later on, it's pretty busy here at work at the moment. One thing I won't do is email from the website, last time I did that was to find out details on Robert Earl Jones and I found out later when I got a reply that I had emailed his son, Matthew. I was very apologetic about bothering them at a difficult time and he was very polite in his reply.

Ok, now, in reading and re-reading this the only reply I can come up with is that it's New Year's GMT before it's New Year's anywhere in the US - and the only thing happening around my house on December 26 is my son having shoulder surgery and I have no idea what that has to do with the Greenwich Meridian. There's no such thing as GMT anymore, it was renamed to UTC a few years back, although you still see pilot log books with the GMT listing I miss being in England on Dec 26th as then I'd have the day off work whereas now I have to drag myself out of bed on that day

Already mentioned last week when he died

Happy Birthday CarolAnn -
I voted for Kendall. Although saying that it would most likely be either Kee or Gall to go first
-
I don't have him on any lists either, so he'll be the one to go next year. I always seem to end up with one that dies that I omit from a list each year.

Sad to see Barbera go, but his death puts me on equal pegging with my father-in-law.
-
So far I've been 100% wrong, so what the heck. I've voted for Jane Wyman

Denis Payton Saxophonist, guitarist and harmonica player and founder member for 60s band The Dave Clark Five has died at the age of 63

He's a pioneering heart surgeon I know who they all are, though I wouldn't have if they hadn't been mentioned on DL. Hardly household names though are they. DeBakey's been mentioned a few times, in fact he's on my CPDP Upward I think has been mentioned once before. The others I don't think they've been mentioned at all

He's a pioneering heart surgeon 103 year old novelist

There's also this annonucement on the Mud website Dave Mount was born on March 3rd making him 59 when he passed away Apparently he topped himself. Shame. That is a shame, I used to love their hit Tiger Feet and would dance for ages listening to it over and over again, then again I was only 3 years old at the time and of course I was also a big fan of T-Rex too

I just have a couple of suggestions that I couldn't see mentioned in earlier posts George Beverly Shea - 97 (98 on Feb 1st) Religious singer often follows Billy Graham around Steven Adler - 41 (has suffered a stroke and also a heart attack in the past, still hasn't kicked drug habit)

No. Anyhow, more strain on the old man as he's caught in the middle of a debae about his final resting place. yeah...I read this too....hes blind and has Alzheimers...(?) ....isn't that a recipe for a long lingering death (bearing in mind he will have the best of care...unlike most of our relatives who suffer the same ? ) . The bloomin' funeral spots aint been built yet , so another reason to keep him going . I say a no-no for 2007 Does that article mean that there will be a "Praise-land" ?

Please please please pencil in Gloria Stuart to your list, Phantom. One more DDP hit for me means I should finish in the top 10. One more DDP hit for anyone 10 or less points behind me means mid-table obscurity. She's in as one of my back up picks at the moment, I'm in two minds as to whether to include her or not at the moment as she's still fairly active and doesn't seem to be in any ill health
-
Now why would you go ahead and tell everyone about that. Not too much to worry about I suppose. What he has, he'll likely either die before 2006 or plod along slowly for the next several years. UK obit virtually assured though, since his death would have a significant impact on the makeup of the Senate... You can hardly keep that one a secret, it's all over CNN at the moment

Balasingham's death is indeed vexing. While your team OoO is getting older candidates added, mine is going in the opposite direction and getting younger. This could prove to be a Grove error. my team candidates keep ending up dead

He owes me, and everyone else of my generation, a new Spectrum keyboard. And speaking of Leeds matches, I once stood behind James Lowes in the Revie Stand during a Champions League match against either AC Milan or Barcelona. Ah, them were t'days. Have I done my Frank Bruno and Anne Charleston almost hit-n-run stories yet? You used your keyboard to play Decathlon? I had one on the joystick packs that attached at the back of the Spectrum and used my old joysticks from the Atari -
I beat you to it, he's mentioned in the Dead Drummers thread [Posts moved from "Not Exactly Famous" -- MH]
