McDonald's - bad for your health ...

I've lived in the US for nearly two years now. I've not been to a single Burger King and I've only been to McD's once, but that was because the wife was craving a BigMac early in her pregnancy. I've avoided White Castle at all costs, especially when a place calls their most popular burger a "slider" -
If you have to say 'well known' they probably aren't. 'German TV personality' would suffice. Or are you saying that Jenny Tamburi wasn't well known? If so, it's not exactly a near miss for DeathList, is it? Im told she was well known in Germany, although I confess I have neever heard of her surely not!! not THE Annette Von Aretin ?? yeah, ok I'll admit it. I've never heard of her either

You could try Johannes Fischer. Johhanes Fischer Nearest I found. who is Johannes Fischer? Havent got a clue, but from what I understand you can mail him for info -he might have a link,(in German or Estonian). well anyway... I posted something on the FIDE discussion forum. so hopefully someone there might have heard something or could point me to a news article

Joe Royle? He's never been England manager. I think you're thinking of Joe Mercer, who I mentioned earlier. He was caretaker for a few games, played the flair players & he won most of the games they played in. Think he was caretaker between Ramsey & Revie if my memory serves me correctly. Oh yes, that's the one. I was trying to remember his name whilst on the phone to our tech department to get my wretched printer fixed

LS, There's a seperate thread for Don Knotts Valter Heuer - Estonian Chess Historian and author of the book "The Troubled Years of Paul Keres, the Great Silent One" has just died at the age of 77. I'm trying to find a link for him

Graham Taylor, too. Did miracles at Watford, but miracles were in very short supply when England boss. oh yes, Graham Taylor. I couldn't remember his name. According to records, even though he was manager for a very short while. Joe Royal (sP?) has the best record with regards to games played / won

I'm actually quite well, apart from a little bit of a cold that I had last week. However many of the people we discuss on this site are sick, so we try to predict who will be next

I've not had a look to see whose birthday it is today I just thought it a bit strange to have the birthday greetings in the near misses thread

That often seems the case with managers. They are outstanding when it comes to managing their league team, then they get made up to be England manager and they teams the select rarely serve up the goods. Keegan did excellent work with Fulham, but when it came to managing England he couldn't reflect the same quality.

Belated Birthday greetings OoO Not wanting to be a party pooper or anything, but shouldn't we really open a seperate thread for bithday greetings?

damn! I had him penciled in for my 2007 list

So what's up with Deborah Kerr? She's been suffering from Parkinson's for a good few years. If she lasts out the year, she'll be 85 in September -
Couldn't see it listed but did anyone see that Charlie Wayman former Newcastle United striker also died this week at the age of 84 ?

Yeah, all but one of the original members of The Temptations has been dead for some time now. As for Stubbs, he's lost his place as lead singer of The Four Tops, has had cancer for over a decade and is turning 70 this year. As for more recent/specific details, couldn't find any. Otis Williams appears to be the only original member left. I didn't realise they had gone through so many line-up changes.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

I think that goes better under "People I Was Surprised To Find Existed." Who is he? He was one of the co-presenters/hosts of a practical joke show called "Game for a Laugh" and then later "Beedle's About" I'm just surprised no-one's killed him yet. Although it's hardly a claim to fame as being "I'm the one who shot Jeremy Beedle" You'd either get a pat on the back or a blank look, followed by "Who?" -
I think he's still married to her. I saw TV Smith a few years ago at The Bread & Roses in Clapham. He looked like something the cat dragged in and then dragged back out again to save face.
-
But, to give him credit, he was still pretty classy at Southampton. Hackenslash, he most likely was. A little before my time though. I offer him or his family no disrespect. Any player to be called up to play for the national squad has made the grade. Even if they're called up 4 times like Osgood
-
I thought it was "Osgood is good". Surely Chelsea fans would have cheered him. Anyway, the saying is now changed to "Osgood was good". Possibly at the start of his stay at Chelsea is was "Osgood is good" but towards the end when my dad went to see him play a couple of times, it became "Osgood is no good"
-
It's been a long time since the chant of "Osgood is no good" drifted across the terraces at Stamford Bridge
