I agree.Tony Benn was a giant intellect.I am talking about a figure the arch socialists see as a hero. -

I too think the lib dems will get a dozen or two more seats.Mainly from Labour moderates and staunch remain voting Labour voters. You are right that Theresa May will win whatever happens. If she does lose the election do you think she would keep her seat or resign as an MP?She has one of the safest seats in the country so will almost certainly keep her seat. Likewise it is a win win win for Corbyn. 1)He pulls off a stunning victory.Even if he has a majority of 1.Will go down in history as the biggest political upset in British history.Plus it means he can implement mandatory re-selection next time round and kick out the Blairites. 2)He loses by a slim margin and those MP`s that go are in marginals and most didn`t like him that much anyway.Stays on defiantly and pushes through mandatory re-selection to make the party molded in his image. 3)He loses by a humiliating landslide. He says he will resign but hold a leadership after the party conference in order to secure his successor is someone on the left of the party. Then he goes back to the back benches and molds his image as a non-conformist elder statesman of the Labour party like Tony Benn did. -
But issue is Labour are split on all those issues.Particularly Brexit.I think europhile labour supporters will migrate to lib dems in large numbers.I know loads of labour voters who dont think Corbyn is up for the job.If his own parties supporters have serious doubts I cant see him winning.A lot of Greens I know are not going to defect to labour which will be a problem as green party supporters tend to be socialist in nature.

Labour are in huge shit.I cant see them doing well in Scotland and can see them losing dozens of seats in England and Wales. They will lose so many votes to Tories amongst leave voters and lose a lot of remain votes to the libdems. This split on both sides will cost Labour dearly. -
Does anyone think Corbyn has any chance of victory and becoming PM?
-
Even if he loses his seat he will still be a good dead pool candidate.41 years in the commons and on home affairs select committee.
-
My initial guesses are: Chuka Umunna Chris Bryant Ed Milliband Nick Clegg Clive Lewis Anna Soubry David Winnick
-
Lib dem or Tory victory?
-
Would definitely participate.
-
I would oversee it but am too busy with uni work family commitments job hunting and running about 8 pools already.Someone else should definitely go for it though.I would certainly enter a team.

Someone could do a similar game but with MP`s standing in the general election and predicting how many will lose seats.Points could be based on size of majorities.

http://www.loughboroughecho.net/news/local-news/mp-ken-clarke-still-decide-12910360 :Ken Clarke has apparently been in ill health for several weeks and is yet to decide whether or not to contest his seat at the election.Previously said he would retire in 2020.

According to twitter it is a mild case of pneumonia but he is out of danger.
-
You might have a point.Last time he was in hospital it was initially reported as routine then it was announced it was in fact more serious.

I probably have it in messages and not on this thread. Will check the masterlist later.Apologies.

I wouldnt give Campbell Sallis and Philips a 90% probability.Campbell has advanced dementia but he could go on for years potentially although that is unlikely.Sallis is very old but aside from macular degeneration we have no idea how is health is.He was always private so could just be enjoying a quiet retirement. Also being elderly with sight problems means he is unlikely to go out in public and be snapped by the press. My guess is that he is in Denville hall or Brinsworth house as he is extremely elderly widowed and has lost at least a substantial amount of sight.I am surprised he is still going but he isnt a dead cert by any means.Phillips likewise is very old but is known to be very frail after a stroke.Sure his quality of life iscompromised but he is not a dead cert.Bracknell Christie and Downie all have extremely lethal forms of cancer whereas King Michael has two types of cancer that have left him very frail according to reports.Treatment complications or the cancer itself could very well kill him as could the fact he is well in his 90s.
