    4. Dennis Skinner

What a lot of the modern Labour types never understood was that the sovereignty argument had more significance than many centrists would ever admit.Skinner along with Benn Corbyn and many others wanted to fundamentally change the economic policy of this country and the EU was a barrier to radical change which is what Skinner represented. He rebelled against the established order so it is completely logical he was anti EU.

    Norman Lear

Decent inclusion for 2023 on age and fame grounds alone .The man is basically the godfather of American sitcoms and has so many connections professionally and personally.

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

There are faults with this list for sure but statistically I think you are being slightly pessimistic.

    Dick Cheney

No idea but my father has had 5 heart attacks and is nowhere near a heart replacement.I think Cheney had a similar amount although his were more severe.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Watching my mother slip a disc and dislocate her shoulder the other week was still funnier than that gormless prick Mallett.

I bet you £10 to your chosen charity that there are at least 14 hits this year?

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

I would sat that is overly pessimistic and harsh. Sakamoto and Rollins are very much circling the drain by all accounts as are Starmer_Smith and Woodward.Plus statistically on age grounds alone one would expect a greater number.

Have you got a liguature around his neck?

    13. Noam Chomsky

I close friend of mine is a professional contact of Chomsky's . He agrees with my assessment that he is in decline and has even said he thinks he should retire for the sake of his legacy as is no longer at his best at all.He has also told me that he is responding less to correspondence and when he does there is an uncharacteristic lack of intellectual engagement and criticality than you would have expected 3 years ago.

    Dick Cheney

40 percent of heart transplant recipients are still alive 15 years later and 26 percent are alive after 20 years. At ten years ( Dick is nearly at 11) the figure is 53 percent. Plus he is still active as far as we know and has the highest standard of medical care which probably enhances those odds.

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

Not famous enough plus may well see 2024 and maybe even 2025 at a push.

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

I find it inconeivable that anyone on the committee argued that the odds of Whale lasting another 12 months were anything but very slim or than Dick Van Dyke was the strongest candidate for the top spot.

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

Berlusconi is worth the risk especially considering 11 names had to be dropped. The old bastard seems to be doing much better.Attenborough on the other hand is slightly reckless given he is 97 this year , is uber famous and has a coronary history.

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

Mediocre list. Some great new additions but some mind boggling omissions.I confidently predict my shadow list will do far better this year.DL 2023 will easily get double figures and may do better than last year but I think that getting near or breaking the record of 20 is out of the question. Had the committee picked Whale, Vialli , Flack, Burrow and Alagiah instead of some of their weaker picks the record would likely have been tied or broken. We shall see though.

    The 1st Death of 2023

Can you tell who I voted for yet?
  18. Sean

    1. Dick Van Dyke

He looks like he has declined a bit in the last year so definitely shouldn't be dropped and is now at the age where he never should be dropped but yeah someone as healthy as him has no place near the top 10 as things stand.

    1. Dick Van Dyke

I mean don't get me wrong van Dyke deserves to be on the DL every year until he conks out but he should be lower down the list for the time being.Yes in recent pictures he looked less well but he looks better than most perhaps all of the nonogenarians on the list.

    1. Dick Van Dyke

Especially when there are so many better candidates on the list.

    4. Dennis Skinner

He is a massive name in UK politics.Despite never holding anything near high office he was one of the most recognisable and memorable MPs of recent times. I hope he is enjoying his retirement despite it being unwanted. He was unwell in 2019 and only stood out of loyalty as he was so personally well regarded.I was researching him the other day and last video I could find was of him talking about his love for gardening 2 years ago where he looked reasonably well. He has previously had bypass surgery , cancer and a hip replacement in the past.

I can't decide whether to say a prayer for him now or to save it until the morning after.

Duran Duran are massively culturally and commercially successful in the UK.Much more than Psychedelic Furs.

I think Alagiah would have been better than both.Stage 4 cancer for nearly 5 years and first diagnosed nearly 9 years ago with stage 4 cancer plus is having more frequent setbacks.
